### "Reliable service for years through upgrades and changes in our practice"

July 29, 2016

5.0

Our firm has used Amicus since its early days and it has been a valuable addition to our practice, saving lawyers' time by making it easy to keep track of contacts, time, billing information, and for document generation. From an administrator perspective, it is easy to maintain and upgrade with good developer support and admin tools.

Pros

The core functionalities of Amicus are so ingrained in our firm's work process and so easy to use that most users take it for granted. Features added in recent years, such as Amicus Anywhere, give us confidence that Amicus is changing in the same direction as our firm while maintaining the core functionalities that we rely on.

Cons

Our worst problems with Amicus have always been caused by integration with third-party programs such as PCLaw and especially Outlook/Exchange. Integration is a huge part of what makes Amicus useful, however.

### "Poor Support"

February 12, 2019

3.0

I was a big supporter of Amicus Attorney and referred several local firms to them. Their support staff was great. Ever since the merger with Abacus, the support quality has dropped significantly. I'm so fed up with them that I'm going to switch to a new case management program when my current Amicus contract is up.

Pros

It was a good, easy to use program with excellent support.

Cons

The support is now terrible. The support staff has limited knowledge of the program, which has become buggy since the merger with Abacus. They are quick to refer matters to the "next level" support person who will call you back. But they don't call you back. You have to keep calling them.

### "Amicus Performance "

March 30, 2020

4.0

I have used Amicus Attorney in the past and have always been happy with the efficiency it offers. I am the administrator and daily user of the program. The billing program is easy to use and the organization of client's files is a time saver.

Pros

The efficiency. The program for billing is easy to operate. The management of client's files is essential to our practice. Being able to add all contacts to a file is a time saver when working with same.

Cons

Nothing I can recall at this moment. I so far have not had a bad experience with this program.

### "Amicus Review"

September 17, 2018

3.0

I like amicus however I don't use a lot of its features. I have been a user for 20 years and still need dropbox as I could never figure out where or how to store documents within the Amicus files. I like the ability to track court dates and the notes that occurred in court.

Pros

The ability to put in the notes that allow me to recall the details of a case years later.

Cons

It isn't apple compatible without the Cloud. I tried to transfer to the cloud years ago and I had too many files and your staff was unable to complete the transfer. Gavel and Gown upgraded me to the server edition and I have been using it with a parallel program that is very slow. Also sometimes Amicus becomes disconnected from the server. Now Amicus wants to charge me a 300% increase to upgrade to the personal server. The cost is prohibitive for a small firm like mine.

### "I enjoy the function and possibilities. However, the customer service leaves something to be desired"

January 31, 2018

4.0

Calendar, file maintenance. easy access to electronic file. easy note-taking and tracking.

Pros

We use this software everyday and relay on it predominately for scheduling and file upkeep. We love the ability to log phone calls, share notes and the ability to quickly access important data about the case. I personally also love all the functions and options we have within the software.

Cons

Customer service always makes us feel like we're bothering them, frequently ignores our input or opinions. I often feel like they're talking down to me - even if I show them that something unusual is happening, they act like I'm over reacting and I should just deal with it. Its very frustrating and makes me feel like I should change services to a company that wants to have my patronage

### "I used to love Amicus"

September 20, 2018

3.0

The system bogs down, freezes and is horribly slow. Customer support seems non-existent these days (and I was a user of the programme from back in the '90s, and it seemed to work great then and we had more users at that firm).

Pros

The calendar and linking of ALL information for each file, including contacts and bring forward dates that automatically calculate out from a date certain, etc., is so incredibly beneficial in our world of litigation.

Cons

Over the years support for the programme has eroded. Customer service is terrible. The programme has changed a great deal and is now VERY slow in its operation, often freezing. It has become cumbersome to use yet it is still the most comprehensive programme out there, to our knowledge, for managing complex (and not so complex), litigation matters.

