Pros: I love that Toggl is quick to set up new projects and get to work. It shouldn't be a big deal to start tracking your time, because it's such a minimalistic task, but a lot of time trackers make it a big thing to start a project. I also like that it's cloud based, so no matter which office I'm working from, it's not a big deal. I like that it takes time entries in various formats (like I can type in 1h, or 60:00, or 1:00 and it understands them all), and I like that it's painless to switch projects (which I do every time a co-worker comes to ask me a question).

Cons: I don't like the recent changes that don't let you see your history without generating a report. I also wish it integrated with Google Calendar/Outlook and would automatically import meetings/scheduled events and tag them with the correct project (or ask me if they ought to be tagged). I also don't like that it runs until you turn it off, without reminders or updates - like it'll run 8 hours and send me a reminder, but if I ignore that single note, it stops. I would like it to send multiple updates, or have the ability to cut off, and to send me a notification/alert to start it again the next morning, because sometimes I'll forget and come back two days later to find 48 hours tracked to a single project.

Overall: It's the best cloud based time tracking option out there, period.

Pros: In comparing several time-tracking tools, Toggl ended up being the clear winner.

Toggl has an interface that looks nice and is user friendly.

When trying to track the time I spend working on a project, it is imperative that the process of the logging the time is as frictionless as possible. Toggl did a great job.

Hours was a close tie in terms of the web app experience. Hours looked a little nicer, but was a little too minimalistic. Toggl provided the tools I actually needed. But the Mac app is what really sealed the deal for Toggl. There are times when I forget to stop the timer, and the Mac app allows Toggl to detect idle time and ask me if I want to keep it or discard it. This is absolutely a must-have feature.

I should also mention: The chronological view of when and for how long I've worked on projects/clients in a given day: This was also a feature I wanted to have, and luckily Toggle includes in the "Timeline" view.

Cons: There's an awesome feature called Timeline which shows you a graph of what programs your using as you work on different projects... at least I think that's what it does. So far it hasn't populated with any data. It's supposed to pull data from the Mac app if you have "Record Timeline" checked, but it's not.

Toggl sent out a nice "Need any help" type email and I took advantage of this to ask about the Timeline issue. However, I haven't received any reply. Hopefully they'll reply eventually...

One minor con: In the chronological view (Timeline) you can't click on the timeline to manually input some time. This is nice and easy in Hours.

Hours also makes it so easy to know when "now" is. In toggl, the current time isn't indicated. Unfortunate, but not a deal breaker.

Overall: Toggl makes it extremely easy for me to track time spent on various tasks/projects/clients. After trying Toggl for myself, I finally understand why they're so popular.

Overall an amazing app you must have to TRACK Your Time & also for your people !

Comments: I really love this app and I think more people need to have this time tracking application in their toolkit for 2016. I tested a lot of apps like this but Toggl really impressed me not only by the features, performance, design and cost effective but also by the fast responses I got from Toggl Team. They sent to me also some interesting gifts in february 2016 and I really think I will recommend to all of my clients (I already shared it on my twitter and other online social networks as well) I depend on it so much. I can't imagine another week without toggl reports that shows me where my time was spent, if I was effective or not and so much more. It's so important to know your cashflow and there are a lot of tools out there for tracking that, but what are you using for your "timeflow" ??? Toggl cames with a lot of amazing features here like, clean design, amazing suport, performance in place, available for android, windows, in browser, applications and so on... Toggl has been also my #1 go to for recording my time to bill clients. I couldn't even imagine manually writing time down :)) I think that Toggl is indeed extremely helpful in making sure that everyone knows how they are spending at least their work life so they can identify the trends, patterns and repetitive things that consume this precious resource called "time" ! I'm so grateful to have found it! Thank you Toggl for helping me keep my time straight and helping my Business !

Cons: I can't use it without having the Internet On. (will be a great idea to have an option to track the time spent on your laptop and when you have the wiffi available again to sync the time)

Pros: I love the minimal, user-friendly design of this software. Daily time-tracking is easy to complete and view in list-view. I am currently using the free version and really appreciate the reporting tools they provide, even for base users.

Cons: There are a few bugs here and there with Toggl when switching between workspaces, but they haven't deterred me from using the product. When trying to view a report for a workspace it seems that you need to have it set as your primary workspace, there is no way to switch between different workspaces in the reporting tab.

Overall: I've used Toggl for the past few years as a quick and inexpensive way to track my time between multiple projects and report the ratio of time spent between them. The software boasts plenty of features for the base/free version (which is the version I use) along with basic reporting. The design is attractive and minimal while the time-tracking pages are easy to use and view. I would recommend this product to others looking for a basic time tracking software.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are looking for simple time tracking and reporting, Toggl is a great product to try. It seems to work best with more basic projects, but you can't be the pricing for the number of features provided, especially if you are working with different clients and need to keep reporting and time tracking very separated.

Pros: Toggl was a great find when we started realizing we needed to do a better job of tracking time. The best features are the easy to use UI, and a display that shows the user a task by task view of how their day progressed, as well as a consolidated weekly view where you can see a more holistic view of where time was spent. The dropdown project selections are very intuitive and when you forget to stop tracking, it is easy to add manual time.

Cons: A downside to adding manual time is that you have to interrupt your time tracking to do it, unless it was earlier in the day. Ultimately, what made us move away from Toggl is that we realized we were paying for multiple tools that were really good at 1-2 things, and we needed a more complete system. We ended up migrating off of Toggl and a few other applications for a more robust project management system that also had a time tracking module, saving the company quite a bit of money in doing so.

Overall: It was very easy to get staff up and running and trained on how you use the application. We liked the visual indicators to differentiate between projects, and the various views to see daily and weekly progress.
We definitely improved our tracking, and therefore our billing, and the ability to quickly and easily switch to different projects meant there was little to no downtime for our staff.

