Customer support is helpful. The primary reasons I rated the product 2 stars is it is not totally cloud based and to review notes they have to be downloaded to your computer. This is a hassle and needs to be fixed. The second issue is that the treatment plan tool does not have templates to use as presented. There is only the primary template for depression. This was a bit misleading. The training and implementation were good and they were helpful. Pros Great training after purchase. Cons Not completely cloud-based treatment plan tool not developed. Working with multiple ehrs, having one specific for psychiatry is perfect. A lot of useful features. Cons We should be able to create templates for routine items. I feel that our engagement leader should have been more forth coming with information regarding the importance of having the patients entered before our go-live. We should have had a soft go-live.where we entered the patient information then had a hard go-live. Also Review Source ER Elise R. October 2, 2008 5.0 I highly recommend this EMR to any interested psychiatrists or even to psychologists who may want to move into an electronic form of documentation. Pros This EMR is exactly what psychiatrists need, not more and not less. It has shortened the time I spend documenting, made my practice of medicine safer, particularly in that the medication list for each patient is before my eyes at all times when I'm working in the chart and is remarkably easy to update. Cons Entering the medication list the first time would take less time if I did not have to wait for drop down boxes. This may not apply to all users, and I have found no other negatives with this EMR. Review Source MH Michael H. It wasn't the cheapest program, but it did have all of the features we were looking to use. The salesperson was helpful and knowledgeable. The main reason that we purchased the program was due to other professionals that we knew who used it. Cons The note tabs are not as customizable as what we had hoped. I have had some customer service email responses that could be interpreted as snarky. We are just starting a practice (slowly) and we have not used the system in some time after training and we forgot several steps. Make sure that you keep those skills sharp because asking a question that was already asked will result in an email response suggesting that you have already been told that. Review Source KL Karen L. I like the drop-down menus and the amount of options for specific types of documentation. There are options for most types of counseling interventions. I like the mobile notes application the best. I do most of my documentation through mobile notes from my computer or tablet and can dictate into my tablet. The group note function is particularly helpful. Cons I sometimes have difficulty navigating the home page; there are so many options available that I feel I cannot possibly learn it all! Review Source KB Karen B. In all off my interactions with them, I felt the representatives went outf of their way to make sure I felt heard and my needs were met, if possible. Given the EHR choices, I found this product to give me the best value for the cost. Cons Happy with the vendor. I wish the calendar operated more closely to Google Calendar. I also wish I could input appointments on my phone and have them sync with the program (it works the other way around). I also wish I could search my non-client appointments. Valant, since I started with them in June 2006, has made excellent product enhancements and improvement in backup capabilities. The eRx feature has been useful, but still needs improvements in functionality. I have and would highly recommend Valant EMR to other psychiatric providers. Pros Good integration of functions of scheduling, progress notes, and practice reports Cons The eRx function has been a great addition, but is still a little tricky to navigate. For the private practice Valant is a clear winner. Pros Eliminate paper by easily scamnning all documents and uploading, shred the hard copy. Access my medical record from any internet connected PC. Keep a back-up copy with click and print to a PDF. Simple billing. Easily adapts to my style with Windows cut and paste for new documents and forms. Cons Interface still needs some work. The AJAX word processor is a little kludgy. I prefer to write my notes in MS Word then paste into the Valant progress notes template. November 27, 2018 4.0 Pros It was nice because the billing and notes can all be done under the same platform. And its not a hard program to learn once you get the basics. Cons It was a pretty basic program and didnt give us everything we needed at the time. We were looking for something to upgrade us from paper forms. One experience with a vendor was horrifying. A fake demo with fake data to make the software look perfect and that was not how it actually worked. Billers spend the most time with support when it comes to an EHR. If we can't use it and our clients also complain there is a problem. Valant came to our rescue and have not only made our providers happy but our billers as well. Their support is professional, courteous, and they have a large staff to make sure our needs and our providers needs are well taken care of. The software is easy to use and our clinicians love it. Therapist Mental Health Care Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "using for scheduling clients" May 20, 2015 4.0 Pros easy to use, easy to access information for clients Cons some tabs have too much information to delete (intake) and it is time consuming to delete and sort through unnecessary tabs. also, once you have a set schedule, blocking sessions by the hour, you are not able to add a half hour appointment time such as 4:30 instead of 4 (that I am aware of), so I feel that it limits my flexibility at times when scheduling clients. In regards to billing, the pop ups regarding insurance information can be helpful, however, in some situations they are inaccurate and we need to go behind and fix this ourselves to ensure there is accurate billing information (such as authorizations needed or not needed). No tech support, they don't even respond; if they do they can't fix it because it is a developer issue and they are focused on the billing side of their development. Valant is not a user friendly charting experience. Patient port very limited. Locked into contract with a Valant program that I really have strong negative feelings about. Think twice before you sign up and commit to a year with Valant. Statements not individually saved in EMR. Schedule takes too long to load after each entry then must scroll down even in full screen. E-scribe seperate too. Also it is affordable. Cons Lack of ability to confirm appointments using two methods. The staff is very helpful and made implementation very easy. Pros This system is easy to use and has both documentation and billing features in one place. I have tried many different software and database programs. Valant is the only web based program which meets all of my practice needs. Excellent technical assistance at no additional cost. Cons Lack of customization and very basic features. Then tech support tries to soothe customers frustration by saying, "there is over 2 million lines of data, that is quite a bit" Really, like we should care about that, not our problem, I paid too much for this software to work the way I was promised not to hear excuses. With a “click” of a button most notes are generated for you Cons Everything, it’s not user friendly and very time consuming it takes long periods of time to write a simple note and to go back and find a note is like an act of Congress .
