Pros The best thing about Axis TV is that once you learn the basics, the system is very easy to use. There are not many options to choose from so you don't get lost in endless menus. Adding content to your playlist is straightforward and simple. You can also easily see all of the content on each of your playlists and select a playlist that you would like to edit. Cons The main issues I have with AxisTV is similar to what I like most about it, the suite is very simple and does not give a lot of options. You can easily display content, such as a picture file or a video file, by just uploading the content. However, I would like to be able to design more advanced displays with motion graphics and a combination of content within the system. In addition, the interface has the look and feel of a Windows 95 program. A little work on the design side and the ability to create content with templates would go a long way. You can use lots of file types and feeds other than images and videos. We also have hundreds of templates you can use for quick messages, or you can design your own templates in the CMS. The design app lets you create custom messages, layouts and templates with dynamic data and graphic visualizations. You can also pull in web-based graphics, dashboards and other content automatically. It was expensive. The hardware was unstable. The software was not user friendly. Pros Nothing. Both admins and users hated using this software. Cons The players were unreliable and required constant updates, which involved a lot of manual labor. This is really bad for us across multiple regional campuses. We wasted weeks of time trying to maintain this software. The content management was horrendously difficult to use. I was an admin on this for 5 years and could never navigate the online menus enough to schedule content. Pros I liked the ease of use of this product. Templates allow users to incorporate several different messages on one screen (event, time, date, ticker). Cons We could only get 3 or 4 licenses. It is extremely reliable and updates almost instantly when new content is uploaded. However, it is a bit challenging to use the online interface. It is also very picky on the format of videos used in playlists, and can shut down an entire playlist if a video is not the right codec or format. Pros AxisTV is very reliable to continue playing slides and more advanced content when you need it. It takes very little time for the system to update content to each screen and can effortlessly broadcast to hundreds of screens. Cons It's not the most user friendly interface. A few steps need to be taken to publish content, and some of the steps aren't exactly clear. We try to only have a few people publish to our screens because we would need to train others on how to use the interface. It also only handles a few types of advanced content like videos. Videos need to be of a certain codec and format before being displayed properly on screens. This makes it more difficult when working from a mac background. We've had their products at my workplace for over 10 years. Cons It is very expensive. A license to use the software for one digital signage player! Also the software is pretty clunky and not intuitive to use. I guess it is basically ok for displaying slide shows on TV screens. But if you want to do something more flashy with it: ie stream videos, social media, dynamic content, etc. it is a very difficult and complex to get it working. The Visix platform allows us to do just that. The Customer Support team and our Client Relationship Managers are always quick to get back to us if we ever have a concern about the platform and applications. Additionally, Visix is constantly approving and adapting, specifically, to our needs. As we all know, technology and its users are constantly in flux, so we need to be quick to adapt -- the Visix team and Digital Signage platform has done a great job with this!
