Pros: data virtualization is much better than what traditional BI vendors can offer. Data visualization is very intuitive (drag and drop) and very interactive. It also works on mobile which is a great feature!

Cons: Enterprise level pricing is very expensive and is a limitation for organizations. You must be an IT wizard to be able to get the settings correct.

Pros: - Performs exceptionally well on large datasets - Interactive dashboard with filters on visuals is a useful feature - Variety of charts for all kinds of variables - Very good for analysis (drill-down feature, forecasting feature and chart selection feature)

Cons: - Expensive - Interface not user friendly (like all the features are not available straightforward on the home menu) - Blue and green pills are confusing for first time users

Pros: very good job at turning your data into actionable information. i use this for Adwords to further assess our quantitative analysis, and Tableau has made organizing data quite useful, allowing us to make further decisions that we have not noticed otherwise.

Cons: the learning curve takes quite some time. i understand the complexity and nature of the software, but i still think some parts could be made simpler, or easier to learn.

Pros: We used Tableau for insight/analytics into People and Recruitment Data in a large enterprise company. I loved it as it was easy to use, no scripts/SQL queries needed, and I could set up dashboards to show the info that matters to me in a clear/concise way.

Cons: Tableau is quite enterprise-focused, so when I moved from an enterprise team to a startup team, it didn't make sense to set up and implement right off the bat.

Comments: But it is a very easy to use program, with many tools, many options to customize all types of visualizations, you can perform calculations within the same interface of the program, it is a tool with a lot of potential, which is constantly updated

Pros: It is a very versatile program, it allows you to make different presentations, from simple graphics to multivariate maps. It has the possibility to connect to different databases, which makes it a very powerful tool.

Cons: sometimes it is difficult to understand the location of the variables to achieve the visualization that is desired; On the other hand, sometimes map-type visualizations do not present as many details as one would like, or the union of several spatial-type files causes the program to occupy a lot of RAM, so it is necessary to have a good computer to improve the conditions of program operation

Comments: Overall, a very good product. It has a free trial license, so I recommend a trial to anyone interested in data visualizations.

Pros: I am a longtime user of Tableau an I think I should update my previous review. Some years ago, Tableau was already a top-contender. Starting from this position, it has enlarged the list of compatible databases, and the capabilities to mix and match data from different sources. In the last weeks, Tableau software has changed is pricing scheme, and now it offers a reduced-price "viewer" license. In the past, you were forced to buy "the more costly "publisher license" even fro viewers.

Cons: The palette of available visualizations is the same since too many years. (e.g. it is missing radial plots)

Pros: The user interface is quite easy to use. Someone with limited knowledge can adapt to it quickly and create powerful reports in less than a month. You can import data from excel files and use pre-defined templates to speed up the process of launching your own interactiv graph or dashboard.

Cons: It is quite complicated to adapt the dashboard to different screen sizes and Tableau limits your posibilities. If you are not fluent with this, your graphs can be cut once you publish them, so it can throw your work to the trash.

Pros: Tableau has number of features. We can drag and drop the entities on the chart to see the live simulation in the chart.

Comments: Overall, I'm a very satisfied with the product especially the support from the community I get. Tableau keeps on innovating and improving its performance and features. At the time of this writing, Tableau has come up with a new extract called Hyper and it's tremendously fast! It also has come up with a data prep tool to support the Tableau Desktop.

Pros: It's very easy to use overall even non-programmers can use them by visually clicking and dropping objects around. Can perform dashboards with a few mouse clicks.

Cons: Price is a little too high for a mid-sized company to subscribe. When too many filters are placed on the dashboard, it can be very slow so I would advise users to limit the number of filters to use.

Pros: There are countless customization options and even a reasonably extensible API for building Tableau into your own web applications. Cons: There is quite a learning curve for new hires. Tableau is complex software and it's to be expected for all the features it includes. I think they could provide better training materials.

Overall: Tableau is the gold standard for data visualization API's. Whether you're using the application itself in a web app or using the API as we are, you can't go wrong with this powerful tool.

Cons: when saving many times it gives you an error and does not allow you to save the changes made, losing all the information already made, since you do not have an Internet connection you can not update the data, if you change the name of the database you are using it recognizes you and eliminates all the added data.

Cons: There is very little to dislike about Tableau.I must say though that the pricing could be better for the licence.

Overall: We can make better presentations and gain better insights from our data. We produce a lot of data so having software that is quick with large data sets is a huge plus for us.

We use Tableau to create amazing visual dashboards. It is a great tool!

Pros: Tableau allows you to view the big picture with colorful charts but it also allows you to drill down to see the raw data behind the charts (numbers) if you need to see the names of individuals. You can also export in various formats such as crosstabs, images or pdf.

Cons: Depending on the type of report, you will need to do some formatting after it has been downloaded.

Pros: Tableau is the software I use most (outside of Excel). The software's visualization tools are nice, at times amazing. Tableau connects with every data source I've ever needed (with the exception of one problem). The interactive capabilities and Tableau Public make for a perfect fit for a beginner to intermediate data visualizer. Advanced data visualizers probably find the functionality somewhat constraining, but that's one of the benefits of the software. Tableau is more than just a supped-up Excel graphics system. The analytical capabilities, although not best in class, offer all the basic calculations that most users will ever need.

Cons: Tableau is limited in its analytical capabilities. Tableau is working on making its use of R script more user friendly, although this requires the user to know R. Tableau's graphs are also somewhat limited at times, and Tableau for some reason takes pride in limiting its options (it apparently knows better than the user on what graphs are useful).

Overall: I get real-time data visualization from Tableau Software and a platform for posting cool and useful data visualizations without having to purchase a server.

Pros: It's just a great product all around. It's user-friendly, easy to learn, fluid, and agile. Started working with this project when I was working toward my degree. It's only gotten better and more effective over time.

Cons: Nothing - they have a version that appeals to just about any use case. The community is extremely active and friendly as well; which makes learning that much better.

Overall: Excellent reporting capabilities. Pretty much able to connect to any data source.

Pros: I think Tableu is a great tool for data visualization and it has been recommended by others in my graduate school program as well. It is easy to use, and I appreciate the ease in sharing information.

Cons: It takes a little more effort to learn how to use more technical or difficult features on Tableu, but it is worth the time to learn.

I am using Tableau to teach a graduate course named Business Analytics.

Pros: Tableau is easy to use. Tableau has a lot of functionalities which are fairly unique. Tableau is also able to connect to major databases.

Cons: I hope that most instructional videos for Tableau would be available. The starting time for Tableau could also be improved.

Overall: Students like Tableau and teaching Tableau probably makes my class more attractive.

Pros: Tableau Desktop helps us visualize and understand the data we have. Also, helps in the analysis of business, predicts the market trends. It's very easy to approach the dashboard; you can develop instrument panels in a few minutes. It is very easy to learn and use. In addition, good support to database connections, the best thing is that it supports R. We use Tableau as a way to visualize data and simply display raw tables. We connected it to various data sources, such as Oracle and MySQL.

Cons: Some functions seem unfinished and raw. With the latest update, I also have problems with frequent crashes. The inability to correctly export to excel is a big pain. I would like to be able to export data to most formats.
