Pros I will start with listing out the few things I do like about Active Campaign. It's not the worst I've seen by any means, but there are much better programs out there that can do much more. 1) The home page is customizable which lets you have the data you need right at your fingertips. 2) The reporting on campaigns is actually really nice and shows you exactly what you need to see. 3) Writing emails is distraction free and lets you do the basic task of writing an email. It doesn't give you a lot of unneeded and unnecessary options. Cons Active Campaign has a lot of room for improvement. Maybe it's just me, but I don't enjoy using it when I login. I am left with a clunky user experience and I am just not a fan. It's one of those things thats hard to bring down into words, but I will share what I don't like about it here. 1) It's list centric vs. subscriber centric. ConvertKit is a competitor that uses a subscriber centric model and I think it works much better. The entire point of building an email list is to build relationships with folks, and when you have a list centric email list this function gets more difficult as the same person could be on multiple lists. 2) I don't like the inability to easily see where subscribers are coming from. It takes some digging to find a screen that clearly displays how you are getting subscribers. I feel that this is an oversight as the very first thing I want to see is how I am getting new subscribers. I like to know whats working or not! 3) I don't like that it's not intuitive overall. It feels clunky and not like a new tool. It feels outdated and thus I don't enjoy using it. It’s easy to feel helpless in the face of it all. I work with two different salespeople. It's great to see that he has a career path, too. Scoring is something we've only recently begun using. As a result, I believe we will have a much clearer picture of where we may make adjustments. Pros Automations can be made quickly and easily. It streamlines operations here at the company. July 12, 2020 5.0 Pros AC was easy to set up and, even better, has retained everything I built it to do. It is sometimes months between times I build new funnels for my email list and it gets easier and easier to do each time - I don't have to re-learn the system and it's intuitive enough I don't forget enough to make it hard for myself. There are plenty of great YouTube videos from other users on successful funnels to build so there is a strong community to lean on for ideas and assistance, but AC's customer service has always been very responsive and helpful as well. AC has become the engine of my side-hustle. For my tech stack, some pieces are optional. AC is most definitely not. Cons Reports are AC's weakest link. I am a data nerd, so I would love to see much more perspectives on my users' activity so I can better target and segment some users over others. I want to see my open rate over time, not just from one email campaign to the next. And I want to be able to easily drill down in to what inspires opens over others (subject line analysis!). Alas, this is the area AC falls down. But again, as long as the functionality is great (which it is) I'll cope on the reporting until it improves. While I appreciate all it's uses, I felt the customer service to be lacking. Part of this may have been my inexperience, but I was hoping for more help along the way to understanding all the ins and outs of the platform at this price point. I would recommend it but only to experienced users! Pros I love all the rich features with Active Campaign! It is a very detailed and in depth platform with a lot of great tools. It's a very powerful software and put in the right hands can be a huge asset to a business. It's great that it is so multi faceted, especially if you're dealing with lots of different types of leads and different segments of your clientele. Cons In my experience there are some issues holding back the platform. While I admit I'm not the most seasoned user in this space, I had a lot of problems along the way, and was not helped very much by the customer service staff. One of those friends described it as the "backbone of her business" and said that "she wouldn't be as successful as she is right now without it." I now understand why. Although we haven't taken this year to really dive into AC like we wanted to, it has been great for analytics and tracking where our customers are sending us messages on our website. I can then go into my AC contacts and see which of these customers we provided an estimate/quote for and which of those estimates/quotes actually converted into sales. Cons I haven't come across anything that I feel is missing. Based on the things my friend is able to do with AC, I don't think I'll ever find things that I can't do with it. I have managed up to 30000 contacts and the percentage of undelivered contacts is very low. The control over the sendings and the high conversion make it the best email tool. Pros The level of personalization of the labels to create automatisms in future mailings. To be able to segment a lot and extend the sending of campaigns on a daily basis. And once achieved, to segment automatically to customers achieved. Cons The minimum price is very high, which means that my campaigns can only last 3 or 4 months, because if the conversion rate is not high, it is an expensive tool. Pros I came from a different autoresponder which had many, many limitations. A marketing guy suggested ActiveCampaign, so it was one of many I explored when the limitations of the old autoresponder company foprced me to move. I am glad I moved, and I am very happy with ActiveCampaign. It allows you to set up marketing funnels, forms, capture lead data, tag your visitors and put them into marketing funnels for follow up. I do not use all of the features, but. I have been able to build pretty elaborate follow up processes for my marketing sytem using ActiveCampaign. There are a slew of new competitors which CLAIM to do what ActiveCampaign does for less money, and several services which offer website hosting, autoresponder, everything, for more money. I am glad I am with ActiveCampaign because they are established and their have a mature, stable product. Not the cheapest, but it has features of more expensive platforms. I'd recommend it. Cons As with all autoresponders, the user interface and names and locations for things presents a learning curve. Especially for newer people, they could improve their intro and training videos to be more clear. Reason for choosing ActiveCampaign ActiveCampaign is a mature, stable platform with lots of functionality for the price. It is not the cheapest, but it is an excellent balance between affordable, reliable, and advance functions for which other platforms charge more.