Has enabled me to turn time tracking into a habit!

Pros: -This just makes time-tracking so easy! I had always thought time-tracking was a good idea, but was never able to make a habit out of it. However, this app just makes it really simple to have different timers for different tasks, and the charts and analysis of your time use is really great.
- Love that there is an unpaid version and a paid version (paid version gives me peace of mind that the business model is sustainable and so the software will be around for a good while)

Cons: - I think it's a bit difficult for users to understand the utility of this software before they use it. For example, I initially thought 'well, why do I need a devoted app for this? I can just set a timer for each task and jot the times down in a notebook'. I think there needs to be more emphasis on why doing things this way isn't good (it involves much more cognitive fricture and makes it much harder for time-tracking to become a habit), rather than just emphasis on the positive features.
- The name seems to be difficult for some people, as the spelling is somewhat unusual. Fine if you're writing it down for someone, but a friend suggested it to me in conversation and it took me a while to find it because I was searching for 'toggle'.

Overall: Has really allowed me to get an objective grasp on how my time (both work and leisure) is split up and helps me work out how to spend my time better. Really recommend!

Pros: The most important thig about time tracking is it must be simple and easy to use. Just press play if you're starting "something" and catgeorise it later. Press play on a task you were doing before and tweak if needed. Set up categories and tags to easily select for reporting later. Simply and intuitively adjust start and end times if you forgot to press start or stop. All web based. Simple but useful reporting, I use for tracking types of work done and overtime.

Cons: Working out the relationships between teams and workspaces and projects is a little complex, but it's not needed for basic time tracking and gives a lot of flexibility and collaboration options when you do master it. Recently the mobile app syncs poorly so even if I do manage to connect it may not stop the timer when I have left my desk. But the interface worked well when it did sync correctly.

With this software I regained the control of time.

Pros: Thanks to Toggle I could finally forget about timesheets. It does all the calculations for you. Now I don't start any task without hitting "start" with Toggl. It also helps me to control workload of the entire team.
The speed and ease of use it true. The app is very light and the interface is very minimalist, does not distract and allows you to quickly set the proper parameters.
It improves overall productivity, a lot, and kill procrastination.

Cons: There were several bugs during software development but now it's ok. At the beginning it takes much time to set up everything (projects, clients, etc.), but later it pays off. The reporting could be more automate (like summary+details) and generate more precise file names. I get lost a sometimes when I try to collect monthly reports from the whole team.

Overall: I got rid of procrastination and gained control over time.

Pros: It is fairly straightforward on use, but it actually worked better when I first began using it and then every update they have made has made it more of a pain to use.

Cons: This software is somewhat flaky. The way it worked in when I started using it was good, and then they made changes and it went down hill from there. I really don't like that if you enter future time, it retains it but disappears so you can't see or make changes to that future time very easily. You have to go to detailed reports and try to find it. I contacted support and their explanation was that this software is really to track what you are doing right now, but that doesn't mean I may not want to enter something for the near future! Anyway, that was one of the changes they made that made it worse. Also, just clicking in the interface sometimes doesn't work the best.

Pros: Simple. Elegant. Soooooo well thought out. Designed down to the pixel!

Cons: Pricey. Requires expensive subscriptions for the features you really crave.

Overall: I love good apps. Well-design apps that show attention to the customer experience. Toggl, while addressing a task that nobody loves (time sheets and time tracking), is honestly one of my favorite apps. It makes a tedious task tolerable, and it does it with such finesse. I've been using Toggl since it's infancy, and it only gets better and better. The company sincerely cares about the quality of the product and the customers that use it. I couldn't recommend this more highly. I have an entire department on it, I use it for freelance, I recommend it to friends for personal life, and I recommend it to clients often. Great, great, great!

Recommendations to other buyers: This software does everything you could want and dream. I can't imagine any other 'advice' other than to go into it with a 'frugal mindset.' Decide what features you REALLY need, or you'll end up paying a premium for all of the ones you THINK you "need."

Pros: Toggl is one of the best time tracking software out there that i know of, i use Toggl most of all time projects I am involved in for the company i work for. What i like about Toggl is, that is is easy to use the UI is simple and efficient on entering my time spent on a particular projects and such. The web based entry for Toggl shows me the charts and graphs on where i spent my times the most whether if it is projects i worked on or tasks i accomplished, Toggl gives me the broad spectrum of my time spent. Moreover, with just a few clicks i enter in my time, and add couple of notes and done, then Toggl keeps all my data entry any provides my weekly, monthly, and annually graphs and charts. Also Toggle works on multiple platforms so there is no need to worry about which devices are compatible with Toggle.

Cons: One of the major downside of Toggl is that it does not have a screenshot features to where i can take a snapshot of a particular screen and save it with in Toggle.

Overall: Toggl main benefit for me is the ability to track my time and provide me with visual details on where i spent most of my time during working hours.

Pros: Sometimes when I work, I get distracted and lose track of how much time I've spent on something. Using Toggl has helped me keep better track of how I'm spending my time, so that I can see at a glance what I've been doing and when. I use it for my regular job, so the exact start/end times aren't a huge deal, but I've also used it for contracting work when I need to keep track of each minute I spend on a project for a particular client. Toggl lets you use a combination of projects and clients so that freelancers and contractors can keep track of the various tasks and clients they're doing work for. They also show handy summaries and pie charts of how much of my time I've spent on a particular project, and so on.

Cons: Sometimes I've hit "enter" on the desktop app, assumed it started the timer, and gone off on my merry way, only to find hours later that it hasn't started at all! Usually this is an easy fix for me - I just set the start time for whenever my last timer stopped - but occasional times I've had to do some detective work to see how long ago I actually started working.

Pros: + It hooks up to zapier so you can automate some time tracking which is nice.
+ its available on all the platforms & has a dedicated desktop app that can track idle time.

