Pros The integration between a bespoke platform and ease of use for non-technical clients. I.e. as a developer, I can hand off email marketing to non-technical people but still pass data to AC that can be used to inform e.g. email automation. Cons There are a few functionalities missing. I.e. more advanced email queuing. I.e. scheduling an event it's not possible to send notifications X mins before the event and the platform can be a bit slow to load at times. We have used at least six different companies, and ActiveCampaign was neither the best nor the worst. I do believe they are actively working to improve and grow, and will be interested in checking them out again down the road. Cons The only difficulty with Active Campaign is that if you don't have much knowledge about this kind of technology, it is difficult to manage setting things up on your own. I would wholeheartedly recommend this service to anyone interested in upping their email marketing experience. Pros ActiveCampaign's automation features are, hands down, amazing. Coming over from another email marketing system, I was SO impressed with how much more they had to offer. It truly took our emails to the next level! Cons There is definitely a learning curve, and it can be frustrating to figure out when you first get started. There are so many options, so many things you can customize, that it can get a bit overwhelming. I would not recommend it for beginners. That said, if you stick with it, it's incredibly powerful. There should be an 'undo'/redo' option when designing. More fonts. Cons I think that the reporting could use some improvements to pull actionable insights. Also, have had problems when tracking too many events for a huge list, so sometimes "less is more" is the right approach. It has a tons of very detailed tutorials that lets you learn your way around the software. Cons What I didn't like about the software is the need to upgrade your subscription when the number of people in your list increases and the onset 2-year lock-in period upon sign up. It's quite unreasonable if you ask me. I would recommend to those who need a form on their website and that want a separate form from another platform. Pros We use ActiveCampaign to manage lead generations from a form we built on it to get requests for information. The form has great usability and we really like the customizable fields in the forms. Cons Some of the fields are not fully customizable. We had an issue once where form submission emails were being sent non-stop due to a glitch, but I believe that was due to user error. The program has all features that you'd expect: tracks opens and clicks, number of clicks per contact, allows sending to multiple contact lists, and allows a good overview of campaign performance. I use ActiveCampaign to send weekly or bi-weekly newsletters - and the only difficult part is coming up with content, haha! Cons The only feature I'm REALLY disappointed by: I organize my leads into multiple lists, usually based on lead source (e.g. LinkedIn), or time in campaign, or profession, or their status in my pipeline. When I want to change a lead's status (e.g. from "new" to "contacted"), I have to unsubscribe them from one list, and add them to another. Unfortunately, they now feature as "unsubscribed" in the system - which makes it difficult for me to keep track of who unsubscribed by clicking the "unsubscribe" link, and who was simply moved by me to a different list.
