### "Excellent customization abilities within Scheduling and Reporting functions"

It makes it easy for staff to understand billing procedures and therefore they can better explain to patients when balances accrue due to coinsurance/copays/deductibles.

Pros

The programming is intuitive and each section of a patient's account, such as patient data and claim data, communicates together (which improves ease of use and decreases labor costs).

Cons

It needs to have bidirectional communication with our EHR, Practice Fusion. Claims are sent from PF to CMD, but patient data is not communicated from CMD to PF, which costs us labor to input the schedule and patient data twice, once in each program.

Overall it is a fairly good experience. I was very transparent when we signed up for Collab that this implementation period cannot drag out for a month or two and the Collab rep stated she understood that. Here we are a month later. This is honestly ridiculous to drag it out.

Pros

It is user friendly and easy to navigate. I honestly was able to learn more on my own than with assistance.

Cons

The implementation is sloppy and drags out. It should not take over a month to get this started. Extremely disappointing.

### "Training is taking too long and inadequate"

Supposedly I can reach out to my trainer and my representative. I have called my representative and emailed him several times for help. When I go to the chat or help desk they won't talk to me without going to my trainer who I have also emailed.

Pros

Ability to enter claims quickly without having to go from platform to platform. Other than that I find it confusing to use.

Cons

I cannot get anyone to answer my emails. I get trained for one hour per week and then I have to struggle alone until the next training. My business is in limbo. I really do not think my trainer has ever entered a claim so they really can't see what I see and do not understand what I am talking about. There was a problem with an ERA last week and I cannot settle the claim because he didn't know how to deal with it. He never followed up with me to let me know how to proceed.

Overall it has been a very good experience and it is way better than the old system our office used to use. It makes my job way easier than before.

Pros

I like the simplicity of CMD and that if I ever have questions, there is a knowledge center available. If I have more complex questions, I can always reach out to the support chat. I really enjoy the chat feature.

Cons

We operate on Hawaii Standard Time and the support chat is only available until 6PM Eastern Standard Time, there is only a limited window for us to be able to chat. If there were 24/7 support that would be great.

### "Collaborate MD"

Overall, it was pleasant. User friendly. Very easy on the eyes and very easy to train staff on in regards to the front office aspect of the software.

Pros

The scheduling platform that Collaborate offered was very user friendly and offered a lot of features that helped our practice even when we were bringing on new hires. I liked most that in scheduling/calendar area you could at a very quick glance differentiate between scheduled, checking in, rescheduled, cancelled, and no show appointments. The "appointment box" if you will call it, also provided a glance of "appointment notes" from staff such as "collect $$$ copay" or "get new ins card" etc. That feature was very helpful across our practice since our verification and billing was a separate department than our scheduling and reception. Billing was no complicated and user friendly. Initially when I started using this program I was new to everything and had never even done billing before but due to its simplicity and ease of use it was not complicated for me, a new biller, new to the software, to pick up and start billing with ease.

Cons

There were some gaps that could use some improvements. It lacked a comprehensive referral system, It lacked management access to fine tune the automations of the application such as patient reminders, patient broadcasting, same day appointment broadcasting ex. "the provider had an emergency, pls contact office to reschedule appt" or something of the sorts. Also, pt messaging features were lacking. I could not text a pt, email a pt, or anything like that from within the system.

The system may be great once I get it set up to work like it needs too. There are so many errors still happening and I need proper assistance to make sure things are updated to make sure it's working the way it's supposed too.

Pros

There isn't much to say other than it's user-friendly. Training was sub-par. Getting further assistance on how to make the system work effectively and efficiently is almost non-existent. Everyone I talk to wants examples of problems in the system but NO ONE seems to know how to set up the system properly to avoid issues.

Cons

The setup process has been a disaster. Information on how to get the product working efficiently has been a struggle since the beginning. The trainer assigned had very little knowledge and left out so many important details.

### "Collaborate another word for assigning you to do their work"

Terrible, no help for set up, trying to get you as a physician to call and interact with billing and credentialing software and really hindering the reimbursement of private practice.

Pros

The ease of set up, they made it feel like there was a comprehensive way to get started.

Cons

Things fell apart soon after, they assigned me tasks to get credentialed with payors and billing never returned a single dollar. Their staff is all off shore, good luck getting anything done during PST. Everything was routed to a ticket and you have to pick times that are often more than a week later. Support forwards to other “specialists” who take even longer. After trying to cancel with $0 reimbursed, they threaten to hold you to a yearly contract. After escalating to management and being told everything is sorted out, I was not surprised to get another bill for thousands of dollars.

### "Run, Don't Walk Away from the nickel and diming product with no customer service"

We purchased this product because of its close working relationship with a clearinghouse we worked with for our desktop program. Working with the same clearinghouse was a major factor for us. A little over two years later CollaborateMD is forcing its customers to change to an inferior clearinghouse that it owns. The clearinghouse does not even support Medicare Advantage and Medicaid products in our state. We completed transition paperwork over six months ago. We are now being charge a $250 penalty per month because their own clearinghouse hasn't done its job of completing the transition.

