" January 11, 2019 4.0 We moved to LiquidPlanner from Teamwork Projects after a few months of developers being overloaded with work due to lack of visibility for priorities and already assigned work. LiquidPlanner has allowed us to bring in more project managers and have more ongoing projects while keeping visibility of when we can tackle those projects in house or if we should bring in help or change our timelines. Pros The resource management options and "smart scheduling" options are great for project managers and developers who need a quick overview of priorities. Cons The interface is very dated (don't trust the nifty little animations on their website, this tool looks and feels old). However, it's still very useful. August 14, 2018 4.0 Pros I absolutely like the features Liquid Planner offers. Mainly the fact that it keeps work well organized and there can always be a trace on a status of a project. It accepts different file formats to be uploaded and the card view timeline view is amazing. Cons Overall, it is a little difficult to use to be honest. Although there is a lot of features which is a good thing, it does take quite some time to get the hang of LP and know how to use it properly. We can see if there is a project at high risk of running over time / cost and use that to adjust and learn. Since tasks can be easily grouped into projects, we can assign each task to individuals / teams, and each overall project to higher managers that are responsible. Pros API - can use our ticketing system to create LP tasks Kanban boards - can track progress on tasks Planning - can assign time estimates, and then track actual time for each task Dependencies - can link related tasks Bookmarks - if you apply a bunch of filters and come up with a view that you really like - say, "open tasks, which are assigned to me, and at risk of running over time" - you can make one-click shortcut to that view. Cons UI really packs A LOT into one screen. It takes a little while to learn your way around the interface, but they do have decent documentation and help along the way to get you familiar. Cons Some overviews have grown beyond usefulness. Like the task overview, which contains 7 subsections (People, Planning, Checklist, Comments, Notes, Documents, Links) . With several project managers sharing resources, it is vital to have visibility into resource availability and potential schedule conflicts. Because of the extremely long duration of our projects (with heavy work in the beginning, then intermittently for months to years afterwards), it took us some time to develop a workflow that would allow for prioritization of individual tasks rather than projects as a whole. But we've come a long way from using stand alone MS project files! Time tracking directly on the task has also been very beneficial for more accurate tracking and billing of work. There is definitely a learning curve and adoption takes some time. Pros From gantt charts to time estimates, this tool was a lifesaver when we found ourselves falling short on task tracking and project tracking. management. Estimating tasks with ranges (like 3-6 hours) instead of a single number makes a huge difference and the plethora of organization features make complex projects less tedious to look at. Tracking employee capacity, schedules, and their deliverables has been particularly helpful, especially when you have multiple projects going on at the same time. Cons There is a glaring lack of third-party integrations and the interface can be overwhelming if you're used to simpler tools. Would also be nice to link to specific tasks. I've used several other project/team management solutions and this one has every necessary feature and does it well. We not only manage work, but also resources like staff availability which makes this a huge plus. Pros Liquidplanner is complex but once you take time to learn it, you will never regret using it. It is well resourced and has great functionality. It stands out from the rest with its rich tracking features as well as resource management capabilities. It has Drag-and-drop functionality which makes it simple to use.It is a responsice application that you cannot go wrong with as a large organisation. Cons The software doe not come cheap however it is well worth it for what it can do for you. Do not expect to plug and play. You will need to learn it before you start seeing the full advantages of this application. December 9, 2019 4.0 It solved one of the biggest problems for us, managing over 90 projects at once with a small team of ~5 people. To allow our team to manage task, provide updates and work from there. It reduced management time as well. Pros The solution is great. It can handle hundreds of task and keep everything organized and ordered. The ability to have unique views per team member is also great. Schedule is powerful and is always up to date. You can also have virtual members which are not "seats" and is perfect for clients. It also have a very powerful API Cons The interface looks from the 90s. The mobile app is pointless. Its been a great piece of software that has proved invaluable to our business. Pros Easy tracking of hours on a project Can associate pictures with parts in the notes section Customizable dashboards Ability to share dashboards with customers Cons I would like the ability to sort by activity. There may be an easy way to do it, but I'm not sure that that is. often I'll see an activity show up on a report that I don't recognize and I'd like to quickly see who logged their time using this activity. LP enables us to analyse staff performance, billable hours logged against a task, project or client and apportion resources accordingly. It's central to our business and also means we can provide transparency and accuracy to clients when reporting on what work we have done for them. Our staff find it helps them to manage their workload, collaborate and understand dependencies easily. It takes a little time for new starters to get used to clicking the button to time everything they do, but the benefits are enormous for us as an agency. I'm sure it does more than I am even aware of, as I try to stay away from LP as much as possible. Pros It tracks my time, breaking it down into individual projects and tasks per project, thus I get paid. Cons Everything else, especially the UI. The tool has worked out very well with my project manager and the people who are executing the projects. Pros The tool is easy to ease into and doesn't require you to use all the features to use. Once comfortable with the basics, adding additional features into your projects in simple and intuitive. Cons There isn't a good way to separate business units within one instance of the tool.
