When I hired somebody to do a campaign for me I was able to see the value in the tool. Cons As a business owner you shouldn't be doing everything yourself and I don't want to or intend to. Learning the tool yourself is a good place to start and then passing it on to a team member or having an expert in the area take over. I found ActiveCampaign very challenging and time consuming to set up to use myself and eventually did hire an expert to set up the campaigns I needed as my time is more valuable. It was easy for me to get started using it and that was a big factor for me. I like how the automations are similar to advanced email software and are easy to use. All the commands that I need are in the automations so I don't have to do a work-around. Customer service has been helpful each time I contact them. When needed, they send me the exact link to the documentation I need, or answer my question. Overall, I enjoy using Active Campaign and find it easy to use. The pricing is fair and I believe I get more value compared to other companies with similar pricing. I've used companies like Infusionsoft (Keap), MailChimp, and others that were way harder to figure out. But I could not figure out Convert Kit. I looked at their documentation and I just didn't get it. So I went with Active Campaign and it was easy to set up my lists, campaigns for sending emails, and automations. The chat support is decent & you can get questions answered; however, their achilles heel is that their engineering team is apparently asleep behind the wheel and not only don't fix bugs, but provide zero communication about fixing them. Pros Pricing is excellent, features are great, and the company is very innovative. Overall, I really want the relationship to work. Cons The automation rules are broken. I have one field update automation that's broken. It's a simple field update automation that says if field a) value = x, then update field b) to be y; however, it's broken and I sent ticket to them ~4 weeks ago. More importantly, I spend all of this time doing the implementation. ,and now their automated emails will not trigger. I submitted tickets to engineering ~4 weeks ago, and I haven't heard a PEEP from the engineers. They are kind enough to give me June service free; however, that's not what i actually want. I want the software to work so that all of the 100+ hours of time I've invested in building landing pages, automations, data imports, etc, can actually be realized. We also send a unique newsletter through each month, and track engagement. If they fixed a few of the bugs, sped up the site and improved the UI I'd say it was excellent. Pros We got ActiveCampaign primarily for automating email sequences, and it does this very well. The UI isn't hard to figure out, and there are lots of options for triggers to choose from. There are also many apps to integrate with, and I've found this pretty easy to do as well. Cons ActiveCampaign's site can be a bit slow to load, and occasionally has small errors that eat up time. For example, the automation page often starts glitching when I try to scroll down, or the Forms button can't be clicked until after I click another option in the dropdown menu. Besides that, it feels a little clunky to edit things - a mix of a slower site, UI choices and protocols to make sure you don't delete something too quickly. Not sure what I'd change exactly, but I know it seems to take awhile to get stuff done in ActiveCampaign. We've been unhappy with our experience overall with ActiveCampaign. It could be good for businesses where there aren't so many touch points or more things can be automated for guests. We're too personalized with our contacts. The overall pain was simply how much clicking had to be done to access information between pipelines and contacts. It took forever to load and search between the different pages. Pros The software was easy enough to use and get all our contacts loaded. It has a lot of great features, such as tags, and places to customize fields and notes and the reminders feature was excellent! Cons We had a lot of glitches with the software. You'd input a field and it wouldn't save automatically. Or you'd put in a bunch of information, save it, and then it'd refresh itself and the information would be gone. It was maddening. We also found it to be a bit clunky of a platform. I was constantly click back and forth between contacts and pipelines and various fields. Nothing seemed to sync with each other so you had to click through multiple screens to find information. It became too much of a hassle for the work we do.