Pros

The program is easy to use and provides full reporting capabilities. Truly one of the best programs out there. But the CONS are horrible.

Cons

ZERO and I mean ZERO customer service when things go wrong. Constantly overcharging. For example, an EOB will be sent through three times and you will be charged three separate times. Likewise, an eligibility check doesn't go through and you must do it again. You will be charged twice. Many remittance advises are programmed into the system incorrectly so you must open the program to correct manually. When you put in a trouble ticket, such as on the misprogrammed RAs, nothing is done.

### "Works for some, not for others"

Overall there are good things about CMD, but honestly if I had it to do over, I would not have made the switch to this software. The training is minimal, the knowledge center leaves a lot to be desired, and the most basic daily tasks are not formatted in an intuitive way. Plus the pricing model, which sometimes dictates what we do within a month because we don't want the extra charges.

Pros

CMD has a lot of options for reports. I also like that you can view the patient account from many different areas.

Cons

Some of the basic functionality that you get with other billing softwares is not part of CMD. The overall flow is disconnected in favor of more options. I think it would be better to have the basic flow and then add on options and customizations from there. I also don't like that when working off a report, clicking a link to a different area and then closing that, does not return you to the report. It's just extra time and clicks to then navigate back to the report I was working off. Another major issue I have is the pricing model. Why is everything nickel and dimed to death for a billing service? Why do the providers get flat rate but we don't? Our monthly invoice can fluctuate wildly depending on how hard we work within a month.

### "A User Friendly Solution with Great Reporting"

Overall, my experience with CollaborateMD has been very good. It's easy to use, simple to navigate, and makes billing quick and efficient. The reporting features are a big plus, I really like being able to create our own reports. Out of all the billing platforms I have used, I enjoy this one the most.

Pros

What I appreciate most about CollaborateMD is the reporting functionality. The ability to create custom reports and tailor them to our clients specific needs is especially valuable.

Cons

One area that could be improved in CollaborateMD is the accessibility of support. While the team is helpful, having more representatives readily available to answer question, especially during peak hour, would greatly enhance the user experience.

Mostly positive. This is my first experience with this type of software. I could have used more specific training. I am learning "by trial and error." I also would like more training on reports.

Pros

The claims creation, submission and follow-up features are my favorite part.

Cons

All things concerning patient statements are my least favorite feature - they are ugly and expensive. The "statement batch print" search features do not function properly when a mix of electronic and paper statements are sent to patients.

Pros

We have been very happy with CollaborateMD in our practice. It is somewhat complex to learn, but once you get past the initial steep learning curve, we have found the software to be reliable, well integrated with our EMR (Elation), flexible, and accurate. Also, support has been responsive. We are very happy with our choice.

Cons

As mentioned above, the learning curve is steep. The user interface feels like the front end for a giant relational database, and while the very large number of options create tremendous flexibility, it's easy to get lost in all the settings.

Overall experience is good. I am able to get help when needed and my staff is able to navigate well through the system.

Pros

I like the ease of navigating through the software and the record keeping.

Cons

I wish there was a way to see the remits on the actual claim and the CMS 1500 form that was sent out to the insurance company on each claim. You have to click on several other areas to find what you need. If it was attached to the actual claim it would help.

Pros

When I was choosing my billing software, Collaborate MD caught my eye with the user friendly setup. I became even more impressed once I began using it, and I saw the quick turn-around on claims sent through their clearinghouse. From entering the claim to receiving the payment, Collaborate MD has been amazing.

Cons

I believe the reports could be better. More options to choose from on what goes into the reports.

I can't say enough about the support and training I received throughout setup and implementation. The trainer walked me through each phase and left no question unaddressed. By the time training was complete, I was fully equipped to work with CollaborateMD.

Pros

I most liked the ease of use, the flexibility in functionality, the integration with our EMR, and the visual attractiveness of the product.

Cons

I least liked the requirement to close patient information in one section before opening a different section for the same patient.

Pros

Collaborate is an easy to use software that is user friendly with many easy to navigate features. Many options on every reporting tab. Patient portal, demographics, financial and insurance information. This program also has auto updates that allows you to choose from the most updated icd10 codes and claim choices.

Cons

The customer service could use improvement. Collaborate requests that you contact customer support through a message center and sometimes with the busy work flow the instant assistance would be more beneficial. If you are working on a report for the practice and need immediate assistance, you have to place the task to the side until Collaborate contacts you via message or via a phone call. They do have a self help option that sometimes needs more assistance with a one on one customer service rep

I have been with Collaborate since I started my business in 2009, with over 28 clients. Collaborate has done it's job, I would not change.

Pros

AR summary, claim tracking, Electronic Billing.

Cons

When I find something the system does not have, I will let management know and it's implemented in a few weeks.
