Pros

I used CommonSpot very happily for about 4 years until senior management made the stupid mistake of deciding they needed something powered by another vendor. I can assure you the replacement they decided on wasn't nearly as good, though apparently they can afford most anything. I would gladly go back to any organization or school that had CommonSpot CMS, and work or volunteer for them. It lets you develop your own plugins, and gives you a lot of power over implementing custom design on different pages.

Cons

It does take a little more time to learn than WordPress, but even that is getting more complicated, and they are trying to find ways to make it less free. I've used Drupal a little, but the support from that is mostly voluntary from the developers.

I have used this software in the past to help maintain a website and it was a major headache to use. It is based on Coldfusion and that alone makes it very difficult to work with since it is a dated language that most people do not have experience with. On top of that there were many issue with having multiple users in the system editing at the same time and we were never truly free to do what we wanted with the system. Even adding/removing pages from menus required developer knowledge and made things very hard to deal with. That being said the team who runs the product is very friendly and they were willing and able to help most of the time. I just wish you didn't have to contact them to do some pretty minor edits, layout wise that are a breeze in other CMS systems.

Review source

Incentivized review: software users are invited to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive for their time and effort. All incentivized reviews are subject to our verification process prior to publication.

Pros

We have been using CommonSpot for over 5 years. It is a very easy to use, and very flexible CMS. It has both a rich feature set for Marketers (personalization, SEO management, video, social media, vanity URL, just to name a few) as well as developers (over 2,000 method API). PaperThin also provides a hosted version in the CommonSpot Cloud.