Cons: Its expensive in comparison to other time tracking tools that also do other functions
The reports & analytics are not intuitive or fast.

The biggest problem is that you can start a timer on your desktop & then start a different one on your mobile device... then when you want to stop the timer, it is device specific. That is VERY annoying. If you switch the device that you are using to track the time, then you're definitely going to need to edit the times manually.

The iOS app is also one of the worst UXs I've ever seen from an app. Biggest reason is because the auto-complete for the tasks requires the description added to the Tasks. Is rather confusing to explain over text... but there are way better ways to have achieved time tracking ... a list view of every project & task is not the best way to go.

Overall: I know what we don't like. We prioritized the ability to have a dedicated desktop app, and be on every other platform. I wish I kept with Harvest, it was way better.

Pros: Its simplicity for users. It is no problem getting users started recording their time.
Toggl integrates with loads of websites - install the chrome extension and just hit the red timer button on many websites to start recording time. You can even right click a phrase and use it as the title for the time.

Cons: It gets expensive quickly.
API integrations are lacking, we have to double handle many figures. We haven't found a simple means of turning records in to invoices.
We haven't found a way of linking a task management system with Toggl that pulls projects, value etc across.

Overall: Accurate recording of time spent on activities across the team.
Tracking against project time and value targets.

Pros: At it's simplest, it tracks time. I want to keep track of what I'm doing and I can do that. The OS X menu bar application reminds me when I've forgotten to use it, which is a time saver (haha). It's especially handy to be able to track time and then categorize what it is later. It eventually works it's way into your routine, which feels like exactly what I want.

Cons: For something that markets itself as simple and hassle-free, there is a LOT going on with this app. The fact that there's a tab for (paid) training should be an indicator of the complexity here. Projects, Clients, Teams, Workspaces, Tags... it's too much. I'm pretty confident I haven't scratched the surface of the feature set, but digging any further ultimately means I'm spending a non-trivial amount of time to track my time, which just leaves me ignoring it. Still, after a project, I'm left feeling like I didn't really capture any actionable data since I didn't meticulously categorize my time as I went.

Toggl provided our entire department with an accurate snapshot of how we spend our time.

Pros: Toggl allowed us to begin the journey of proper time management, but also proper project management. We saw first hand evidence of tasks and projects that were causing an imbalance of priority that is meant to be spread out amongst several service lines. It told us the truth of our minute to minute actions at work, and helped increase productivity greatly.

Cons: The interface was at times a bit cumbersome regarding backlogging information on particular days in the past. It felt like it took one click and key stroke too many...

Overall: Utilizing Toggl as a whole department was like a positive audit for our time management as a whole, and individually. It held us accountable, yes, but it did more than that. It allowed us to analyze and assess how better we can spend our time and resources as various units and increased our efficiency by an immeasurable amount.

Pros: In the remote team, every new employee gets trained with Toggl for a few months. We use Toggl instead of anything else because the time tracking software is incredibly easy to deploy. Toggl doesn't care if you're a Mac, Windows, Linux, Unit, Toaster user. (Okay maybe don't use toasters for your OS system.) You can put it on your mobile device, add it as a gmail extension, and do all sorts of other fun integrations.
The value is how easy it is to build reports. I can quickly export a day/week/month's worth of activities to my boss to give them an idea of the time length of projects. If I was working with a team, I can avoid the back-and-forth exchange and look at their report from the administrative side. Moreso, the reminders are pretty helpful, pinging me when I may forget to track my time.

Cons: There's nothing I can think of that Toggl can do better. It's a solid platform, the price is great and I highly recommend it.

Overall: Knowing where my time went!

Pros: Toggle is user friendly and probably the best time management tool I have ever tried.I leverage on Toggle to track and analyze the amount of time I spend on projects and tasks ,whenever I am behind my PC and when on the move.I admire how the Toggl team have continuously improved this tool over the years ,to fit changing needs of users.
Overall it has helped me ensure I make the best use of my time ,and know when I am working below my usual efficiency ratio.

Cons: Safari has been my favorite browser for years . However Toggle does not work on Safari and thus I have been forced to use other browsers.

Great time-track system when you don't need hours to go through an approval chain.

Pros: I like the stop/start feature and the sub-projects you can have under each main project. This works out great for us as some of the work we don on clients is Retainer and some of it is billed Hourly. By tracking this way, we can see how much time is spent on the client as a whole, and then separate out what we need to bill hourly for.

Cons: The start/stop feature lags a bit behind sometimes. The ability to tag items can seem a bit overwhelming unless you limit your company to specific ones and make sure employees don't create new ones.

Overall: An easy time-sheet tracking system, and reports we can pull for monthly margins.

Pros: I use this tool every day for tracking the billable hours of several clients. It could not be easier to track, assign, edit, and review time on a variety of clients and their projects, and even look up past data in an analytics view.

Cons: The analytics view can be tricky to use to copy past hours into an invoice as you have to mouse over each day to see the totals, therefore cannot copy/paste those numbers or even glance at them to manually type into another window. It's not a problem though if you record each week at the end as the tracking page is easy to review in detail.

Pros: I like both apps - the desktop and the mobile one for their ease of use. I like the fact that you can see all the recent projects you worked on and you can just press a button to start tracking any one of them.
I also like the fact that you can see in a second how many hours you worked today, without needing to go to the reports section.
I like how you can filter the reports by day, week, client - this is very helpful.

Cons: Unlike another tracking software I use, Toggle doesn't show you the apps/programs/websites you used when working on a certain project.

Must have, yet cant understand why it is not integrated into task managing platforms.

Pros: User interface, easyness of use, clear workflow and reports are indeed useful and with nice graphs. Also, the manual entries are quick.

Cons: Price. Definitely the pricing is really high for the benefits. It is basically a timer guys, so come on, a team of 10 really have to drop golds tp afford it...dont forget the common startup or small business already have to pay for Office 365 suite, for task managing, eventually for security like enterprise mobility management softwares, etc.

