It gives you the ability to communicate easily with students, including posting and collecting homework assignments and facilitating online discussions. Cons It's not easy for novices and you need a tech support person to set it up and run if for you as you effectively need to build it from scratch. It gives you the basic tools but you create the template. In addition moodle gives you the opportunity to see your upcoming homework, tests and other activity. Pros I have been using the product for approximately 2 years where it can help you to do or deliver your work and in the field of exams the programming method is very good. Cons There are times when the product does not allow you to deliver jobs due to excess size or another type of product failure and another problem is that the notifications arrive late. I highly recommend it over the commonly used Blackboard which I previously used for 8 years. Pros Moodle is very user friendly and has an aesthetically pleasing interface. You can easily navigate between courses and sections of the same course. Assignments, grades, solutions, and other course information is easily input and uploaded to the system and viewed by students. Cons It frequently has outages for maintenance and upgrades. Although these are planned in advance and during times of low usage, it would be nice to use software that is reliable 24/7 for that student who needs to upload an assignment at the last minute. Any problem or idea that one has, they can find a solution in the forums or ask questions that are answered. Pros I really love that it is open source and free. I have been able to implement it as a solution with very little overhead or equipment needs. I actually implemented its use statewide at an agency where I was before my current position as well. It is very powerful and constantly improving. It is a SCORM compliant Learning Management System (LMS) that can compete with any other that is out there. Any questions I have had or issues were quickly answered by the robust support community. Cons I cannot think of any negatives for the software. Maybe that one gets strange looks when saying they use Moodle since the name recognition isn't that widespread. Moodle makes it easy to create a complete curriculum, upload courses and create assignments with corresponding grading systems. Moodle can adapt to schools, universities and companies. I like that Moodle is accessible; users can download it for free or purchased for a very affordable price considering all the features Moodle has to offer. Cons Moodle support multiple languages. Moodle is fully available in Spanish for instance; however, if you choose Arabic, only some heading are translated. It would be great if Moodle considers becoming fully available in Arabic as it would allow more people to have access to it.
