I also purchased a personal copy to use for a personal business as a small-scale CRM solution. The out of the box templates provide a foundation from which to build upon. One of my clients also raved about the fit and finish features that smartsheet has incorporated. Pros Smartsheet is a low-barrier-to entry project management, databasing, spreadsheet, form technology. The quick setup and ability to report and build dashboards is intuitive. The ability to share information with people makes the tool a great centralized source for delivering projects of any scale. Cons The dashboarding could have more robust capabilities and I would love the ability to do pivot functions. Also, some needed features seemingly take a long time to be incorporated into the product development roadmap. Review Source VN Viv N. Cons Mostly the challenge comes whenever there is a new update on smartsheet sometime the account fail to be logged in on the mobile application however smartsheet is powerful tool for project management. " December 17, 2019 5.0 Pros I love the functionality to be able to set up rules that alert us when we have an upcoming deadline. I build our entire event project plan into smartsheets and it helps keep my team members all aligned with their tasks and deadlines. It also keeps me organized and sending follow ups when needed and creates less "chasing" on my end. Cons There are some features within smartsheets that because I don't have the background in true project management are hard for me to do. One example of this is Ghantt charts, they are complicated to me. I more so think that's just something I need to spend more time learning. This one con is some what silly, but the limited font is also something I like least about the software. Admittedly, in the grand scheme of things, that is no big deal. Review Source AM Angelina M. Pros I like the ease of access for outside users with the forms created and the alerts that are done when the form is submitted. Cons The alerts at times come in as one email for a few notifications instead of separate emails for each submissions. At times we need to have an email for each submission. Not everyone in the organization likes the tools and some refuse to get on it, but those of us who use it have found it a valuable tool for collaboration within our team and also between several departments. Pros Ease of use - very similar to Excel in functionality while operating as a database. Collaboration - easy to use simultaneously as other team members, track changes, and maintain up to date info. Data links to Excel make complicated spreadsheets/dashboards link to collaborative site easier. Cons Clunky in its reporting - not a lot of flexibility to play with the data without completely redesigning the report. There are no graph functions for dashboards yet. Editing sheets that are linked to other sheets sometimes causes errors in links or reports because of small changes in headers, or similar. In addition, as we gather data in Smartsheet we can go back and confirm budgets are correct and timeframes we were estimating are accurate. Pros The ease of implementation and use of Smartsheet allowed us to be up and running with minimal downtime and the templates save time when we start new projects. Cons The newest update moved the comments to the left side and the one before that moved navigation to the left side. I liked it the way it was before these changes to be honest but the tutorials when changes were taking place were helpful. Reason for choosing Smartsheet SmartSheet gave us the capabilities we needed without having to a big learning cure and giving us more than we needed and at the price point we could afford. Cons One of my least favorite thing about this software is that It's difficult to keep my team on the same page. We are a large company and are not able to provide everyone with a login. The only way one of knows if changes have been made or if action is required is if we are tagged. Whether you have a large project or a small group task list, it can do the job and do it well. It's easy to customize, easy to onboard new users, and a great help in organizing and prioritizing the work that needs to be done for the project. I really enjoy it and always recommend it to clients! Pros Unlike some other project management software I've used, Smartsheet is very customizable. It can be set up using templates or freeform, and the reporting you can generate from it can also be set up to meet your needs. It's not difficult to learn to use, and most people can be up and running as users (if not designers) almost immediately. It's pleasant to look at, as well. They are great at helping you get set up and working with it. Cons Oddly, some of the keyboard shortcuts are annoying and don't work as I'd like them to, but I'd consider that a fairly minor complaint. Smartsheets allows you to share in a company wide manner with no hassle. The ability to have multiple documents and reports or what ever needs to be shared in mass is very helpful. Having this will allow you to cut down drastically in emails or having to send it to every party manually. Cons It will cause certain documents to be protected in a way that if you need to share it with a secondary group, they will need to send a request to access that document. Its good for accountability, definitely, just one or two extra steps that get in the way if you are needing something in a hurry. In a previous role I was able to greatly speed up cross collaboration across a multitude of business groups via automatic reporting on a wide range of projects; which greatly improved overall company efficiency & success at that particular firm. - Pros I love the fact that it is every easy to use, can do almost anything, and is extremely collaborative. Cons Sometimes formulas that work on one sheet may not always work on another, and occasionally there are odd syntax errors.