### "Inflexible"

March 1, 2019

4.0

Be sure you thoroughly evaluate it and test it before you buy it. Check every detail twice. What I received is not what was promised, and they make no compromise after the fact.

Pros

Staff loves the back office billing. Timer is pretty easy to use and post time with, though it does require more clicks than it should.

Cons

Very inflexible. Little things, such as expanding windows, changing font size etc are not allowed. System won't allow you to save a clients file to a drive or disk. Emails are only stored on a cloud system, not your internal servers so you can't back up emails or save to a drive. Once Abacus bought out Amicus the attitude has become take it or leave it and they no longer work with the client to provide any customization.

### "It is an ok product but there are newer better products for firm management"

February 12, 2024

3.0

It was easy to use and fairly intuitive.

Pros

It was the product I used from the beginning of my career at a law firm. It has a few quirks but it was a good product. We would have continued to use Amicus Attorney if they did not stop supporting integration with PCLaw.

Cons

It has several quirks but you can work around those once you are more familiar with the program. There are better products out there for less money, however.

### "Customer support lacking"

July 22, 2016

2.0

We are going on 3 years using this product. Overall since we only use it for timekeeping and billing it works OK. However, the billing side is buggy and there are a limited number of staff who can fix the problems. They accept support email, but rarely answer them. I often wait 15 minutes or more on hold before I get through to support. Support is of the "take a message and have someone else fix the problem" not first-line answers to problems.

Pros

Timesheets and billing are interfaced automatically.

Cons

Bugs in billing: e.g., last month I ran 358 bills that never printed. I had to get the list of bills from a report and then individually print them by going into the bill images and requesting a print. That is the second time that happened and they have no explanation for why it happened or how I can prevent it.

### "Amicus Premium 2016 update"

August 1, 2016

4.0

Love the software. Having the client contact information, the team's calendars, file events, ToDo's, and the individual team members timesheets at my fingertips is invaluable when working the the clients' files.

Pros

For me, the most used feature is, of course, the calendar, followed very closely by the phone message/communications feature.

Cons

It would be easier if the reports feature, used to print timesheets and phone messages, printed in a better format. Currently, the format used is one that has to be then modified and/or edited for easier readability before printing.

### "Software Review"

December 11, 2018

5.0

We are able to exchange all information for a client between PCLaw and Amicus. Cuts down on the double re-entries. I can attach files to the contact for quick reference. Clients are able to have their copies of pleadings and correspondence, cuts down on mailing expense.

Pros

The calendar. Ease of creating an event and tagging files to the event.

Cons

When setting a new appointment I can not go to new contact and fill in that information and tag it to the Soderstrom New Client File and then when the new client hires us and I open a new file in PCLaw and do the exchange, Amicus creates a new contact and now I have two contacts for the same person. It would be nice if there was some way to merge the contacts into one and then I would only have to enter the information once.

### "Abacus Senior Development Manager"

February 23, 2017

5.0

Because of the Senior Business Development Manager for Abacus, A.R., assigned to our account, our experiences with Amicus/Abacus are always positive. A.R. is absolutely fantastic to work with, very knowledgeable, and able to get immediate results. Having A.R. on your staff will ensure your customers are always happy and satisfied.

Pros

Amicus has been bought by Abacus.

Cons

Amicus Attorney has constant problems that never seem to be fixed. Now that Abacus has bought Amicus, and is running the show, I am sure it will get better because Abacus products/representatives are topnotch professionals who actually care about putting a great product out for their customers, and genuinely care about their customers, and always go the extra mile for them.

### "Functionality"

September 20, 2018

2.0

I have recently received great tech support and have resolved many problems that we have been experiencing. I'm looking forward to many more updates.

Pros

I like being able to capture all of my client information - I really like the upgrade drag and drop option for folders and documents. I like being able to print a summary for each file

Cons

We were told at purchase that we would be able to create the reports that we were needing to create at that time. This info turned out to not be true unless we added another software to create these reports, Amicus would not create on its own. I do not like that there was no support for our initial set up, and because of that I do not believe we are utilizing the software to its full potential.

