We have explored and demoed other systems, but decided to stay with ampEducator and invest more into it. Their team does try to work with us on our many requests and ideas. The system has improved over the years, and we are hoping to continue using it more fully. Pros ampEducator centralizes student information and allows multiple departments to access the same records, which helps with visibility and coordination. I like the customizable tags, custom fields, ID number generation, and other small details that make the system helpful. They are also building their LMS, which could eventually allow us to keep more functions in one system. They do try their best to provide solutions, but many changes or customizations come with an additional cost. Cons The biggest limitation is the user permissions and roles. Many offices need admin-level access to complete their work, but admin access gives visibility to the full system instead of only the specific areas they need. This makes it difficult to assign access in a more limited or department-specific way. There are also limitations with certain features and functionality. For example, we would like to implement self-registration, but the current system has limitations that prevent us from fully using it without an external solution or workaround. New features or custom requests often come with additional costs, even though those improvements may eventually benefit other customers as well. At times, it can feel like we are helping with product development while also paying for the improvements. That said, we do appreciate that they are trying to improve the system. We did have some issues with the reporting software early on, but those have since been resolved. ampEducator is user friendly and has simple to set up user portals. Pretty much anything you can think of can be achieved with our Custom Reports option in ampEducator when the built-in reporting tools don't do exactly what you want. Occasionally, (depending on how complicated the custom report queries are) we have to make database changes and that can break a custom report we have built for you in the past. We've taken steps to ensure that doesn't happen anymore by tracking custom reports better but anything is still possible so please let us know asap if you get an error status running any custom reports. As for Lates not always working I assume this is with a custom report and not the built-in attendance tools but I will email you directly and you can confirm what you are seeing so we can resolve it for you.
