My experience with ActiveCampaign so far has been easy and straight forward. I like the automation builder. The visual workflow makes it simple to connect triggers to actions. Even complex flows feel logical and customizable.

Pros

I like that ActiveCampaign allows very specific segmentation and a very easy to use automation interface.

Cons

The price of the plan. I wish the monthly plan price could be a bit lower or offer more affordable prices to small businesses.

It was good in many ways but the issue I described above was extremely frustrating and disappointing and is part of the reason I'm leaving.

Pros

I like the user interface, the bold presentation and navigation make it feel friendly and easy to use. The customer support has been really helpful, they've given me all the time I needed to understand my problems and provide tailored solutions. The automation builder is very good, has plenty of options and easy to use.

Cons

I have a real gripe. I built an automation with a goal of checking if a lead had visited a certain page on my website. This would enable me to know if they had purchased a product. My website was integrated so this could be done. But upon testing this automation, over and over again, even when someone fulfilled the actual goal, it did not register in the automation... so they kept receiving the promo emails. I got customer support on this issue multiple times and they all suggested different fixes, none of which worked. Eventually someone told me that it was an issue with a deep tech issue of the platform and that would take a lot of time to resolve. They never got back to me to let me know when it had been resolved. Even though I left comments on their ads and their fb page. They said 'we hear you. we know its not working and we're working on it'. But if they did ever fix it they never informed me. It was such a simple Goal trigger. Its a fundamental functionality that should have worked. So I gave up on that automation and others like it. Then they decided they wanted to charge me signficantly more for my subscription because ' there have been so many developments in our system'. Well they never sorted out that basic issue that was important to me. And I never used the other fancy things they had created. So I'm disappointed with them. And now I'm moving to GoHighLevel. It offers so many more features - I can run the whole of my business here, without having multiple platforms and figure out all the integrations. And I can get the goal triggers working how I need them to.

Decent features but outrageous pricing practices. I wound up jumping through a bunch of hoops in a short time to cancel my account rather than continue working with them and paying exorbitant fees.

Pros

I used ActiveCampaign for a few years to manage an email list and send out a newsletter. It had a learning curve, but it was reasonable, and the price was acceptable for what I needed.

Cons

When I attempted to change my billing from annual to monthly for the same plan, the company claimed it had migrated my account from an old model to a new one and that it would now cost more than 7 times what I was paying previously because I was "downgrading." They also wanted to charge me a separate fee just to make the change. They continued to explain in increasingly simple language as though I just didn't understand how this was totally reasonable.

It's been a great experience overall. I'd say the learning curve is not too different from any email campaign software out there, to the extent it is more difficult it is only because it is more loaded in features and capabilities compared to more streamlined/simpler alternatives.

Pros

ActiveCampaign's email management customization is as robust as I think you can get. There are so many options for segmenting automated campaigns based on recipient action, timing intervals, contact management (tags, labels, lists, etc).

Cons

I think at times the features can get a little bit overwhelming. Because it is feature-rich, sometimes the U.I. is a bit busy it gets a little bit hard to find what you need. But over time I've noticed that they have cleaned up the design around the edges and also provided more and more templates so you have less building to do from scratch.

It's a great tool that allows you to customize not only your campaigns but also the workflows needed for you to automate and save time as much as possible. It's a secure way to ensure that processes happen correctly and the customer support team and implementation team always remained attentive to our questions and doubts.

Pros

Active Campaign has a lot of native integrations with the current tech stack we have, so it allows us to seamlessly bring it onboard and start making impact in processes. The email management tools allows us to have good control over our campaigns and contacts/prospects.

Cons

We onbaorded this software not long ago, but so far I dont have any Cons for it. Price seems fine but I will be able to tell with time.

This pricing policy is to me very draining and it means that at some point I will be forced to change provider due to unjustified expenses. Meanwhile though, the quality of the service is great.

Pros

It's reliable in its stats and the way it avoids spam. I really like the way they set the automations.

Cons

Their price policy. It's very expensive and when you upgrade to something you basically will never be allowed to downgrade, or you will pay MORE. So you are basically stuck in giving them a lot of money, and if your list fo contacts grows, this lot will become A LOT.

Im actually reconsidering our decision due to the lookup not being able to be done.

Pros

The team, the price is reasonable and the automation builder is advanced when compared to the others.

Cons

It’s missing a core CRM feature... the ability to create a custom lookup field that links one contact to another. This is standard in CRMs like Salesforce, Zoho, HubSpot, and even Freshsales. We need this for use cases like authorised reps, next of \[sensitive content hidden\], and broker–client relationships, and it’s frustrating that a CRM level product doesn’t support it. It’s now blocking our rollout and forcing us to look at alternatives.

It took a lot of work to configure, cost a lot of money (more than other email marketing systems) and didn't deliver the results needed to justify the expense. I want to downgrade and they won't let me until my next renewal in a year.

Pros

The technical support was typically pretty good. However, the business support was absolutely terrible.

Cons

There are many issues: 1) the system has a steep learning curve. 2) It's overpriced. 3) There is no flexibility on downgrading. 4) The business support team was intentionally misleading (lying to me) and slow to respond.

Pros

ActiveCampaign allowed us to start simple and then really scale. We’re using this based on a couple of things. I love how user-friendly the automation builder is it was so easy to set up welcome series, abandoned cart reminders, and loyalty emails.

Cons

Some of the reporting dashboards can be a little clearer. The platform is at times a few extra clicks to dig into how a campaign is performing.

ActiveCampaign metrics reports provide very useful insights about our campaigns that help us to evaluate their performances and make necessary changes to make the campaigns even more productive.

Pros

Activecampaign is a great way to store a central contact list and send out marketing emails - that's what I use it for -The segments and tag functions make it easy to split up a list of contacts into different categories and send out more personalised emails -Activecampaign seem to keep releasing new promising features, which is great to see -The tracking of clicks, click-throughs, privacy clicks etc.. works very well and is useful to track data of emails sent

Cons

1\. I wish that you could A/B test (or split test, as they call it) an email for time sent, but when I change one of the emails schedule it automatically changes the other so I cannot A/B test for time sent 2.Some parts of the software can be hard to use, but this isn't a huge con as once you spend some time getting to grips with it it's OK
