I reviewed a different alternatives, one of the requirements was to have conection with zapier and also with hubspot (although it is not as good as the one with mailchimp). Another requirement was to have a very good automations section.

The overall experience has been phenomenal. I imported my database and had everything set up and running in a day. The customer support team is knowledgeable and super friendly.

Pros

ActiveCampaign is the CRM I wish I would have chosen back in 2012 when I went with Infusionsoft. I love the automations. They are intuitive to build, easy to manage, and they flat out work. I love two way SMS via the deep integration with SalesMsg and that the convos get added to the contact record. And finally, I love the Deals feature which is the best and easily customizable sales pipeline software I've ever used.

Cons

One tiny thing I'd change is the contact merge feature. I prefer the ability to choose what fields to merge in a contact record instead of being forced to delete one.

I used Infusionsoft for years and then switched to Keap because of the baked in phone number and appointment scheduler. You can't add an automated 2-way text to a campaign sequence. If someone responds it says the number doesn't accept incoming messages. This creates a super poor customer experience. The appointment scheduler was useless because it won't allow you to redirect the customer to a custom URL after they book so it messed up my funnel tracking.

My expirience is overall good. In my case they even have an Italian interface and I contacted support a couple of times but as an avarege user you will probably not need assistence with this.

Pros

Active Campaign is a great software, it is very easy to use and having used Aweber and GetResponse I can tell you that the biggest difference is that everything in Active is organized in a logical way and it is easy to grasp. But what is their stronger point in my opinion is the API system, I was able to add, update and delete contacts from a PHP script in a very simple way. Their documentation is very well done and they have functional examples that you can use as a base fro your work.

Cons

The cost structure could be better, other software they can be cheeper but I'm willing to pay that extra money for the simplicity of usage.

Overall I'm very happy with AC. It does exactly what I need it to do. Over time I'll learn how to use it more efficiently and maximise it's features. I have been very happy with the customer service.

Pros

That it's easy to use, has lots of great email templates and has the automation fuction.

Cons

I find some of the terminology confusing and as a result emails have been sent out at the wrong time! I don't think it has Summit functionality, which would be great. A work flow that started with the sales page and ended with the summit survey would be excellent. I've heard good things about ClickFunnels from this respect.

The advantages it has is that it is easy to automate the emails that need to be sent based on conditions such as the stage of the funnel where the lead is or the lead's score

Overall the experience we have had with ActiveCampaign has been good as we are saving money but we feel as though we sacrificed other things as a result. Their support is good but could be more responsive and could have the chat running more times of day (NZST) as its only in the afternoon here which is generally not the time that support is required when it's urgent.

Pros

The change over to ActiveCampaign from Hubspot was relatively easy and the support from our account manager was great to have someone to reach out to for answers whenever questions popped up. We really like that the drag and drop email campaign builder is visual and easy to put together. The cost is also A LOT more affordable and there are almost the same amount of features as HubSpot for less that a quarter of the monthly cost.

Cons

The reporting isn't very visual and easy to interpret, you also can't drill into the specific customers who clicked on CTAs from the email campaign overlay. Updating customer information and segments is also very tricky, time consuming and not super user friendly. ActiveCampaign is also missing general features like being able to add a table into the body of an email... The application also doesn't work very well on firefox, only on chrome, it's slow and the CTA buttons display very strangely with outlook mail inboxes which is an issue for us and our clients as that is the main system we use.

ActiveCampaign has been hit or miss. On one hand, it has strong automation capabilities and integrates well with e-commerce software (such as Shopify). This makes it a solid solution for my e-commerce client. On the other hand, basic functions like deliverability and customer support have been disappointing, particularly at its price point. Because ActiveCampaign was never able to resolve these core issues, I switched to another email marketing service with excellent deliverability and support (MailerLite).

Pros

I love the marketing automation feature. It can do whatever convoluted series and branching you dream up! This is what sold me on the product initially, and it still works well for an e-commerce client I referred.

Cons

The biggest issue was with deliverability. I work for an organization with a robust email firewall and campaigns from ActiveCampaign \*never\* reliably came into our organization emails, even after I worked with ActiveCampaign's deliverability team for over a year. Deliverability is not an issue with either Constant Contact (a legacy email service used by another internal team) or MailerLite (our current email marketing service) after I coordinated with their deliverability teams. With external-facing campaigns, the open rate nearly doubled when I migrated to MailerLite suggesting that deliverability was a wider issue with ActiveCampaign than just our particular company firewall.

