Pros Easy to understand and use. The software is fairly well documented if a little contradictory in places. Cons Cannot track any of the statistics on social media. The back end is quite buggy. Some of the customization features do not work on Social Media or with embedding at all. They advertise on premium member videos. Right clicking beings up an link to their sales page. It's a great experience all round. Pros The simplicity and ease of use, coupled with powerful features under the surface if you need them. A few of the marketing features e.g. email gating are critical for us. Cons No particular downsides. There are a couple of features e.g. HubSpot integration that are only available on more expensive plans, but that's reasonable in B2B software. Review Source TL Tim L. Cons Pricing changes were unexpected, but understandable for a startup. Very occasionally videos uploaded do not transcode correctly which cause customer issues. December 11, 2018 5.0 Pros Wistia is super intuitive. You can upload your video and host it on whatever platform you are embedding it on within 20 minutes. You can add a call to action, stylistic edits, thumbnail etc. We use it to host our videos in our landing pages we build through our marketing automation software. It's integrations also work very well for us, including its integration with Hubspot. Pros I love its integration with our CRM, its turnstile forms, and its video customization options. It offers a complete marketing-ready interface and, I believe, promotes a better user experience than other solutions. Cons I wish I had some negative feedback here to make my review more balanced, but I really don't. August 2, 2019 5.0 Pros I LOVE that we are able to make emails look nice and professional by downloading the widget in gmail - it quickly pulls videos we have created and shows the opening slide/title vs. just having a link. Cons The only complaint I have is that the reporting was not always 100% accurate. There were often discrepancies between what was shown on their website and what would export into the excel sheet. Love the backend data we get about people watching our videos. Pros Gives our business the opportunity to host a large library of video that we can customize and embed on any site. Gives incredible back end stats and information on watches, engagements, and more. The videos are branded by our business only and we don't have to worry about irrelevant videos autoplaying after like we would with a YouTube. Cons Of course by using Wistia, you lose some of the SEO clout that comes along with using a YouTube but it depends on your business if that works or not. Review Source WL William L. So that's out. Out of the available alternatives, Wistia, Vimeo, and self-hosted video rank highest. Vimeo for Business and Wistia are comparable, but Wistia is cleaner, has a better user interface, and, most importantly, claims to do much better at SEO. So if the price tag isn't a problem, go with Wistia. If not, check out Vimeo for Business or Vimeo Pro. Cons It's rather expensive for small businesses. For people new to video, their newsletters are incredibly misleading. They love to post about how video doesn't have to be of a high quality, how you can use your webcam for things, etc. Some of their blog posts are great, but do please keep in mind that their business model is to get companies to upload as many videos as possible for any reason at all. It certainly makes your life easier as a video marketer. Pros As a HubSpot user, the integration between that package and Wistia has been a great for measuring the success of our video marketing. Essential tool for companies who's core marketing is through video. Simple to use. Nice interface. Cons Wistia is a little expensive when you consider the jump from free to Advanced. The Advanced is a huge increase from Pro but necessary to integrate with your marketing automation system. It's super easy to create playlists, and I love that you can customize the appearance of the videos and the playlists. It's easy to embed different sizes and styles - which makes my website look much cleaner. Cons My only complaint is about its integration with Hubspot, which requires Hubspot Enterprise in order to be fully effective. I can still embed easily and include videos in my emails, but can't trigger workflows based on video activity, which wasn't made clear prior to upgrading Wistia. So, not really a Wistia issue, but I wish they'd get on Hubspot to fix that! Pros I got this free on Appsumo back in 2014. I use it a little to create videos. My free plan allows 25 videos and I am happy with the tool Cons What's not to like... The ability to customize the look of the player is a huge plus too. Ultimately, the ability to gather leads via the Turnstile is what makes Wistia so great for us. We can feed leads directly into our CRM and follow-up with them as they are finishing up watching a video. Cons The biggest issue at this time is that it is not possible to collect the original lead source of a contact and pass it into your CRM. If you are running ads to drive traffic to your video you won't be able to tie leads back to your ads unless you create a specific landing page for every ad and add a different instance of the same video on each page. A free tool with upgraded features for paid users, Soapbox allows you to film your screen and yourself at the same time and then easily edit the video for use in product demos, proposal walk-throughs and more. Cons No major complaints here - Wistia has another great feature where you can order srt files for the captions on your video and these are always done within a day. Review Source