### "I don't use it as much as the paralegals in our office. I am the bookkeeper, so my usage is limited"

January 30, 2018

files database

Pros

links to calendar and people easily, Sorts alphabetically and by matter number so you can easily find a file. I am the one along with another co-worker, who opens the original file. I like that it doesn't take long to set up a new file. I like how you can see many options, such as time spent, rate, AR, Trust, people associated etc.

Cons

not easy to fix mistakes, even as an administrator. Can't close some files and don't know why because it says user name and ID are already taken. Support isn't great. When we have tried to get an answer, can't get anyone on the line right away, no follow up except email, which is exactly the same as I looked up in help topics and didn't work

### "I had a wonderful experience with one of the technical support representatives!"

August 1, 2018

5.0

Pros

Following is my email to a technical support representative after another wonderful experience: I am still out of the office, but have been testing Amicus on that workstation with great success the past two days. I'm a bit baffled by the whole thing. I will share the only change to the machine since we last spoke I uninstalled the OEM Microsoft Office 365 Click-to-Run software that came installed w/the Dell PC. I had installed Office 2016 when it arrived, and configured to our MS account, appropriately. However, in my attempt to clean up any unnecessary applications, I removed that small component and voila!!! Thank you so very much for your diligence and professionalism! My experience in working with you has been superb!"

Cons

Although we have experienced some issues, the technical support team always assists in a timely manner.

### "Quality, quality control, and customer service are among the worst I have ever worked with."

February 2, 2018

1.0

Pros

It keeps a large database where each client's information, files, and communications are accessible.

Cons

Not very user friendly. Lots of blank space and small text -- why not make the text larger?? Many simple user-friendly features could be added, but they seem to always be playing catch-up with other problems they are not able to fix. Updates containing fixes are often promised, but not forthcoming. They would rather sell the next "Upgrade" product than fix the current release. The Quality Control department has no incentive to fix things. Customer Service is really awful. A government bureaucracy might be the only customer service department that is worse than Amicus.

### "Exchange with QB is lacking"

March 23, 2020

3.0

6/10 overall.

Pros

Cost effect client management and time keeping software.

Cons

I don't like the way that the client trusts reports are printed and the inability to customize the reports. It makes 3-way trust reconciliation difficult.

Reason for choosing Amicus Attorney

The ability to bill and exchange data with QuickBooks.

### "Good program overall, phenomonal help desk (seriously they are amazing), not really worth it though."

March 30, 2020

4.0

Efficiency.

Pros

Outlook integration. Calendaring. Tickles. File management. Time management (ability to export to custom csv file is great)

Cons

Limited multiple monitor support. Amicus Anywhere isn't comprehensive (its not all of amicus, should be called Almost all of Amicus Anywhere). Very robust program that has a lot of capabilities of which we us maybe 50%, so sort of frustrating have to pay for that. Would be nice to trim down some options and get a better discount.

### "Difficulty installing software. Did not do enough advance prep for upgrade. "

February 5, 2018

2.0

Still waiting to assess

Pros

Centralization of documents, email, phone calls etc. It is extremely valuable when more than one lawyer is working on the file.

Cons

Issues with PCLAW link. Not happy with customer support. They do not seem to be able to assist with some issues and do not call back when they say they will. We still have unresolved issues. The software was purchased in November, installed at the end of December, and we still have problems. We want to get the issues resolved before we being with the training of new users. Therefore we are frustrated with the delays as the new users are still not using the software, even though I am paying for them.

### "Experience"

August 5, 2016

4.0

The customer support is great. The functionality is great. We have used this product for 8 years. It holds all information for a client in one place. I wish the online version was as robust as the desktop version. We would like to move to the online version but would lose some functionality.

Pros

I like that Amicus has all emails associated with the file, all time posted, you can enter notes all in one place

Cons

The software is not that easy to figure out without someone teaching you how to use it. Reports are a little troublesome.
