### "Brightree software is easy to learn and navigate."

I personally love the Brightree program. I also believe the support team does a great job when I have opened tickets. Fast and accurate!

Pros

I am a biller and scheduler, which makes both jobs easier to understand in the program. Scheduling with Brightree ensures frequency's are entered correctly and in turn makes checking visits at billing time go smoothly. There is no fear that regulations are met with this program. The task hot list notifies us of any upcoming regulated tasks needing attention. It is not hard to find any info in this system. everything is where is should be.

Cons

Internet access in the field is needed to use the communicate feature. Sometimes updates are too drastic

Good system, easy to use.

Pros

Very good for ease of getting reports to manage care and for management needs. Assessment is very good.

Cons

Inconsistent with calendars in system- would prefer the calendar view not the roll type calendar. When pulling new patients or schedule changes to I-pad synching can be just too much. Even when getting several things done between synching. When training new staff they usually comment about this being excessive. Would be nice to be able to put comments into the wound assessment.

I called Customer Support often, sometimes a couple of time a day in the beginning, and everyone was always so helpful. Team always took the time to explain things in a manner that I could understand. They made me feel like I was very important and my needs and concerns were important to them. They never made me feel like I should have known the answer. They were very kind and friendly. Now I hardly ever call Customer Support because the system really is easy to work with once you get a handle on things. I love all of the reports that are available at my figure tips!! Makes my job as the Director of Quality & Compliance so much easier!! Thank YOU Brightree!

### "Document Management Program is AWFUL"

Pros

Nothing...The program might be good for billing, and other things but in this day and age your program is only as good as it's weakest link. And their document management program is extremely weak.

Cons

Document Management Program is TERRIBLE - If you're a company that generates paperwork on a daily basis and you're forced to use this program, you're screwed! I have as close to a business line T1 internet connection as you can get and it's still the absolute slowest program I've ever had to use. I literally have to work EVERY DAY to stay on top of the paperwork generated here.

Pros

\*To start, this review is coming from a CNA. Nurses use MatrixCare and there experience might differ from mine. As a CNA, I think Matrix is great. It's easy to chart on a patient using a kiosk on the floor, on a desktop computer, or by using an IPad. You can view the electronic health record easily for each patient. Once you chart on something, the red outline that indicates that it's due goes away.

Cons

Matrix is not the best software to document positioning, which is why many facilities will create their own paper charts.

When I first started using this program 5 years ago I was intimidated. I couldn't figure out the flow of it but over time and many trials and error I was able to figure it out. As years passed there have been great changes such as videos that provide step by step information for clinicians to learn and navigate easily and the use of IPAD's.

Pros

Easy to navigate once you get the hang of it.

Cons

On the assessment printout or review tab I wish that we could see all of the options that are available instead of being routed to it if we choose a certain answer. One other thing we don't know what all the options are in the assessment for RN

I am a Home Health biller, in years past we have never found anything that would allow us to track receivables within the same system as clinical until we found this product. We can rely on the information provided on reports, and can count on support to give us solutions should we encounter any issues. We have grown tremendously over the past several years, without this software we would have absolutely had to hire additional staff. It certainly has streamlined our processes. Would highly recommend this product.

Pros

Dependable, plentiful reports, support is helpful and knowledgeable.

Cons

Pulling reports can be a bit slow, some days worse than others. The support system is a ticket system, which can be frustrating if you want an immediate answer. They usually try and resolve the end of the day, though, unless it needs to be sent up to the next level of support, then it can be days before you get a solution. I wish there was direct phone support instead.

Needs more updates someone needs to develop the inpatient unit section and make it more user friendly. In some areas of our agency it has made the work double or triple and more time consuming. When time management is an important part of your job, this added work does not help.

Pros

The Ipad is easy to use, light weight and we are able to carry these to our patients rooms. Not all tasks can be done at the bedside but doing an inpatient entry works well. having the communication piece is nice to be able to send important messages to other disciplines and our billing departments.

Cons

Needs to be tailored to the buyers needs. The inpatient section I did not feel was developed well at all. Most of what we have learned has been trial and error. It is a bit disheartening when you call for help on a matter and nobody seems to know what to do, what happened, etc. The inpatient initial assessment is too long. The section about the insurance and income which the liaisons review and have the pt/HCPOA sign falls on the admitting RN. These are areas that the admitting RN did not do, which in school we were taught, don't sign it if you didn't do it. But this is what we are having to do. and if we put down the exact time we started and ended the initial assessment, along with all the other pieces of the admission it would most likely be 4-5 hours. This is with symptom managing 5 other patients and the new one, answering phones, call lights, talking to family and any other issues that come up. Please, if you do read this, make this area easier, quicker- pull pieces together or something.

Our hospice agency started using Brightree Hospice software in November 2014. I like how the software takes an interdisciplinary approach to care that hospices require. It also drastically reduces the amount of time spent preparing for our IDT meeting. The interdisciplinary care plan is clean and easy for the clinicians to add or make changes. I also like the scheduling component as it does not allow a visit to be made without an order. This helps keep our agency in compliance.

Pros

I like how we have been able to get rid of our paper charts and now everything is in one location - in Brightree.

Appreciation of other softwares in comparison

Pros

Can use it when in areas without WiFi. Care planning comprehensive Sample interventions/goals flow from problem areas of care plan

Cons

Scheduling a visit takes 10 minutes Constantly having to sync Syncing takes a ridiculous amount of time and you have to sync for any change you need to make. Therapy notes not consistent with terminology; dont follow systems review appropriately , etc Cannot see others notes until fully completed Support is only available during business hours when you are trying to see patients. Frequently kicks you out of system and you have to log in.

