There's quite a learning curve with the system, especially when it comes to getting the screen set up with a customized display. There's no 'undo' function, so if you make a change accidentally, it can take a while to figure out how to go back. Customer Service is impeccable, returning at least one (if not multiple) solutions to any problem I've run into so far. Pros LP does just about everything we need it to do, and is incredibly flexible and adaptable to different types of projects. Cons The reporting is a little cumbersome, with lots of different kinds of reports that all have different metrics associated with them. It could use a 'wizard' type tool to help design reports, or at least help you find the report type that will best suit your needs. Review Source JB Jonathan B. The thing is : I invested a lot of time just to understand it and you put the expensive price on top of that, at the end it costs me a lot more that it save in first 6 months. Pros I really like that you can do a lot to help with your project management and team management. All the informations is in one place (you need to create a structure that represent your company and your staff) and everybody can find what he wants. It's easy to do follow-ups with clients. The best thing is that you don't need a few platforms to see the time left, the budget and the tasks. Cons It took a lot of time to find LiquidPlanner easy to use and to find a structure that represent the company and our employees . The interface (or UX) is not simple. The price is a bit expensive if you have a small team. Liquid Planner isn't perfect, but it's one of the best out there. I like that it schedules my time for me. My main complaint is that you cannot assign clients to tasks like you can for projects. It is obviously optimized for companies that work on very large, involved projects, whereas, I do many short, discrete projects - like writing a NR or a newsletter. I set these up as tasks because it isn't worth the time to set up a project. Then, I have to nest them inside a project folder to assign them to a client. Frustrating Pros Excellent time tracking and scheduling features, bonuses like setting dependencies, and comprehensive analysis and reporting features. Cons Optimized for large, involved projects and as a result the Task designation isn't as helpful as it might be. Communication on a task or project becomes easy even when team members are not in the office at one time. Pros For people unfamiliar with any data or project tracking interfaces, the UI of LiquidPlanner has a very small learning curve. It is very easy to introduce new employees to it and have them working within it on the same day. Cons The checklists within each task would benefit from some further customization. On the whole it's a very helpful and robust work planning solution. It's actively updated and they listen to their customers. Pros \- Manage nearly every aspect of work planning - Decent interface - Tons of options to visualize data - Frequent updates - Great support If you want to plan your work, LiquidPlanner can accommodate almost any workflow Cons Because it has so many options, it can be overwhelming. The best thing you can do for yourself when using this software is to determine what works for you early on. There are many different ways to implement different workflows in LP so take the time to define yours. There are some UI quirks that are really difficult to get around. The "my work" tab should be much more customizable in my opinion. The UI itself takes some getting used to as well. August 14, 2018 5.0 We have tried various project management softwares and this one allowed us to customize the process in a way the others didn't allow. Packages to organize the different projects and task is very helpful. Being able to create custom tags or attributes on tasks has also been very valuable. Pros This software has completely changed the way we complete projects. It has added clarity and helped us determine where we need to focus to improve the process. Being able to create reports and dashboards to see the information more clearly is very helpful! This software is reliable and accessible anywhere you can log in to the site, which is also very useful for employees who work remotely. Cons I have very little to say about this software negatively. I would love to see more options for the dashboards to allow even more customization, but there is already a lot available. It can do more and it's easier to use. Pros Liquid Planner is intuitive and fairly easy to use. There are many poorly designed user interfaces out there, but LP is pretty good. It has a lot of capabilities. Best of all, it's far better than our previous solution. Cons I wish there was a document proofing system built into LP. We recently tried a document proofing system, but it proved to be poorly designed and difficult to understand, so we dropped it and went back to proofing with PDFs. It would be awesome if LP had this feature built in. Everything is included, you don't need to add plugins for the tool to be well-functioning (ref. Jira and Atlassian Marketplace). Being able to provide estimates in a range format (low-high) is a nice touch. Cons The lack of built-in integrations with common software providers. This is the main reason we left LiquidPlanner for Jira. Cons Baseline is either not an intuitive feature or not what I am looking for. Pros What I like about this software is how it has a lot of detailed features to help me keep track of the projects on the pipeline. Pros The tool is fairly easy to use with a lot of possibilities. It may have a lot more than we actually need, however, but I can see those that need a complete solution using this powerful tool. Cons Because this tool has a lot of features, I tend to use it as more of a timecard tool. Know what your needs are. Pros I love the ease of creating what I need at all levels. It is very simple to start a project, add an event or a task, assign or reassign tasks and even to add checklists within tasks. Cons The only thing I find a bit lacking is the notifications received when a group is assigned to a particular task or event. If you going to remoting or work in a bigger team, it will become more and more tedious. Pros When is used properly, can help managers to understand bottlenecks, work load and room for improvement in time management. Cons Painfully designed, becomes that every day task no one want to do, but they have to do. When you can track almost every breath you take, you spend just too much time doing it. Be organized costs lots of time, and the outcome is not always what you expect, since you will have to deal with the reality of projects, so all nice tools and projections end up being not really useful. I honestly was doing fine just using Excel spreadsheets before, but it has helped management see more of what is on everyone's plates. Pros LP is eminently flexible and encourages staff to think out the full life-cycle of a project. I appreciate custom fields and tags, estimated times, the ability to follow other people's projects, time-tracking, in-project messaging, the breakdown of projects-tasks-checklists, and more. Not to mention reports and dashboards. Cons Onboarding is a huge effort, and maintaining project management is somewhat time-intensive. Pros Great way to organize your projects if you are following from a true project management perspective in which various entities can't be done without the completion of another. A lot of features and customization to make it your own experience. Cons After filtering projects and such, you can't organize it the way you want to, such as in alphabetical order, numerical, or priority. The filters it contains eliminates items, and i like to see everything. We do a form of project management but not in the true textbook sense, as certain tasks and items do not stop us from completing something, everything can still keep moving. Having tried a number of other project planners, I don't know of anything else I'd rather use. Cons \- How much time did X number of (selected) tasks take to finish based on the time logged (start/end dates) as an average? Can I revise the estimate on all subsequent tasks based on that estimate automatically? - Too many lines in the UI. Needs a facelift. I've made a subdued version available here: https://userstyles.org/styles/163485/modern-ui - I desperately wish you could see more tasks at the same time. - You should be allowed to select hundreds of tasks at a time (not being limited to 50 would be great)! - I want to see a visual queue of tasks per employee spanning multiple projects as a timeline wherein each task is denoted as finishing on a specific day. - Stopwatch needs to always be accessible, and have multiple stopwatches visible per current tasks for the day in one (dockable) panel that persists (doesn't run away). - Icons are blurry. Pros This software allows the user to manage multiple projects and see the impacts, dependencies and conflicts among them. The prioritization, and ease to change priority, are key to knowing where projects are running into issue. Cons We are waiting for resource pools to be able to assign work to a specific group that has a limited number without assigning the work to a specific person. Also, the need to constantly refresh each area when a change is made adds to the time is takes when creating a schedule or working through issues in a schedule.
