The clarity within the sections and tabs are helpful, as well as the information being saved so that the same checkmakers or data does not have to be entered each week (like in Cerner). Pros The ease of use with clear sections for documentation. I also really like how information is carried over between notes which helps track what has happened in previous sessions. I also like how the group notes are distributed and it's helpful to be able to save and edit macros. Cons I wish I could remove tabs that are not needed in my typical note template and have options to "personalize" my notes, like saving certain subheadings within a template. I can send reminders to my clients so they keep compliance with their visits, which is great. Pros Valant provides a great experience, the user experience is very nice, the costumer support is very effective and they are fast to respond and give you an answer. It integrates billing easily and helps me with keeping track of hours of service. The scheduler is very versatile, and helps with the workflow, and I can see how all my staff are doing. Cons The updates might get in the way of your work, but they usually announce when the system is going to be down for maintenance so you can plan ahead. It has been an e3ffective tool to allow me to have a practice on my own, eprescribe, bill, collect, and more. I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the Beta test on the AI and it has continued to improve over time. Pros I have historically been a bad note taker (since 3rd grade). The Valant EHR has been a valuable tool for five years since opening my private practice. The AI has been incredible and catching everything that is discussed. Even the little things that would have totally skipped my mind to document later. This will be invaluable going forward, especially for prior authorizations that were previously lacking all the information to get approved. Cons Not having a student version to accompany PMHNP precepts. There are inconviiences at times but they are addressed promptly. I needed somewhere to document that was not accessible by all the other district staff. I chose Valant because of the versatility and reasonable price. I like that I can fine-tune templates to fit the needs of my practice. I have had prompt help when I have had questions and my questions have been resolved. I also appreciate the availability of help built in to the program with tutorials. Pros I like the versatility of Valant. It is also a very affordable product and a good value for the money. I have had good results with customer support. I don't have to bill or deal with payments so I am not familiar with that part of the product. I appreciate the security of the program to store sensitive information. Cons I don't really have a least favorite part of Valant. December 10, 2024 5.0 Implementation was not a difficult process. We got a lot of support and did not have any major issues besides maybe some scheduling concerns with trainers. We have been able to navigate the system and address things quickly and most everybody in the office is using the system to the full capacity. We have enjoyed continuous updates and improvements to the system and really appreciated some of the updates as they have facilitated workflow. We like the treatment plan update, customizable forms for intake and other things that have changed in the last little while. Pros It is easy to use and navigate. It definitely is catered to behavioral health professionals and that is easy to see. The implementation is not near as intense as what other programs might look like. Cons I do not like that it is advertised as customizable but the notes portion of it is not truly customizable. Another feature we rely on are the automated appointment reminders. Our patients heavily rely on them too. Pros This is a very user friendly platform. I'm not the most computer savvy person, and the knowledge base is a fantastic resource if I ever need a refresher on how to do anything. Valant is always coming out with upgrades and new features that continue to effectively help with time saving, patient relations etc. Cons The hold times to get through to someone over the phone for help can be quite long. Fortunately, a lot of information can be found in the knowledge base, but sometimes you need to speak to an agent and the hold times can be excessive. Only automated "we got your message, but we're swamped. If you no longer need a reply, let us know. Otherwise please be patient we'll get to you when we can" canned replies. This is TYPICAL of several past email requests. Calling is difficult due to time-zone differences, so email is by far more practical for my solo practice. Pros fair pricing. reliable scheduler, albeit a little cumbersome and old-skool. integrated schedule / billing was fairly easy to submit in batches. mostly, i just keep using it because it's what I originally set up for my practice. I have buyer's remorse all the time. Cons For several YEARS (literally), Valant used outdated web technology (Silverlight) that was incompatible with several web browsers and the latest MacOS. They actually encouraged users NOT to update web browsers and desktop OS because it would break compatibility. I've had to DOWNGRADE my firefox browser to an old, obsolete, unsecure version because that was the only way I could access Valant on my Mac. POOR QUICK CLINICAL NOTES MODULE: they TRY to make click-click-click notes sound like "natural language," but colleagues got annoyed and felt like I was faxing them boilerplate notes. Sure notes meet billing requirements, but don't naturally capture actual patient encounters with nuance, which is important in mental health. The notes are several pages long, a waste of ink and paper for the amount of actual content. I stopped using their notes module altogether and went back to paper charts within 6months. It was embarrassing to send my Valant notes to consultants and PCPs. A lot of clients have trouble getting onto the portal because it is not supported by many browsers. And a lot of clients use their phone. Documentation and the way it prints out in a professional manner is a plus, customer service - especially for billing - they go above and beyond to resolve issues/answer questions. Never make you feel inadequate. Appointment reminders have made a huge difference in reducing no shows. Pros Customer support is awesome. Usually the wait time to talk to a live person is short and usually the person answering the phone can resolve the issue without having to escalate it. The billing system takes time to understand how all pieces work together - but after practice and the assistance of customer support - it is user friendly, efficient use of my time. Cons The department that has the worst customer service is accounting for sure. They do not return voicemails and only respond to emails. However, some issues/questions are better resolved by a quick phone call vs. multiple emails back and forth.