Overall: Now that we work for value, not for hours, the only benefit is checking where people waste time.

Pros: I love the free reports feature because it allows me to see where I spent my time and then bill my clients accordingly. I can also show the clients that analysis. I don't pay for the paid version, but the free seems to be enough!

Cons: The only real complaint that I have is that the Mac version of the desktop is not as intuitive as the Microsoft version. I switch back and forth from both, and it's weird how different they are. If they could help the Mac Desktop version be more user friendly and look just like the MS version I'd be happy!

Pros: I love the ability to tag entries with multiple tags. I try to be as hyper-organized as possible with time tracking, because I inevitably get asked about total hours spent on particular projects. Having Toggl is great, as I can just easily run a quick report and instantly get the correct figure.

Cons: I wish it had built in Quickbooks integration. We log all of our time entries into Quickbooks, but it would be great if Toggl did it automatically. Or even integrations with other software.

Overall: Accurate numbers and figures on time spent on projects.

Pros: Toggl is incredibly simple yet still gets the job done. It is amazing how something so basic can offer a big insight into how you spend your time and therefore how to shift your focus if it isn't as good as it should be.

Cons: While simplicity is its best asset, I wish there was an option to use more advanced features and manual controls on starting and stopping timers for certain activities. I also wish there were sub-activities, likened to keeping track of time for certain activities on certain projects

Overall: It offers a lot of insight into how you spend your time, it was shocking. I now always use it to keep track and see if there are still times I am spending too much time on things that shouldn't take long due to a lack of focus.

Pros: - Very intutive
- Allows to track time very easily and manually correct it afterwards
- Detects idle time and asks how to treat it
- Advanced reporting

Cons: - It should do a much better job at integrating tasks tracking and app&websites usage tracking
- It's not good at planning things, you need another app for task management
- Entering the time manually is tiresome - the app tends to switch back from A.M. to P.M., automatically asumes that the tasks found place on consecutive days
- The desktop app has limited usability, for many options you have to use the web-based app
- Got much more expensive recently

Overall: Let's me know what I spent my time on, sum the hours up, calculate the projects value.

Pros: This tool is super simple and straightforward, but provides so much value. It gave me a very clear picture of how I was spending my time and helped me learn to switch tasks WAY less frequently. This has allowed me to work deeply, with focus, and accomplish more in less time. I was all over the place before, switching tasks 30-50 times per day, and now I've got it down to 5-15 task switches in a day. I also love that the timer continues even if I accidentally close the browser tab, which I often do. It's also nice you can go back and edit times if you forget to turn the timer off.

Overall: Helped me figure out how I'm spending my time so I can prioritize and focus better.

As project manager I use Toggl to report projects.

Pros: Toggl is easy to use web-based solution. It's great to keep the most important project information in one place. There are useful options like:
- timer
- dashboard
- report
- insights.
I can manage projects in many ways:
- projects
- clients
- team
- workspace
- tags
It's easy way to answer question about projects.
If it's necessarily - data can be exported in many formats:
- PDF
- csv
- Excel.
I use Excel export to create pivot tables, to present data in complex views.
Toggl has many options to filter data and present as reports & dashboard, so I can specific information quickly.

Cons: It would be interesting to see more options to present information - maybe based on group of information, like mind maps structures with context complex data.

Overall: quick project management information

Pros: Minute-by-minute tracking of Tasks across Projects and Clients makes it super useful. Ease of use helped accelerate the deployment within the company. The floating time ticker widget on the desktop app is a bonus! The free version should meet most of your time tracking requirements. Idle time tracking is great to have.

Cons: The license fee is sky high, should one choose to migrate from the free plan to a paid one. Apart from this, there aren't any glaring 'misses', even in the free version.

Toggl's free tier is a great tool to help you keep track of your time.

Pros: Toggl is incredibly simple in use. It has exactly the features you need: logging tasks, that can be assigned to projects, that can be linked to clients.
It has a web app, mobile app AND desktop app (although I always felt like the last added the least value), so you never have to miss an entry.
Pretty plots are generated weekly or monthly that give you insight into when you were most productive or what takes the most of your time.
It shows a nice timer in the top bar of your browser to remind you that you are still tracking your time.

Cons: Toggl won't stop tracking if you don't explicitly tell it to (which admittedly, I often forget).
It only allows so much space to define your current "task", which I usually solve by adding a link to a JIRA, Trello, ... ticket.

Overall: It has helped me manage my time spent on large projects so much better.

Comments: Toggle has taken the dull task of time-tracking and made it quick and painless. I use Toggl internally, to keep track of how my time is divided between our group of companies. The reporting tools have proven very useful in providing my team with accurate distribution/ratios and hours spent on projects.

Pros: I like Toggl's interface, it is friendly and intuitive, it's also free for basic users. As a free user, I'm impressed with the features it offers at no cost, I'm able to track time, add an unlimited number of projects and use Toggle's reporting tools. Colour coded projects, easy to add tasks, and auto-fill have also helped to make my life a lot easier.

Cons: There is one annoyance that I run into repeatedly. When adding a task, I usually go in at the end of the day and re-cap (sometimes the next day or a few days later) When adding a time entry, it always adds it on the last day that you entered time, so entries end up on the wrong day. The time tracker won't update the date until you create an entry and remember to select the new day/date. Hopefully, that made sense, not a deal breaker for me, just slightly annoying.

Useful and even free version works wonders.

Pros: It is a very effective product for attorneys keeping track of their time. It has a free version and works wonders. It is fast and syncs data sends reminders when you left your clock on. I like every feature of this product. Highly recommended.

Pros: I had to use this software last year and I liked very much, especially diagrams, which are easy understandable. Summary report is also very simple and transparent.

