November 12, 2020 5.0 Pros I love Smartvault, I've used it now for 3 years to track bookkeeping, payroll, taxes and tax planning. It works great for me, check out the new view they just added. We love that it is cloudbased and that we can access this where ever we are, especially with COVID-19 restrictions in place. Because of this product, when our office needed to immediately work from home, we did not flinch. Cons It can take a bit to load certain aspects of this software. November 12, 2020 5.0 Pros SmartVault makes it very easy to store a cloud version of the tax return, along with supporting documentation, and share with client as need in a secure setting. CPA Accounting Used the software for: 2+ years ### "You Don't Get What You Pay For" June 23, 2022 1.0 I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your storage and file sharing needs. This company prices its service like they are the cream of the crop, but in reality they are the bottom of the barrel. The price for my plan nearly tripled this year with zero new features or services being added that are actually useful. There is no Android app available, which is ridiculous considering the extreme pricing. And be careful, the company will auto renew your plan for 12 months and there is no means to cancel for a refund once they charge your credit card. And they will still auto renew after completely altering the terms of the contract. Shady company for sure. Pros Really nothing to like. Cons Load times to find clients and pull up documents. Pros I am very pleased at the ease of which this integrates with my Accounts software making keeping clients documentation safe and provides clients the ability to securley send paperwork to me. It did take me a hour or so to get my head around setting everything up but \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] my Customer Success Manager has been brilliant in assisting me and answering all my questions. So far this has stremlined alot of processes and removed the need for lots of printing! Cons It would be nice to be able to set up a client in the desktop module as well as the online portal. Reason for choosing SmartVault it was offered as part of my taxcalc subscription. I had looked at others in the past but they would not integrate with software so felt it would add to my workload not make my life easier. It has been a wonderful tool to share information with our clients during these difficult times. Most clients find it easy to upload their documents. No more worry of their information getting lost in the mail. Cons Still learning some of the features, not sure if it is Smart Vault or because we just don't have the time to dig into learning the program completely. Review Source JF Jessica F. Owner Used the software for: ### "I really wanted to like it but it wasn't for me" April 14, 2018 4.0 I didn't get much out of it, it has great potential and perhaps when they introduce an option to embed a file upload on my website that doesn't require login I would definitely consider signing up again because it's not worth it if my clients don't want to use it. Pros Lots of great features, a generous amount of secure storage, unlimited clients, custom branding, good support. Cons Not user-friendly to learn, I usually figure things out clicking around but had to rely a lot on tutorials and support documents to find my way around. It's expensive for a small practice but I can't see how it's very well worth it to a medium or large practice. My clients did not like having to log in to share files with me so as much as I wanted to like it I switched to a solution that allowed my clients to upload securely without having to keep track of yet another username and password. You can send custom messages with the file notifications which is a nice little touch. Many integrations for email/accounting software and features for storing, transferring, signing and more functionality. Cons Mac users are left out in the cold. The pricing is rather high if you only need the portal system itself and no additional features. The space allotment is rather small compared to some other options. No ability to transfer/shift into a different type of filing system within the SmartVault family of products--you have to start from scratch. Review Source MK Megan K. With SmartVault, we all have access to photos, videos and document, and I can always be sure I'm using the most updated material. It is easy to file, upload and take information I need without having to store it locally on my system. This ensures I have the most updated information and I'm not using memory for something I don't need to store. Pros The system is easy for the team to store and share documents. The sign-in is quick and secure, uploads or downloads are fast, and it keeps everyone "on the same page," even when working remotely. Cons It doesn't work well as a "z" drive, so I tend to use it "in the cloud." I've never been able to sort it out, so I just found a workaround. Review Source LW Lyndsay W. November 16, 2020 5.0 I am very happy to SmartVault for security and ease of use for myself and my clients and price. Pros SmartVault has many features that most businesses can use totally free! SmartVault was instrumental in helping me provide the infastructure to get my business up and running by giving my clients piece of mind that their files would be safely stored with me. SmartVault has given my clients and I a secure way to share information which is easy to use. Cons I wish there were more integrations. I often have to download a file onto my computer and then upload it to SmartVault to share it with my clients. I wish I could capture the document straight into SmartVault.
