It makes it easy for staff to understand billing procedures and therefore they can better explain to patients when balances accrue due to coinsurance/copays/deductibles.

Pros

The programming is intuitive and each section of a patient's account, such as patient data and claim data, communicates together (which improves ease of use and decreases labor costs).

Cons

It needs to have bidirectional communication with our EHR, Practice Fusion. Claims are sent from PF to CMD, but patient data is not communicated from CMD to PF, which costs us labor to input the schedule and patient data twice, once in each program.

Overall it has been a very good experience and it is way better than the old system our office used to use. It makes my job way easier than before.

Pros

I like the simplicity of CMD and that if I ever have questions, there is a knowledge center available. If I have more complex questions, I can always reach out to the support chat. I really enjoy the chat feature.

Cons

We operate on Hawaii Standard Time and the support chat is only available until 6PM Eastern Standard Time, there is only a limited window for us to be able to chat. If there were 24/7 support that would be great.

it's is an older system and has less automation, it could use more hyperlinks inside the menu's to help jump from one menu to another within seconds

Overall there are good things about CMD, but honestly if I had it to do over, I would not have made the switch to this software. The training is minimal, the knowledge center leaves a lot to be desired, and the most basic daily tasks are not formatted in an intuitive way. Plus the pricing model, which sometimes dictates what we do within a month because we don't want the extra charges.

Pros

CMD has a lot of options for reports. I also like that you can view the patient account from many different areas.

Cons

Some of the basic functionality that you get with other billing softwares is not part of CMD. The overall flow is disconnected in favor of more options. I think it would be better to have the basic flow and then add on options and customizations from there. I also don't like that when working off a report, clicking a link to a different area and then closing that, does not return you to the report. It's just extra time and clicks to then navigate back to the report I was working off. Another major issue I have is the pricing model. Why is everything nickel and dimed to death for a billing service? Why do the providers get flat rate but we don't? Our monthly invoice can fluctuate wildly depending on how hard we work within a month.

### "Collaborate another word for assigning you to do their work"

Terrible, no help for set up, trying to get you as a physician to call and interact with billing and credentialing software and really hindering the reimbursement of private practice.

Pros

The ease of set up, they made it feel like there was a comprehensive way to get started.

Cons

Things fell apart soon after, they assigned me tasks to get credentialed with payors and billing never returned a single dollar. Their staff is all off shore, good luck getting anything done during PST. Everything was routed to a ticket and you have to pick times that are often more than a week later. Support forwards to other “specialists” who take even longer. After trying to cancel with $0 reimbursed, they threaten to hold you to a yearly contract. After escalating to management and being told everything is sorted out, I was not surprised to get another bill for thousands of dollars.

What I appreciate most about CollaborateMD is the reporting functionality. The ability to create custom reports and tailor them to our clients specific needs is especially valuable.

Cons

One area that could be improved in CollaborateMD is the accessibility of support. While the team is helpful, having more representatives readily available to answer question, especially during peak hour, would greatly enhance the user experience.

I liked the onboarding process and getting set up as a user - the team was very friendly. They were helpful for us to navigate our delayed timelines.

Pros

The setup for billing is straightforward with adding providers, CPT codes, ICD codes and fee schedules. The way things tie together makes sense.

Cons

The UI and navigation is not very intuitive and it's sometimes odd to try to find the right things (e.g., trying to find a specific claim).

We have been very happy with CollaborateMD in our practice. It is somewhat complex to learn, but once you get past the initial steep learning curve, we have found the software to be reliable, well integrated with our EMR (Elation), flexible, and accurate. Also, support has been responsive. We are very happy with our choice.

Cons

As mentioned above, the learning curve is steep. The user interface feels like the front end for a giant relational database, and while the very large number of options create tremendous flexibility, it's easy to get lost in all the settings.

Overall experience is good. I am able to get help when needed and my staff is able to navigate well through the system.

I like the ease of navigating through the software and the record keeping.

Cons

I wish there was a way to see the remits on the actual claim and the CMS 1500 form that was sent out to the insurance company on each claim. You have to click on several other areas to find what you need. If it was attached to the actual claim it would help.

### "If you're looking for poor service, look no further"

I was with Collaborate MD for nearly 10 years. Did our billing in-house. In the past couple years, costs went up and service went down. It was nearly impossible to get someone on the phone if there was an issue. Recently, Collaborate changed clearinghouses from Change Healthcare to eProvidersolutions - presumably to save themselves money while increasing our monthly fees AND forcing us to have to do the leg work of changing all our payor agreements (30+). I got a surprise bill of $199 in January 2023 because I hadn't done the legwork of manually switching all of our payor agreements to the new clearinghouse - no notice was ever received by us even though CMD policy requires 30 day notice. When I called CMD, I was confused. At that time, I didn't realize we had any role in CMD's transition to a new clearinghouse. I spoke with \[sensitive content hidden\], was assured that if I started all the transition work and submitted the agreements by early February, the fee would be waived and we'd be back on track. So I did my part, the fee was not waived, I emailed \[sensitive content hidden\] and reminded him of his promise (on a recorded line) and he responded by saying the agreements had to be submitted AND approved by the end of January - 12 days after I received the surprise bill. Most agreements take weeks to be approved. It was stunning. I've sent over $30,000 to this company over the past decade and was treated horribly in the end. Do yourself a solid and shop elsewhere.

Pros

For a while, the cost was competitive.

Cons

The system required you to search out problems with claims as opposed to it notifying you of denied/rejected/not acted upon claims.

There are very limited options for patient statements, as well as reporting on deductibles, coinsurance and copay. Customer service has also not been as helpful in certain instances.

Collaborate is an easy to use software that is user friendly with many easy to navigate features. Many options on every reporting tab. Patient portal, demographics, financial and insurance information. This program also has auto updates that allows you to choose from the most updated icd10 codes and claim choices.

Cons

The customer service could use improvement. Collaborate requests that you contact customer support through a message center and sometimes with the busy work flow the instant assistance would be more beneficial. If you are working on a report for the practice and need immediate assistance, you have to place the task to the side until Collaborate contacts you via message or via a phone call. They do have a self help option that sometimes needs more assistance with a one on one customer service rep