Cons: Sometimes I had problem to assign several tasks to project and later on report them. It would be great to find a better surface for reporting. Nowadays I have to use Harvest, which surface is a bit better and reporting is a bit easier. However, I still have problem: notes are not visible, searchable.

Overall: Friendly surface, easy to use.

Pros: Light weight, quick and simple.

Overall: I use Toggl to track time spent on each of my clients and it works beautifully. It regularly reminds me I forgot to start tracking time, so I know when I need to click start. Starting and stopping work is with the click of a button and I can categorize hours by client, project, and task for reporting and billing purposes.

It is lightweight software, so rarely glitches and the iphone app that syncs my time makes tracking on the go just as simple. Multiple user capabilities are also available for larger firms.

Recommendations to other buyers: The desktop app is easy to use and reminds me when I need to start my time tracking.

Pros: Simple and easy to use. Has "enough" features. Lightweight, with a great mobile app. Elegant. Keyboard shortcuts makes it a breeze to use. Killer feature - if you forget to turn it off, it tells you you've been inactive for X time and asks you what to do with it.

Cons: Can be a bit spammy with tracking notifications. Although they made the app faster and more stable, haven't seen any upgrade feature wise (not sure if this is really a con)

Overall: Optimised my expenses and helped me create better ballparks.

Cons: Reporting can be clunky, but only requires a couple extra mouse clicks to find what we need.

Overall: We have used Toggle for over a year. The Chrome extension which integrates with our other tools and task management systems makes it a life saver. The reminders to track time, or to discard idle time, keep us on task, literally. Tags make it easy to keep time logs sorted according to how we prefer to do reporting.

Recommendations to other buyers: More than pays for itself by reminding you to log time that might otherwise go unreported, and unbilled!

Pros: We've integrated this into our workflow by using it to generate the timesheets for payroll, as well as for client invoice (we bill by the hour). The reporting aspects of the Pro edition are worth it.

Cons: The Pro edition is pretty much a requirement for any serious company and we feel it's a little pricy. We did experiment quite a bit with the API, but had limitations (may have been corrected since).

Overall: This software allows us to be compliant when we get audited for government grants.

Pros: Great value for money, easy to work with, does its job well

Cons: Actually, there's not much room for improvement.

Overall: As an academic, I juggle many different projects: from teaching courses and mentoring students to organizing conferences and doing the research itself. Pros: For simple time tracking, it is so easy to use you'll make it part of your daily routine with ease. I use the report feature to submit a weekly detailed description of what I've been doing for my client. Or, I'll get a quick report to see where my hours are at in case I'm in danger of working too much - or not enough.

Cons: Can't think of anything. Honestly. This has made hour tracking a breeze - at least in my little world. I know someone who works for several clients at once/several projects at once -- this might change the experience somewhat from mine but he loves it too so it can't be that cumbersome.

Comments: I've been using Toggl for several years and consistently recommend it to those who need a simple, easy-to-use but feature-rich time tracker. The combination of website, mobile, and desktop app trackers make it portable and highly functional in any environment. They have a slew of features and integrations that can help automate repeated tasks, and I make thorough use of the reporting feature to keep an eye on productivity and project status.

Pros: Toggl is just easier to use than anything else I've tried before. It can work offline, from your phone, or from the website itself. It integrates with my billing software (Freshbooks) so I don't need to enter in client information and project information more than once. Some of the great features include notifying me if the tracker has been running too long or sat idle, displaying billable and non-billable hours in a clear graph format, customizing rates per project or task, and email reports.

Cons: My issues with Toggl are fairly superficial: I wish there were more colors for clients/projects, and I wish the desktop app would work faster when it starts to autofill project information.

Recommendations to other buyers: I recommend Toggl without reservation, particularly to those needing to track time for multiple projects.

This application has served me to keep track of time in tasks and to combine it with Asana software together they become a great tool of work.

Comments: The facility that gives you the application and portability make it easy to use, I do not use it but I know that it can be linked to a billing software, but even if it is not linked it helps you keep track of the hours you should charge to the clients.

Pros: The control of the projects becomes much easier to take it with this tool, it helps you have repetitive tasks in a streamline, optimizing the administrative time you will be able to visualize the progress and the status of the projects in a simple and clear viewer.

Cons: Sincerely I have not had big problems with the application, but if I have to say something about the application it seems that the color palette to define the projects is somewhat limited, and also when a project has many tasks or is already very large the system it's a bit slow

Pros: -- The fact that it doesn't just start and stop, recording the time passed. It includes the start time and stop time, so I can adjust it after the fact. (This is especially helpful if I start the timer and forget to stop it.)
-- The Project and Client are easy to keep track of.
-- The tags. Because of tags, I can easily keep track of which hours I have billed for already and which hours are unbillable.
-- The reports. Because of the tags mentioned above, I can easily generate a report of untagged hours so I know what to bill for.

Cons: I've got no complaints. Sometimes I'm annoyed by the notifications that pop up onscreen, but that is nitpicky and a tiny price to pay for something I'm still using at the free level.

Pros: Toggl is very simple to use. I've had team members use it so I can see what they spend the most time on to improve their efficiency. It's as simple as adding or selecting a previous task and starting the timer. Once you are done, stop the timer and switch to your next task. The best thing about the product is it's ease-of-use. You can also track time offline. This is a great tool for if you are needing to track your time traveling or in meetings without internet access.

Cons: If you forget to stop the timer from running, the software will not warn you. For example, if you need to step away from your computer for a while and your computer goes to sleep, the timer will continue to track. You can update the time once you come back, but you'll just need to remember when it was that you stepped away originally.

Recommendations to other buyers: There are a lot of time tracking softwares out there. Most of them have different features so it really depends on what your reason is to track time. A lot of billing softwares already have time tracking built in.

Comments: Would love a timebox or pomodoro timer element added to help drive productivity.

