We are using LiquidPlanner (LP) in almost every project. Besides tracking and reporting progress inside, one of the best things is to keep our clients updated regarding their projects in real time. Such transparency has huge benefit to both side, the clients and the development team. For clients, they may gain confidence from the project progress at any time. Especially, many of them are start-ups. They relies on the project to develop their business and talk further with the potential investors. The real time update helps to plan their future in a more accurate way. For the team, LP is used to get real time feedback from clients. Any blocks may be identified and solved in time. And we know what we did is what the clients need and does bring business value to them. In general, with LP, all the parties around the project get the transparency and are given the great confidence of the success.

Though it may seem limiting in terms of things you can do initially, the deeper you get into the program the deeper you can see things to do much like any program similar to Microsoft excel

Pros

Customizable fields allow specific data tracking both internal and external use. We track a couple thousand projects a year through multi staged gates.

Cons

It takes a while to set up correctly, but once Completed it is very reliable. The user interface is acceptable, mostly intuitive but does require some reading/training

I am the principal of a medium sized engineering design consultancy, working mostly in the construction and design worlds. We work on some very challenging and innovative projects, where team work and complexity are everyday issues. We had struggled for many years trying to manage our design work with spreadsheets, project management software, time sheets, etc and so on. We always started off with a great plan, but then found it impossible to keep that plan up to date as projects progressed, and then ended up making do. When we found Liquid Planner we were intrigued by the on-line accessibility and by it allowing multiple simultaneous users; everything could be centralised off site, and could be accessed out of hours from anywhere. We took the plunge in January 2014 and switched everyone over to Liquid Planner overnight. We developed a simple easy to use system for organising all of our projects in one single space, and it worked straightaway. We developed packages for each person, what we call Now Boxes, in which they shuffle their own priorities whenever they want. We incorporate dependencies to tasks, and so warnings pop up when staff move things that adversely affect task sequences. Time sheets are entered accurately in real time, and everything worked well from the off. We then moved on to another level and, with some simple customising of the fields relating to tasks, we used Liquid Planner to re-invent our quality assurance system. As structural engineers checking and quality is an essential part of our work, and with some simple tweaks Liquid Planner become our quality assurance system, and has been approved as such by our British Standard Institution ISO 9001 inspectors. In fact they were amazed at how easy and immediate our system was. Clicking and dragging on the gant chart would be nice. Also the space devoted to obscure things like date shift windows would be better spent on making diary views more accessible. We love it and are always singing its praises; it is like a member of our team.

I have used LiquidPlanner for managing R&D labs, New Product Development programs, and smaller project management efforts. It is easy to train others on and is great for tracking project progress and actual effort.

Pros

Liquid Planner provides a real-to-life approach to project management. I love the way that they use a 3-point estimate for likely remaining effort for each task. This rolls up into a very useful, and dynamic estimate of project completion.

Cons

Though there are work-arounds, it is sometimes frustrating that task dependencies are tedious to enter.

Better than more applications I have used to track tasks.

Pros

It is very easy to control developer tasks and view their total hours each week.

Cons

Some of the Drop Downs (with minimal options) take a while to load. I also sometimes have to hunt around to see what it throwing the time estimates way off for a project. It is not always obvious. I also find it difficult to find the notes the developers include with their recorded hours and these hours are not specific or assigned to a project or tests when I review the timesheets.

Pros

The major reasons for us switching to this software was that we needed help in seeing the demands of our product development team. The major pro we discovered was that it allowed us to set and change the priorities while understanding the impact on other projects.

Cons

We were hoping to use this to help us resource plan. As it stands, it is great for scheduling and planning but great at allocating different resources on any given day.

A valuable tool to allow us to see the full breadth of ongoing projects and their inter-relation/dependencies

Pros

LP allows us to keep detailed project level tasks and plans to ensure efficient execution of our projects. The ability to immediately see the impact of any reassignement / replanning on both the specific project and across all corporate in-flight projects, helps us make timely decisions that improve productivity and workflow.

Cons

LP is a forward looking tool, getting past / historical data is not easily supported.

LiquidPlanner is a very complete software for managing projects, time spent, people, clients and analyzing the overall performance of your company. It has a lot of different functionalities. You'll probably never use all of them, since the system is so complete it has different features for different needs of all kinds of companies. We work with advertising and LP is invaluable in our day to day life. Customer support is rarely needed, but when it is, they are fast, polite and helpful. Having compared LP to other project management software, I can say I've never found one that adapts itself to our needs as much as this one.

Pros

Very large feature set, great support.

Cons

It's almost perfect, but there are some features I do miss and since it's so complete, sometimes it can be difficult to learn how to use a tool for the first time.

