Pros Active campaign can handle a lot of your customer contact metrics. You can run email campaigns, track engagement, and retargeting campaigns. The software is easy and straightforward to use. With a grasp on how email marketing works, you can easily find your way around the software and get to the campaigns, contacts, lists, and automation you need to access. Also, your payment plan is based on the number of contacts you have, so if your contact is subscribed to multiple lists, you are not charged any extra. Cons The email editor is a bit plain. If you don't know coding, your emails will all look similar or you're stuck using the templates they provide, many of which look outdated. Probably does more! I'm still learning the system so I'm sure there are more things I can be doing with scheduling and automation. It works very well, though and if you're patient about learning the system, you'll be able to do very sophisticated marketing with it. Pros ActiveCampaign is powerful, especially if you want to use complex automations. Plus, their tech support is top notch! You can get help quickly, personally and with the exact "how to" for doing whatever you need. Cons It's not always perfectly intuitive. It's powerful, and that means there's a learning curve. This is not an easy, "just click here" type of software. Plus, if you're into large, cute or friendly graphics, you won't find that here. I would recommend them for sure. However, still weigh your options to see which program is best for you and your needs. Pros I like that ActiveCampaign covers all bases very well. You're seldom disappointed at the fact that you can't find a feature that you want to use or confused where to go to get to the destination page/campaign. Cons I wish ActiveCampaign offered a little bit more for what you pay. Compared to other competitors with robust SMS capabilities I feel they are slightly lacking in this field. You can assign tags based on behaviors in emails, on your website or when filling out forms. It also provides many integrations. Cons The email builder is nice, but it fails at providing a way to create simple letter-style emails with multiple images inserted inside the text (ie text flowing around left or right aligned images). To insert an image in an email, you need to add a text-block, then an image-block, and then another text-block. It doesn't work like a typical WYSISYG HTML editor like WordPress. But as soon as I can, I'm going to change my email marketing program because I feel like I'm paying and I can't use its full potential because it's hard to learn. The help center is written for specialists, not for normal people. Pros It's very complete, everyone says so, although I haven't been able to discover its full potential yet. The best thing is that the messages never reach the SPAM folder. Creating a campaign is not too difficult and you can segment very well by putting tags at each step of the process. The interface is a bit ugly, there really is a lot of room for improvement. 500 contacts is very little for the Lite version. August 23, 2020 5.0 Pros I recommend ActiveCampaign to all of my clients for two specific reasons. Easy of use and features. My clients hire me because they are not tech-savvy but ActiveCampaign gives them the freedom to use a robust email marketing platform with ease after getting over a very short and small learning curve. ActiveCampaign has an AMAZING and thorough online help database as well. Cons The only thing that I personally find missing from ActiveCampaign is Dubsado integration (although ActiveCampaign has a TON of integrations options so that might be a fault on Dubsado's end). I also think it would be nice to add landing pages. I host my landing pages on my Showit site but it would be a great option for some of my clients who haven't launched their site yet and want to start building their email list. A rarity nowadays. Additionally, they allow us to scale our list up and down and adjust price accordingly (we are in a college area and list size varies according to season. Once students leave, they are no longer interested in receiving emails.) Pros I came to Activecampaign from Aweber. We had been using Aweber for years. We switched in 2018 and never looked back Cons It has a lot of features. Not necessarily a con, but we found ourselves not exploring the features other than "sending emails" for several months. You have to learn the platform's language and logic, but once you do that, you realize there's so much you can do. You can automate everything you need, and that's huge. Cons When using conditional blocks, there are some conditions that are not to be trusted. This isn't my opinion, it's what they told me when they answered me a support ticket suggesting me to use another filtering method because the one i chose "was not reliable". I asked them why they allow people to use it if it's not reliable... They didn't get back to me. Pros I like all the AC functionalities and options for segmentation, automation, tracking, etc. They are endless and there is nothing we need to do with our leads, customers or prospects that is not possible with AC. Also the online help is really good and comprehensive. Cons The e-mail editor and the fact there is no one single point you can use to edit all of the e-mails being used regardless if it is in campaigns, automations, etc. I would rather prefer to have all of the e-mails we use in one single access point to be able to make changes in a more efficient way instead of having to go to each specific campaign or automation. I also miss a functionality to manage labels in a better way, because they can go easily out of control. About Customer Support, I needed something very specific about the way they invoice de annual product and they were not very keen to help. Time is essential for me, and waiting 20sec between each screen loading quickly adds up both in time as well as energy & stress costs. Pros It offers a LOT of tools & solutions under one roof. It does a good job at covering a wide range of use cases and in most cases you won't have to use a secondary software to get the job done. Cons The interface is complicated, laggy, and just not laid out best it could.. A lot of options are buried 3 or 4 clicks deep when they should be just a click away. Plus there's no way to modify the layout or set up shortcuts to tools you use most. You gotta go digging every time! Activecampaign does almost everything I need and works very well. Less confusing hype and fluff than competitor products. Looks and feels modern, but can be a bit sluggish when editing content. Pros Comprehensive system works well with wordpress and many other software systems IMO much easier to use than infusionsoft or similar systems needed to achieve same result Cons Charges by list size so can get expensive for larger lists Difficult to customise templates etc without being on most expensive enterprise plans. The people I have dealt with at AC have always taken the time to try to understand my challenges and then guide me appropriately. Pros It was relatively easy to get up and running with our first email marketing campaign. In addition, ActiveCampaign offers plenty of help videos and many training sessions to either refresh your memory or learn new ways to maximize the effectiveness of AC. Cons There is some redundancy of fields in the contact cards and despite all of the info on their website about segmentation and tags and the like, I still have a lot to learn about what I find to be a confusing topic. Cons When you have a feature in your plan and the exclude it from the plan you don´t get a message and realize some time later, that it is not working anymore.