Pros: Easy to organize and log time for multiple clients and projects. Automatically groups hours according to client/project and color codes. Easy to report hours by client and/or project to multiple file formats (PDF, csv, etc) and at different levels of detail. Easy to edit dates/times when necessary. Mobile app is perfect for keeping time on-the-go.

Cons: Unable to customize the columns that are reported, so requires me to manually remove unwanted columns when formatting reporting for employers.

Pros: We use Toggle to manage the amount of time we expend on tasks and projects. It is very basic yet very effective and it is amongst the most intuitive applications I have used ,everyone in my organization picked this up in minutes.
I love the simplified process of use ,I am not required to write anything down , I simply have to activate the "start" option upon kicking -off a task and deactivate it again when I done with the task.

Cons: I wish I can just stay signed-in permanently on my PC. For some reason though ,Toggle doesn't allow this.

Pros: I've been using toggl for years. I use it as a freelancer and also at my day job. It's great for personal use to track hours spent on projects. I know it's been helpful in looking at workload and capacity planning.

Cons: Occasionally I forget to asign lables to tasks. It would be nice if it prompted me to do so or made it required. It'd help down the line when I look at a month or few weeks at a time.

Pros: The program overall is really simple, that is the beauty of it. It doesn't consume a lot of bandwidth, as other software of this type does. It's fast and so it also doesn't consume resources of you cpu or anything. You can pretty much see reports online that work very well.

Cons: The simplicity and fast function of this programs is also what can be bad, I'll explain myself. As the program is quite just for tracking time, it lacks other funcionalities that other software has, like screenshots or things that will help you get better knowledge of what's going on. But you want this software tracking only for yourself or for a trusty team, then it's an awesome option.

Overall: The fastest tracking time software, simple but effective.

Pros: Easy to use on mobile app, run reports and mark items with tags (such as Billed, Non-Billable, etc), helpful customer support

Cons: On the mobile app, it often resumes a timer after I've already stopped it. Then I have to go back and edit the ending time.

Overall: I can record my client time whether I'm at my home office or at the client's office. I can manually enter time spent on emails or phone calls and later print a report to bill the client.

Pros: As a freelancer, "capturing time" is an essential part of the job. The interface was easy to navigate and there weren't a lot of "bells and whistles" to get in the way of what I needed a good timer and a quality report with a break down of time that I could share with my clients. It gave me both.

Cons: Overall it's a great product. I ended up going with another provider because as my company grew, I needed more detailed reporting than Toggl was able to provide.

Overall: Toggl was easy to use and made capturing time for my freelance business a breeze.

Pros: I like Toggl because it's easy to use and apply to a team. It's got minimal frills, but just enough to keep things organized and perform basic record keeping an analytics. It also works well across other functions as pop-ups remind you to start logging time when it recognizes you might be starting work. It integrates into Chrome very nicely. The aesthetics of the product are very easy and works well for visually-oriented people.

Cons: I always forget to turn it off! It's good about reminding you when to start, but bad at reminding you to clock out. The service will send you reminder emails when you forget, but it's usually not until the next day that I see it. Manual entries aren't difficult, but they can be a little annoying (small areas to click, recognizing time formats, etc.).

Overall: I use this for personal use, that is, I don't report my hours to bill. However, it's great for keeping on track and helping me manage my time. I work better and more efficiently when I use it, not much mind you, but it was an interesting little productivity fringe benefit which I did not anticipate.

Pros: I liked how it would track each project. I prefer to bill exactly the amount of time it takes to do a task and Toggl is the best way to track task by task for billable hours.

Cons: The costs kinda get's expensive after you add a lot of employees in comparison to other ways of tracking time. The value overcomes the cost, however.

Pros: Fantastic, lightweight and simple to use time tracker. If you are in a service business - it's an indispensable tool. The reminders to track your time are incredibly valuable. The UI is clean, easy to use and understand and the reports are fantastic! The browser extension makes tracking your time....take less time! If you are on a subscription plan, it becomes even more powerful - with calculating your billables and rounding for you. Also easily integrates with some task management tools.

Cons: I can't think of a single complaint. They do what they do and do it very well! If you are looking for a simple time tracking app - this is the one.

Pros: Toggle is so easy to use, and the best part is it integrates so well with other applications, making it so easy to track everything you do. We use it for our team of 3 and love it.

Cons: The labeling/grouping system can be a little hard to understand sometimes and use with the google plug in. Other than that Toggl is super straight forward and great.

Pros: I like the ability to manage everything over multiple platforms. I primarily use the simple desktop platform, and rely on the mobile app to adjust or correct while I am in meetings or forget before leaving the office.

Cons: As others have stated before, the reporting could use a little fine tuning, however it is more than adequate for the minimal cost of the software.

Overall: Associating time spent to open project, and the ability to track those hours as billable or not. Summary report of hours each week to help categorize time for performance KPIs.

Pros: It is inexpensive, has good reporting and is extremely easy to use. Toggl offers the ability to create clients and projects while maintaining simplicity. It provides an excellent value.

Cons: I can't think of any. I have used the program for years and had various employees use it as well. I don't recall ever hearing someone complain about it.

Pros: Toggl has a free version for a limited number of users, so a great option for a small business that's trying out time tracking software

Cons: The functionality is not as great as other paid alternatives (Harvest). I'd like the ability to switch between users on the main screen so I can see real time what my employees are running their timers for.

Pros: Toggl is a very good cloud based solution to the issue of time management. we use it daily to keep track of everything. We love that there are desktop and phone apps as well as the web portal.

Cons: It can be confusing to generate reports of items that need to be billed, This is no doubt as they don't use the UK Apr-Mar financial year.

Comments: Reporting is easy to use.

Pros: I am a marketing consultant with multiple clients and Toggl helps me keep track of projects by client as well as different rates.