Liquid Planner has been a tremendous help with our scheduling issues. It allows everyonre to see notes and tasks in one spot. It allows for easy documentation and provides great organization.

Pros

I like that Liquid Planner is available from anywhere. I can easily access it while I'm traveling or just working out of the office.

Cons

I least like that our clients don't have access. It would be great if the client could see some of the documents and comments our designers make instead of havin g to recopy and email them.

We use LiquidPlanner for all employees to organize "direct charge" and overhead tasks. The estimating and prioritization approach is different from traditional project scheduling and captures real-time dynamics as you work. The program has helped us manage large task sets, discover organizational issues more quickly, and we have yet to tap into the more advanced features.

Pros

Real-time updating and estimating capabilities. Easy-to-use GUI. Timer application. Facilitates team communication within the tool such as attaching files, adding comments, and creating notes. Ability to deep-dive into detailed information and metrics. Timesheet integrated with tasks and charge codes. Prioritization-based tasking saves us time from having to create dependency links between most tasks (you can still do that if you want to).

Cons

Discipline required to include unplanned interuption-type tasks, which will push out your "planned" estimations. Charges by the user, so make sure all users are committed to using the tool.

Pros

Cons

Liquid Planner can sometimes be a bit glitchy. BUT, their customer support is always quick to check out the problems.

I have a hard time inputting my time to accurately track my time, but I feel like it does a great job to assign tasks and make sure they get completed.

Pros

Ease of timetracking, closing out tasks, assigning tasks. I haven't created an entire folder yet, but making tasks within the folder is easy.

Cons

Time Sheet page, sometimes doesn't bring things to the next page without pinning it. Or if you're tracking time for previous weeks you have to go searching for a task.

I use LiquidPlanner for more than two years and I'm happy with that. It helped me to estimate how much time do I need for every task due to I'm performing very different kinds of tasks each requiring different amount of time. Than it's easier to estimate time needed for tasks similar to those done before. It also helps a lot to track time worked for different projects and quicly fill timesheets at the end of month.

Pros: 1. As a service provider, I find it incredibly useful to manage all client projects and tasks through a single system. Invoicing my clients, which used to take 8 to 10 hours every month, now takes half an hour. The time tracking at each task is fantastic, as is the ability to have different billing rates for different customers. We integrated the downloadable timesheet CSV file into a database to assign our own invoice numbers and produce consolidated reports. 2. Our team is geographically dispersed, with members in different time zones and working different schedules. We use LP to collaborate on tasks, capture notes, and track documents. We've recently started to use Google Docs more than Microsoft Office documents, which we link through each task's "Links" section. We've found this to be a great extension to LP. At the same time, we still often upload documents, especially for version management and published documents. Cons: We manage a lot of tasks across a small team. The more tasks we have, the more difficult it is becoming to stay on top of them. The search feature has improved dramatically over the past few months. So that has helped a lot. But, we still find ourselves on occasion creating duplicate tasks, because the original isn't immediately apparent. The single sheet approach to a task has it's own pros and cons. But in my opinion, having separate tabs for "Task", "Planning", "Notes", etc would be a better approach. It would be even better to have flexibility to add custom tabs, so each task could have multiple note fields on their own tabs. I would use this to have a tab for Contacts, for example, and another for general notes. Ideally, this could be set up as a template, so that every task I create would automatically have the tabs I want. Managing task dependencies is cumbersome. Export tasks to PDF is cumbersome (or maybe I don't know how to use it right).

Since we use LiquidPlanner, it became much easier to see the time worked on each project and improve our evaluation method.

Pros

Once you understand each field, very easy to use. Great way to organize projects and tasks.

Cons

For projects with a big number of tasks and many employees working on a same task, the calendar that is built automatically is not on point. Each single task needs to have a deadline date; not possible to build the calendar only with the projetc or sub-folder deadline.

My issues with the software were more how we used it, than with the software itself.

Pros

There seemed to be endless ways to use this software. It allowed us to break down jobs into every individual task so that we could see the progress of the work. It was also beneficial to be able to show clients exactly what we were working on and how long it took.

Cons

It is incredibly comprehensive which means it can be overwhelming to learn, especially if you aren't given proper training. It is not an intuitive program and you should have one legit expert on your team to funnel questions through.

We have been using Liquid Planner for nearly 5 years and have really put it through its paces as we load it up with large projects consisting of hundreds of tasks. We now consider it to be an indispensable tool for managing our projects. It is very reliable, fast and offers extreme flexibility in managing our often changing priorities.

Pros

Ease of use. Performance (it never crashes or hangs)

Cons

It would be nice to have a bit more flexibility in reporting that does not always necessitate exporting to Excel.