I own multiple websites from online shops to little blogs and ActiveCampaign helped me set up ways to collect emails and effectiently communicate with my marketing targets. I sell more thanks to it and I still grow my lists, I'm really happy with that solution.

Pros

I tried many solutions before ActiveCampaign and it is the only software I found both intuitive, well documented and efficient. You will get used to it because it's like having someone taking your hand and helping you setting things up. It is easy to set, use, analyse; if you want to start collecting data and emailing prospects soon enough, this it the best way to start your automation.

Cons

Maybe a more intuitive way to know how to integrate solutions into CMS might help those who begin with everything - as far as I'm concerned, intel was sufficiant but I studied I.T. and it might still get too technical for a few people.

The software was significantly cheaper than HubSpot and other competitors. I think because of the feature differences the cost benefits are from this lack of features. Customer service was good but there was some automation that they were not able to move.

Pros

The product is very cost-effective and the ability to have two different types of contacts was crucial in our decision to purchase. The emails and landing pages were easy to create and manage.

Cons

No social media integration which means we had to use and pay for another vendor for this. The embedded forms were not that easy to use with our site. We wanted to have sequences that were not available.

### "Very happy with ActiveCampaign!"

My business is still small but growing and I know that there is a lot more to tap into for what ActiveCampaign can do but I have been very happy with it so far. When I was deciding who to go with, I researched many of the options that were popular and this one just seemed like the best one. Now a couple years later, I'm seeing more and more people praising it and what it can do. That's got me thinking I made the right choice. I mean, I figured at the time that it was the right choice but I'm seeing that validated by other's comments, too.

Pros

I like how powerful this software is and for a great price! When I started with it, I had quite a bit of a learning curve to learn it but had excellent help from support staff. It integrated well with my other online sites. Now I'm all set up and it runs like a charm. I look forward to using more of its capability as my business grows.

Cons

I have found it a little complicated for setting up with new lead magnets but I have attributed that to its ability to do so much so that you have to navigate around to set up what you need. And, I am still learning it. But what's great is that you can duplicate an automation. So once you have created what you want, you don't have to necessarily go back to square one. That I like very much!

Price was a big factor and this one seemed perfect for where I was at which was at the beginning of starting to grow a list. But it also just seemed more robust for what you paid for it compared to the others. It was going to let me start off not paying a lot but have so many awesome features. And, I considered that as my business would grow, the increased price still seemed reasonable. So, I went with it.

Getting worse. It used to be easy and intuitive to use. Now there are errors, bugs and feature reductions almost every week that are surprising and frankly alarming.

Pros

It WAS easy to use. No longer the case.

Cons

Getting harder to use. Complicated. MOST CRITICAL: They are getting rid of features which are critical and sensible to maintain e.g. image resize, e.g. details on recent activities. The changes have eroded and downgraded the usability and attractiveness of their original program.

Active campaign has been very hands-on and helping me get established with their product. It has everything a small business could ask for or need at a pretty nominal price. As someone who has zero marketing experience in just a great love for helping others and their wellness journey their on boarding staff was phenomenal at helping me figure out which tools would best serve my needs and get me set up. I love the ability to customize the look and feel of the emails and how quickly it is to duplicate automations. I enjoy that I am not locked in to a specific program and that I can bump up my services or lower the monthly as best suit my business needs as well. There’s always someone around to answer questions if you have them and I can’t highly recommend the company enough

Pros

The product software is easy to use and offers a lot of customization specific to your business needs. The on boarding was critical for me to understand since I have zero marketing experience. But my facilitator was amazing and understanding my needs and directing me to the most usable features for my specific needs.

Cons

The only downside to the product that I can see this far is that the navigation on the left-hand side of your homepage is a little clunky to work through. Finding the exact page or clickable link for the product you want to build isn’t super intuitive and it would be great if there was a hand out that just listed the clicks you needed to take to get two forms or opt in messages etc.

The migration from my previous system was really smooth, I really like the support though I haven't had to use it much for myself, I recommend Active Campaign to my clients. This is the ideal CRM online businesses, it's intutive and easy to use.

Pros

What I like most about this software is how intuitive it is to create automations and see the flow of a contact through the automations. The Automation builder is very powerful and makes it very flexible to create behavioral marketing automations.

Cons

I wished it had a way to organize tags by categories, that is pretty all that I feel is missing for my needs.

Reason for choosing ActiveCampaign

No other alternative. Convertkit was not an option because their automation is too restrictive and you can send notifications to the team which is a must for me and the way I run automations.