Cons: There is no way to change a client rate without altering historical data, but there is a workaround by creating a new project with the new rate attached to that project.

Pros: I like that Toggle can accurate track the amount of hours remaining in a month. It gives a good overview of one account. I referred this software to my clients to automate their staff time tracking as well.

Cons: I wish that Toggle could be embedded into Basecamp like other time tracking software can. When tracking times with many different projects like 14 I would like a clearer overview of how much time is remaining for each project within a months time frame.

Pros: Toggl is an amazing program for time tracking. As a freelancer, I often need to track my time on individual tasks and projects. Toggl was a great choice for me personally. I love the ability to add multiple projects (clients) as well as subtasks to track. Using Toggl has made it so much easier to have an accurate representation of how much time it actually takes for each project.

Cons: Like any time-tracking device, it is easy to forget to turn off the timer when you've finished a task. With the desktop app, I've found it easier to monitor when the app is tracking as opposed to using the browser version.

Toggl is by far the best time tracking solution I have ever used.

Pros: The UI is great. It's easy to run monthly reports for billing. The way you set up projects lets me easily segment by client and project. Ongoing refinements and updates. They're really on top of this service and show a great commitment to making it better.

Overall: It saves me lots of time and makes it easy to keep projects, clients, and time spent straight. I keep it open in a tab in my browser at all times. I've tested lots of offerings in the time tracking space and this was by far my favorite.

Pros: I really like how easy it is to add tasks during the day. There is no requirement to have tasks or projects predefined. I also like the "plug-in" that shows up in the our project tracking application that allows me to start the timer directly from the task I am working on. The ability to sync from my desktop the web is a also a plus as I often work from 2 different work stations.

Cons: I often would like to add a note to a time entry, but currently there is no way to add a notes to a task that has been tracked inside of Toggl.

Overall: Ability to track time spent on daily tasks for reporting to my management team.

Pros: Toggl is the best and the most powerful time tracker I ever used! Love its interface, everything is on it's place and available in just a few clicks.

Cons: Despite of awesome design and functionality, some parts of interface need some improvements because for some new users it's hard to understand a purpose of some features. Maybe some kind of learning process would be useful. Another problem is that from time to time some basic features (like automatically calculated price of the done work) stop being available for free plans and go to paid plans. That's sad because previously it was available for everyone. It's not a good deed, Toggl.

I've been using the free version of Toggle, and it's hands down the best time tracking app I've used

Pros: For starters, it syncs really well between iphone and desktop, so I can start in one place, and stop at the other.
The reports are fantastic, even if the free version is somewhat limited with the reporting that you can do. I can break down specific projects, or specific clients, or even specific activities to get the data I need.

Cons: When I switch between tasks, sometimes Toggl doesn't remember what client or project that task was associated with, which requires me to set it manually. It's a minor grievance, but when faced with it a few times a day, it can become annoying.

Cons: Would love to be able to add line-item descriptions (bulleted lists of what was accomplished during a timeframe, instead of a single line).

Overall: I've been using Toggl for a year or so, and I love it. It's easy to use, has the tools I need for tracking time and reporting on projects. Makes billing simple and easy to track where we are efficient and where we spend too much time!

Recommendations to other buyers: Billing comes from outside the US, so call your bank to approve the billing in order to avoid interruptions and failed payments.

Pros: Easy to use web app or phone app. Quick to add tags and run reports, and even if the app crashes- which admittedly it does more often than I'd like- it restarts quickly and without ANY loss of data- including current time-keeping

Cons: The reports in pdf form look great and contain useful data; the Excel forms are lacking in that. I often have to use both- ERxcel for the editable numbers and the pdf for the additional details. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if the Excel form contained the same categories and information as the pdf.

Comments: I just type in the next work item, or do that later if I'm busy as you can edit all entries, hit Start and get to the doing part. Easy!

Adding clients, projects, tags and manual entries is a breeze as well, and you do it all right there on the same screen so there's clicking around and waiting for page load times - there are actually none, since content is dynamically loaded and updated.

Toggl also gives me great flexibility in report generation. I can set and tweak any parameter I can think of, and generate an overview or a detailed report of just the data I need, also, all on the same page. I also get to option to choose between either PDF or CSV export, which is nice.

I don't like how the desktop app works, I still feel like it needs some working out of kinks still to be called a release. I was pretty annoyed by the fact that I had to type in the information after starting the timer and hitting stop, since I like defining my tasks beforehand when I do have the time.

Nonetheless - Toggl is super easy, I use it every day at work - I just love it. Great job to everyone who worked their butts off in order to create this service.

Oh by the way, did I mention - it's absolutely FREE? That's right, you only have to pay if you want billing information on time entries and some other advanced features that you don't really need if you just like to track for added focus and data analysis as I do.

Comments: What a life saver ! I look back over my years in business and say, "What have I been doing?". Now with Toggl I know the answers. Simple, efficient, quick to enter, visual, mobile....everything I need in one app. It works for me by combining my business and personal life into one. Having a goal to spend more time with family, now I can track that time too (keeping it out of my business data file) and see my progress and where I can do better (less TV). Visually, I can track my billable hours, keeping me on track for financial goals. Did I meet my exercise goals this week?? With a click of a button, I know. It helps me be accountable to myself and team members. I especially love the weekly reporting emails. Perfect. Again, I couldn't be happier. Pros: Toggl is focused around simplicity - you can literally start tracking with a single click. I've been using this tool for a few years now to track my consulting hours - it allows to quickly add new tasks, accounts and projects and export them to PDF summaries, just what I need and expect from a time tracking software.

Cons: Pricing would be a blocker here to have a whole organization switch to toggl, so I've always limited this for my own use.
Also I'm missing a more robust integration with JIRA.

Overall: Simplicity in tracking time used for different tasks over different projects.

