For our marketing team, the advantages of automation and campaigns have been invaluable. I enjoy the way they work with other ActiveCampaign components and third-party connectors. Compared to a basic CRM that didn't have all the functionality I required, ActiveCampaign provides a lot more options. Cons I've noticed that the email editor may be finicky when it comes to formatting. They should build a sophisticated native messaging feature that permits back-and-forth discussion with contacts, as well as adding additional capability to the reporting database. With this, you can send emails right emails to the right people at the right time, with complete control, based on their actions. Email deliverability is also amazing; provided that you have a good email reputation, have opt-in from your list, and are sending engaging content. This platform is strictly a no for cold email and affilate marketing emails. The CRM has a clean UI/UX with all the necesary features at an arms length. Plus, the numerous integrations that are available natively make it a perfect choice for pro email marketers. Cons There is a slight learning curve. I use a couple of "Automations" from adding tags to split test different email headlines. Most of the emails I send to my subscribers appear in the inbox/promotion folder and not in the Spam folder, which is critical to me. I already recommended AC to some friends, and they all enjoy it. Cons Maybe the fact that there is no free plan to start with and the support could be quicker sometimes. There are several things I could mention but the one thing that really stands out for me is its extensive range of features.You can do pretty much anything you can think of, from easy things like crafting and sending an email to more advanced things like email marketing automation, segmentation, and behavior-based targeted campaigns. With some tools, you get a number of features but, as your business and experience grow, you might find yourself in need of something more advanced. That won't happen with ActiveCampaign, because the features it brings to the table cater to both beginners and advanced users. Pros Best parts of ActiveCampaign (AC) include their user interface for designing & customizing emails, pop-up messaging, and automation workflows. It is very user friendly and intuitive to use. We were able to set up pop-up messaging, user tracking, and abandoned cart emails quite easily with our website, within days of starting our subscription. In addition, the customer service is phenomenal. We had a smooth onboarding experience with an exceptionally communicative team. All of our responses were answered, even the more technical ones, which they brought on an engineer to discuss with us, free of charge. 5 stars for implementation and onboarding with AC! Cons Some of the customizations for forms/pop-ups require some knowledge of CSS in order to get your pop-up form to look exactly the way you want. Sometimes the CSS was buggy and wasn't working, which required me to reach out to customer service, who were very responsive (within 24 hours). Also, I don't find the reporting to be as intuitive to use as say MixPanel or Amplitude. Navigating the reporting menus can be clunky at times, trying to dig down into the information you really need requires some in depth searching or just playing around with the software. It is taking me some time to figure out the marketing automation, and how to fully use forms to capture prospects. Pros The price fit in our budget and had features we needed, like the CRM and tracking potential buyers. Cons Setting up the right fields is difficult and you can't attach a contact to multiple accounts. That limits the CRM features. There should be a feature that allows us to have all of our accounts in the CRM, event if they have the same contact, and only sending the campaign to the contact once.