As a startup founder, It is really difficult to choose the right platform to commit with. You have free options and very expensive ones. So Active campaign was a great option for me, right on the sweet spot. Their customer success team is the best. I have had three on boarding one-on-one calls where they have understood my business and helped me with all the setup, resources and best practices to start using it the best way possible. It is a very robust system, I only use the email automation, segmentation and I am starting to use their CRM, but the posibilites are endless. So far I love it

Pros

It is super easy to setup and use The best customer support I have ever had on any kind of service/product A thorough on boarding process, with personal coaching You can automate every single part of your marketing funnel and still have a nice personal touch with your best leads Endless possibilities to interact with your customers and prospects and track every behavior with you

Cons

It is so wide that I find myself a little overwhelmend on how to take as much as possible from the system without burning out. I am in the 2,500 contacts bracket, and I think its price is fair. But when I have to sacle it up, it will seem pricy

Overall, everything is very nice. The pricing is reasonable, and the additional features were unexpected as I was sort of grandfathered in to them.

Pros

This is a very legitimate mailchimp competitor, well-priced. The CRM functionality surprising, and there are really nice web insights (WordPress user here) that I could glean at-a-glance & give to my sales team via their plugin/javascript. They just recently added conversations (chatbot) automations, which were great to see. The chatbot was slick & never glitched out on me. It's not quite an Intercom replacement, but if you're not familiar with Intercom you'd be over the moon with this. The email automations are hands-down the best aspect of ActiveCampaign. The automations & workflows are visual-based & made it incredibly easy & user friendly for a once-newly-christened marketer unfamiliar with sequences. There's even a set of 'cookbooks' that are pre-built templates in case you were like me & didn't know where to start.

Cons

The email builder is a tad clunky. My biggest gripe was when I would create a new link from a template, it would change the color to blue & the font to Arial. Sounds like it's not a big deal, but when you're constantly changing the colors & fonts, it adds to the amount of time you're making an email. It would be nice to be able to add an HTML element in the WYSIWYG editor, instead of bouncing in/out between that & the HTML editor. The CRM is nice, but the deals functionality is fairly light. Not the end of the world unless there's a lot of nuance from deal to deal (like in our industry).

Great, I recommend it.

Pros

I recommend AC to all my clients because there's nothing better that can easily integrate with 3rd party tools and create the automation I want for my funnels.

Cons

Learning the software was a bit tricky and felt overwhelming, but once you know how to use it, it's smooth sailing afterwards. There have also been a few bugs around unsubscribed still receiving emails or automation sometimes not fully working properly with emails sending or not sending but it's fairly rare.

I am not an affiliate yet I love Active Campaign, so easy to use. The times I have contacted support, they are responsive and helpful.

Pros

I absolutely love ActiveCampaign. I have 2 accounts for my 2 businesses and have approx 10+ customers using it also for their online marketing endeavours. It is my go to software that I recommend to all customers. I love how the software is cheap for a startup but also offers really high level of integration for advanced customers. It is solid, easy to use and I cannot honestly recall having an issue with it. It has strong reporting and I love the integration features for Woo Commerce and Shopify also.

Cons

The only thing that is missing from ActiveCampaign is a simple checkout / payment type offering. So connecting to Paypal / Stripe is doable but not seamless. Apart from that I love it.

I use it mainly during my lead generation phase, I often connect it with some bots on Facebook to collect emails and then continue with my sales through well-organized and tidy email marketing.

Pros

Activecampaign is an exceptional tool for those who love marketing and want that little something extra to make great strides.I discovered this software during a speech years ago in a meeting and since then I can't do without it. Its ability to automate processes in marketing funnels makes it a truly precious and indispensable ally. I use it a lot for my soap opera sequences.

Cons

Initially I had difficulty understanding some functions and tags but the staff was really helpful in giving me assistance and valid information material that made me understand everything.

ActiveCampaign was a good platform for us for over a year and a half. We used it daily for contact details, email campaigns, deal tracking, automation. Has some robust chops.

Cons

Unfortunately, we can not recommend using ActiveCampaign ever due to their terms and cancellation. We were a customer for a year and a half on an annual plan. We switched marketing agencies to a HubSpot team and transferred to a new CRM. ActiveCampaign was unwilling to refund unused months (even prorated at a month-to-month fee) when terminated. I would understand this from a client in their first year, but a longer term client as well as the fact that this is a SAAS product makes this an antiquated reason. Do not use if you might move at a later date.
