Pros
The best thing about UltraTax is knowing that the output will result in an accurate tax return every time.
The software is pretty robust. I use ACS (bookkeeping), Ultratax, and FileCabinet daily, and it works well for me.
Ultra tax is a great software where they have every form tax related to each state and federal. Ultra tax is a good job to keep updating to the newest versions of all forms as tax laws keep changing.
This is another great product by Thomson Reuters. TR puts a lot of thought, money and effort into their products.
Cons
We signed up end of June and our training didn't start until mid October. We were given 4 - 4hr sessions for the conversion (which we are still fighting) and how to us the program.
Using UltraTax CS in the cloud setting has been frustrating at times due to the hosting.
If your new to this profession its hard learn. Sometimes it can get buggy too.
Can be difficult to understand and become used to.

"ultratax CS a service that all accountants should consider "
Pros: I like how importing data is most useful. in addition error submission is quite helpful. I can easily enter and plan for my clients who usually need to plan for there taxes ether quarterly or yearly.
Cons: I don't like the navigation. it not easy learnable in order to learn and navigate.
"UltraTax is accurate and thorough when completing your tax returns"
Overall: Overall, because the resulting tax returns are accurate, I'd have to say that the experience was a good one. After using for a longer period any one will get the hang of it and will not want to go back.
Pros: The best thing about UltraTax is knowing that the output will result in an accurate tax return every time.
Cons: The learning curve can be a little daunting for some, especially when switching from a different software. Getting used to can take some time after using a different package for so many years.
"This has been an awful experience !"
Overall: RUN !!!! Do not purchase this overpriced and extremely time consuming software.
Pros: It is suppose to work hand in hand with the accounting software. It is very cumbersome to get set up with little to no help from Support.
Cons: Pretty much everything ! I have asked for my money back several times. This is suppose to be a high end software. IF you have HOURS to go thru and set up everything and get the proper training on how to do each phase MAYBE. We signed up end of June and our training didn't start until mid October. Quickbooks did not covert well, although we were reassured by the sales people that they did it all the time ! They have lied to me every step of the way. It can take days to get a response. AND now after paying over $20,000 for the accounting and tax software (for this year) we are being sent an invoice for Sales tax that they forgot to add.
"Ultra Tax Ease of use "
Overall: My overall experience with UltraTax CS was great. I really liked the ease of use.
Pros: I really liked the ease of use of UltraTax CS
Cons: I did not like the MMA that you have to do just to get in to the program.
"Very Expensive with Terrible Support"
Overall: I used to love Ultra Tax and recommend it to everyone. Now it's very expensive and it's getting so it's not worth the money.
Pros: the program is easy to use, and integrates with other CS applications
Cons: [sensitive content hidden] did away with e-mail support and expects users to text! I'm sorry, I don't have time to stare at my screen waiting for an answer to a text. They also started using support technicians from out of the country, and the technicians do not understand US taxes. I had one support rep that didn't know what a common form is. E-filing costs $15 per return if you don't purchase unlimited.
"Ultra Tax Software 1 Year experience"
Overall: I have filed almost 170 return in this tax season and it is very useful software for tax returns.
Pros: Ultra Tax is helpful for input the basic tax documents like 1099 Int, Div and 1099 B.
Cons: Import K-1 because If you file corporate return than only you can import K1 for Personal return.
"WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE"
Overall: Frustrated with the customer service. It sucks.
Pros: The program is great! Truly. There are quirks (like any software), but when you cannot figure something out there is essentially nobody there to help at all.
Cons: When you chat with them online they never help. They always run you in circles or claim that their server isn't working that that you need to call. How would that change anything? Our assigned account manager can never answer our questions, and always refers us to the online chat. What is the point of an account manager if they can never help us?
"I am hopeful there is better out there."
Pros: Overall, it gets the job done and it is overall user friendly to be able to figure it out.
Cons: This program is SO SLOW. If you have a large database of clients, especially large returns, I would not recommend ultratax. I wish I could use more than one window so a return could run when I file/assemble it and I can do something in another window, but it does not allow you to do this. The program would shut down more often than it should while I was working. Their customer support was not helpful either. There are a lot of glitches with the Thomson Reuters programs.
"Software is good, customer service is terrible"
Overall: The software is powerful and useful, but frequent outages mean that I would not recommend it.
Pros: The software is pretty robust. I use ACS (bookkeeping), Ultratax, and FileCabinet daily, and it works well for me.
Cons: Several times per year the software goes down completely and we aren't able to log in. Sometimes its back up and running in minutes, sometimes its hours, and often its days. Two years ago it was down all weekend right before Apr 15th. The problem is that communication during these outages is worthless (all they ever say is that there's "degraded performance" and "some users might not be able to log in), but that's small comfort when you can't even get into the software during the middle of tax season.

Pros: This is another great product by Thomson Reuters. TR puts a lot of thought, money and effort into their products. The software allows for streamlined control of data
Cons: Since it cloud based the response time could always be quicker. Regardless of the gigabit connection we use, it still seems to lag a bit.
"Robust tax system at a competitive price point"
Pros: Robust, full-service tax preparation software at a more favorable price point than other competitors.
Cons: Some of the error flags are difficult to override.

Overall: Using UltraTax CS in the cloud setting has been frustrating at times due to the hosting.
Pros: UltraTax CS has the capacity to house all the information you need for preparing taxes.
Cons: Some of the navigation through the input screens are not intuitive.
"Terrible Product. Don't waste your money."
Overall: Yikes.
Pros: Terrible software and expensive. Other softwares are comparable (if not better quality) and are a third of the price. EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS BEFORE PURCHASING.
Cons: Price, they are scammers - kept charging me with a subscription and wouldn't let me cancel. Also the quality of the software is not good for the price.
"Steep learning curve can be a hassle"
Overall: It was ok after some trial and error. Its pricey and the customer service is shoddy at best.
Pros: It works well once you get the hang of it. It does what most other tax softwares do, but it also can connect to other TR apps as well.
Cons: The learning curve is steep. If your new to this profession its hard learn. Sometimes it can get buggy too,

Overall: Overall I would recommend ultra tax as it is easy to use and covers every tax form
Pros: Ultra tax is a great software where they have every form tax related to each state and federal. Ultra tax is a good job to keep updating to the newest versions of all forms as tax laws keep changing. In my eyes ultra taxes one of the two biggest players in tax software.
Cons: The software is great however the customer support lacks. If you have an issue you could be on hold waiting for a representative for hours.
"Great for complicated returns"
Pros: The software is exceptional for completing complicated returns. Very thorough once one understands all of the ins-and-outs of the software. Very organized.
Cons: Can be difficult to understand and become used to. Not well suited for beginning accountants.