### "Clinician's view of Brightree"

Pros

The software is easy to use and intuitive. It is easy to navigate around in a patient's record. This is especially important during an intake visit because patient's don't always answer questions in any specific order and it's certainly helpful to be able to document the information as they provide it. I also love how quickly I can access the record of any active patient-sync times are very short! Brightree has been very responsive to all inquiries and issues and it's helpful that they keep our agency up to date on the status of any issues we've had.

Cons

What I like least about the Brightree product is that currently the clinicians are not able to pull together and preview their 485s. It's my understanding that Brightree is currently working on this and that at some point this feature will be available on the Ipad.

As a hospice social worker, I have found the format of Brightree easy to use and navigate. It is wonderful that you are able to access a patient's chart while completing a clinical document. The screens flow in a logically manner through the assessment, and are clearly marked to ensure that all mandatory questions are answered. The scheduling features makes it easier to manage my day and also help to assure that I have completed documentation for all visits. I would recommend this program to other hospice agencies.

Pros

The ability to swipe through the screens to access all of a patient's chart as well as the ability to look at other documents in the chart while completing a note.

Cons

My only real complaint with the Brightree software is the frequency in which it needs to be synced especially when trying to schedule and create new goals for the care plan.

Overall, probably the best EMR I've used so far. Also, I've had good experience when reaching out to customer support.

Pros

the fact that it will not allow you to submit documentation that's missing mandatory information. Easy flow when navigating through the note while documenting. For the most part, customer support response is very good and helpful

Cons

For iPad users - Inability to delete or error information entered by mistake (orders, medications, dx...)

To be able to access chart easily. Having medical history so handy means so much when you are out in the county

Cons

I understand about having to sync after adding information but is there any way to only do a complete sync once a day, and a shorter one when changing or adding information? Just thinking...

I have used this product for the past year and 1/2 and it truly has been a blessing. I have worked at my agency for 15 years and before I filed all medical records in paper charts with my prior job title. I would spend numerous hours sorting filing and organizing charts. Now with this system, everything is right there in front of me easy to access.

Pros

The pros of the system are having everything you need right in front of you and not having to spend hours documenting, organizing or filing, also having easy access to an end of year reports.

Cons

The only thing I dislike would be when the system is taking too long to log into a file or report

I've been using the software for about 7 years. It's much more comprehensive than the prior software we'd used, so it was kind of tricky to learn, however, it's much easier now due to improvements made & the training is now much more in depth. Once I got a feel for it, I liked it. It makes my job easier.

Pros

Built-in compliance everywhere, almost everything can be customized. Tons of reports.

Cons

Glitchy sometimes when there's an update, but issues generally resolve quickly

Pros

Brightree allows for scheduling patients and keeping a busy patient load managed. The offline capability is great for rural visits.

Cons

The software is not as customizable as could be desired and our IT manager often had difficulty creating formats for Chaplain department.

Ive used a number of different computerized charting systems over the years, Brightree has exceeded my expectations over the past several years. The presentation of the software gives easy access to the information I need for pt care, the ability to plan and rearrange my schedule on the go, and the format I need to move through my assessment easily and effectively. My communications with Brightree IT staff have also been exceptional. I would absolutely recommend this product.

Pros

As the billing coordinator I can say that almost all of my monthly billing is completed and billed on the 1st day of the month. There are so many checks and balances that the software does on its own, it really helps you to stay complaint and ensure you meet regulations.

Cons

Biggest con for me is no discontinue effective date in the authorization screen and this is minimal.

I use Brightree throughout every day of my work week. It is my go-to program for scheduling. It helps me a great deal with keeping the patients, nurses and therapists schedules organized and managed.

Pros

It offers different options of how to schedule patients/staff depending on your style of scheduling. I love how I can use the global calendar to get an idea of the overall number of patients the nurses are seeing on one day but can also search under one specific nurse to see the details of her schedule that day. A nice new tool that has come out of the updates is the ability to schedule an entire order out by clicking on individual dates on a calendar. This saves time and the frustration of the tedious effort of having to schedule a 10 m 2m one day at a time. Another feature that is enjoyable is that when you use the print the calendar option for a staff you can see what towns they will be visiting that day. This makes it easier to make the best effort in putting together a schedule for a nurse with time spent less on traveling and more on patient care.

I am a Home Health RN that uses both sides of brightree office and ipad.

Pros

Scheduling is very easy on office side. Ipad is very easy to use for OASIS and note documentation. It has a lot of built in teaching and intervention things to tie to your note. On office side it has capability to copy a note before erroring it out which allows for corrections to be made without having to re enter all of the note. The communication notes are a great tool. The flow of the note is very good.

Cons

The ipad is set up to only see a 3 month on a calendar period (for example right now you can see December, January, February) which does not allow any addendums to notes before December if needed. Length of time support gets back to you on correcting a problem is slow however that seems to be improving lately. When you heal a wound if that note you healed it on is not closed before the next note that wound stays active and it causes problems in documentation. You have to sync a lot to schedule a visit and add a note.

The product has been great overall; the customer support has been even better. For billing, employees and data submissions Brightree is great. From a new hire standpoint the Brightree University could be improved but I understand this is being worked on. New users do struggle with learning depending on their competency with technology (not unique to Brightree).

Pros

The Brightree staff has been excellent. We were thoroughly trained on the product and passed off to Support. Support has been outstanding so far.

Pros

The ease to enter patients is one of the best features for this software. I secondly like how it is linked to the insurances and I can check eligibility via Brightree.

Cons

Duplicate Patients!!!! There are so many duplicate patients and you can not delete them once you put in a note. There should be a way to merge these patients.
