April 6, 2019 5.0 My interactions with Tick customer service have met expectations. They are prompt and polite. Pros Time is such a limited commodity in this fast paced world. Tick helps me and my team prioritize jobs and keep track of what we have completed. It has so much functionality that we didn't expect in our initial trial. You can use it as a work log or try to forecast future hours. If you work for yourself, Tick is a must! Cons While the third party app integration is pretty good for this type of software, we do use some other tools that are not compatible, specifically some email clients. July 25, 2019 4.0 Tick lets us know how much time we are spending on each project and evaluate if that project is actually worth the resources we are putting toward it. Pros I really like Tick's simple system of keeping track of projects. Many project management apps are confusing and are too complicated and big. Tick let's you keep track of how long you need to spend on each project. It doesn't try and be more than what it is, and I really like the ability to start and stop a timer within the software. Cons There are some projects that I work on in Tick and it is hard to classify wear it belongs with Tick's organization. I wish I could tag a project and subproject in multiple locations. Pros We evaluated a lot of other tools until we found tick. It is a great tool for multi tasking. I really like the fact that there is a free version which is really handy. It's really important to understand, as a manager, how the team is doing and where is the most time being utilised in. Tick helps us stay productive and provides with insights which we incorporate in our future programs. Cons It has to be a bit faster than it is. Cons The software is great, but of course, remembering to do hours sucks. Maybe there could be features like reminders or reoccuring time blocks for events and projects that are repeated. Pros I liked the phone app & desktop app combo, ease of use, and the fact that it was able to integrate with project mgt software such as Basecamp. Tick offers a free option which is great for small teams & freelancers. Cons The reporting was not as dynamic as we would have liked. However, if you can remind yourself in other ways it may save you some money. Pros I looked into this tool a couple years back when I really needed a tool to help me stay organized and on top of deadlines. Tick has come in handy so many times and has reminded me of so many things that I would have forgotten about. Cons This is a very lovely feature as time grew on I have become more computer savvy and realized I can set deadlines straight from outlook or through my calendar on my Iphone. I think the company can improve with the new features and if they can come up with a feature whereby if it's past 12 hours the ticker to stop it self. I believe this feature will help many. I can now monitor myself and put this over to staff where they should be aiming to do something in the same amount of time as well as the steps that they need to take. Pros There was a little hurdle in getting used to this Tick as it opened up a lot of doors in my time management that I didn't know I needed until getting used to it. Now it has enabled me to be more efficient in the tasks i've set with staff and for what I expect for them and myself to do in the time required. Cons At the moment I don't as I have only been using it for a few months. If I do come to a hurdle for something that I need I shall submit it, but at the moment it's serving me for what I need. I also really like that you can branch out projects within a project so that you know exactly where your hours are going. Cons It's not so much a dislike of the software, I just wish there was a reminder feature where you could have a popup cue at certain hours of the day to remind you to enter hours! Pros Tick is a time management software that can be used for any business, regardless of its size. It's cloud based so you can access it anywhere, anytime, from your computer or phone. You can use multiple timers to track your activities throughout the day and even setup auto timers for reccuring projects. Timecards are easy to complete with the option to add notes and you are given budget feedback based on your input in real-time. I could set user permissions to ensure privacy for certain projects and integration with Quickbooks Online allowed me to quickly export hours reports. Subscription cost varies but there is a free 30 day trial available. This software has been very beneficial to me in the past and I'm currently in the process of getting it approved for use at my new job. Cons I did not have any issues while using Tick. Tester Lead Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Convenient, but with Help" December 14, 2016 4.0 For backstory, my team is gauging how long certain tasks take to better forecast where people should be assigned and when to start tasks. I'm used to keeping track of my hours and time spent per task for freelance work and have made a spreadsheet where I can enter the start and end time of a task, get the total HH: work sheetMM spent, and then it convert it to Decimal Hours through formulas. I also made a worksheet space for tasks that I stop and start throughout the day, so the decimal hours are added up in a range for Total Decimal Hours for a task. My team find the stopwatch function useful and prefer to use that. I also mentioned my spreadsheet during a meeting and earned a collective groan, but I suspect it's because I make spreadsheets for EVERYTHING. I have not had to contact Customer Support, and I don't feel qualified to say whether or not Tick is a good value. I have also not used the Projects or Reporting tabs, as I have only checked times into Tick. Pros I like the Recently Used sidebar for easy time logging. I had to re-do three weeks of entries and the Recently Used sidebar was definitely a lifesaver in that situation. It also makes checking into tasks much easier after the first entry. I really like the comments section as well. My team lead showed me the narrative I had constructed around a task because of the comments I had entered. Cons Time to Enter (decimal hours) and the Stop Watch feel a little too specific, but I mentioned previously that I'm so used to entering something like "9:00 AM - Start" and "9:47 AM - End" that I made a spreadsheet so I could enter start and end times, get the total HH: MM and have it convert to decimal hours through formulas. Pros I used Tick when I was working for a professional dog walking company. The ability to clock in and out from any location was particularly useful. I also liked that I could manage logging the difference between actual walk times versus commute and key change times. The mobile layout was fairly easy to follow and view, and I can imagine it would be easy to use on a laptop. Cons The connection to the internet was spotty for all employees across multiple networks, which resulted in a lot of time spent on clocking in. With every minute precious to someone traveling and walking multiple dogs per hour, stopping to make sure your clock in had loaded was frustrating. You can keep track of the hours invested in a project without much trouble which is good for your budget. Payroll with definitely benefits from it. Doing so made it extremely easy to track my progress, time spent, and overall value of my working hours. Tick made a major difference in my productivity and made tracking the value of my work quite simple. Pros Users can enter time from anywhere and keep their projects on time and on budget. The ability to track your time on your desktop, Apple Watch, Android, or iOS device is a definite plus. Tick also makes it easy to get a CSV file of your reports for invoicing through third-party accounting software like Quickbooks. Cons Tick's price is too expensive. There are similar products that provide nearly the same tools and service at a far cheaper price-point. Additionally, the app often crashes on iOS devices; which can be quite aggravating. The basecamp integration sold me initially, but I since moved off basecamp for PM and continue to use Tick for time tracking and recording details for invoicing clients. The accounts and projects are flexible and easy to set up. The application for Mac and Chrome are great for my standard workflow, and the mobile app is helpful when i forget to turn off the timer on my computer. It's all seamless. I have subcontractors who use it too, and all the timecards roll up to the correct projects. I recommend this app to any independent consultant or small agency I come across. Pros It's simple, flexible, and works really well across devices. Cons On the Mac app, if you click off an entry before saving it, i.e. to look up some details or a time stamp on an email, the information wipes out and you have to start over. that's the only quirk you have to remember--don't click off the widget before saving the entry. November 13, 2017 2.0 At first it was a fantastic project management timer with great reports. Now it is not. Pros We adapted to Tick's needs and changed our project structure to accommodate it. That's how much we liked Tick at first. Then, after 3 months, stuff is just gone, or no longer works. Repeated support contact has come up empty. The help page suggests that we search google for answers. Cons Poor support, yanking features out from under users. MVP isn't something you build down to, it's something you launch at.