Pros: I use Toggle to measure how much time I am expending on different office assignments,thereby helping me improve on my level of productivity. I love the Toggle REMINDER feature. This feature always reminds me to track myself and that is very helpful.
I can monitor several assignments and tasks at same time and it has been an efficient timing tool for me so far ,so good.

Cons: There have been times when Toggle was very slow to load ,but this happens far in between and doesn't really result in much of a problem.

Pros: Toggl provides an easy way to track your time spent on tasks. Using Toggl we can estimate costs, improve our performance and manage our time. Toggle has a good integration with project management software (e.g Asana) and browsers.

Pros: The reporting tools are a breeze to use and it's very easy to get a .csv file of any data slice you need allowing you to manage your data however you see fit.

Cons: It desyncs fairly infrequently but just often enough to become a little annoying and rarely, it ignores when I stop the timer at the end of the day meaning I have to fix the last entry the following morning.

Pros: Toggl works both online as well as offline. The software syncs to the cloud when you are online. You can start and end time tracking in just one click. It records how you spend your day with the help of pie charts, bar charts and gives a comparison on the usage of your time on different projects. It has a 3 stage hierarchy, which helps us to organize our projects. Toggl is quick in setting up new projects as well as getting in to work. Since it is a cloud based app it can be accessed from any place.

Cons: It doesn¿t let us see our recent history, without generating a report. It is not integrated with Google calendar/Outlook so that we cannot see our planned meetings and events. It also drains the memory as it runs in the background as long as our system is turned on. It can also not be ignored, since once we ignores, it stops sending us reminders.

Pros: I love the dashboard option and how you can view time used on different "tasks." The program allows you to manage clients by name, billed tasks, non-billable tasks, add tags, and track total hours for the week at a view.

Cons: One thing I would love to see in this program is the option to start the timer for tasks no matter which screen you are in.

Comments: Toggl works great for us right now with the size of our business and the complexity of our projects. It is definitely good for small businesses with smaller projects.

Pros: Toggl is a very easy tool to use and the UI feels pretty modern which I like. You also get a pretty good value for you money.

Cons: It does lack some features that I feel could make it way better. The main pain point we have is on the reporting side. It would be great if we could easily run a detailed report for all the time entries on a project. You can do this, however, you have to manually select the dates and in order to do that you have to know exactly when the project started and ended. It would be better if you could simply just select all time or something like that.

Pros: With Toggl I track my activities and tasks at work easily and super simply. I have several projects open with multiple activities that I do within these projects and all this can be easily tracked with Toggl. It's browser-based so you can access it anywhere and it also has a browser extension to help you even further. I recommend Toggl to everyone who needs to track time for work.

Cons: Nothing I can think of really. Toggl gives me everything I need at the moment. Best part is the free option.

I enjoy it's integrations with project manager apps like Asana and its other easy integrations. It has a integration directly into the browsing.

Definitely built for simplicity. Any time tracking that takes more effort than a push of a button is not worth using and Toggl exemplifies this.

I also like the time reporting per team member and per project.

Cons: The app has no UX flaws that I found on Android that makes it difficult to write descriptions and assign to projects when there are multiple time recordings per task.

Overall: easy time tracking that followed me wherever I went. I could easily add team mates, projects and tasks, record time and follow up time from the rest of my staff

Pros: Ability to create buckets of time, has a Chrome plugin to time things automatically, has detailed reports, good visual interface, color coding, overall I like it.

Cons: I wish the Chrome button allowed a dropdown with specific projects or most often used/most recently used so I don't always have to get back into the desktop and adjust the hours.

Pros: Ease of use, accuracy, not so many bells and whistles that it's confusing while still having everything I need.

Cons: Haven't stumbled upon any yet.

Overall: I use Toggl to track everything I do for my side business Patey Designs and I honestly don't think I'd be profitable without it.

Toggl makes it extremely easy to track the amount of time I've worked on a project, produce detailed reports for clients, and report accurate billable amounts for invoicing. Not to mention it's great at showing you where/when you might be slacking.

Gladly paid for the entire year subscription and haven't looked back.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get it.

Pros: If you are required to manage your time, we all know how much of a pain it is. Enter TOGGL. This free, easy to use and manage app can create easy time entries and have various tags (project, class, dimension, etc) for time entries. Can create custom reports as well which help in reporting

Cons: Does not have much by way of integrations w/ other services, at least so far. Would be great if this has integrations to major ERP and payroll for the accounting and recording parts of timekeeping extended to other areas/organizations in a business.

Overall: Best time tracking system for a small business, and helps you maintain simple online entries with a powerful timesheet calculator. It also does offer an iOS & Android mobile version.

Toggl is by far the easiest time tracker I've tried. Been using it for a few years now.

Pros: Once your projects are setup it's a breeze to track everything. And the reports are really eye opening to how I spend my time.

Cons: I'm currently using the free version because the paid versions do not offer any features that would benefit me personally. Paid versions are mostly features for larger teams.

Overall: It is my one and only time tracking software.

Very easy to use time tracking application.

Pros: The ability to track time in a single click is fantastic but sometimes I forgot to stop my current timer and start fresh when starting a new task, having the ability to change the time whenever needs be is really helpful. Adding certain time blocks to projects that you can set up is also a nice touch.

Cons: We have had a few issues with Toggl not syncing properly and users having some minor log in issues, but nothing serious and these were issues that were resolved very quickly.

Pros: Ease of use and integration with Chrome. You can add an extension that will allow you click and log hours and then go back and tag them later. Has shared team integration too.

Cons: The reporting can be better. I would to be able to customize charts but that would the only thing. Nothing remotely bad about this software.

Pros: It's super easy to use and can be mastered within a couple hours. Great for tracking a teams project workload and task completion.

Cons: The only downside to it being so simple to use, navigate and master is the fact that it seriously limits what all your allowed to do on it. To improve this, it needs alot more functionality.
