Simple, easy to use, code-only interface that allows a greater customisation to cater for individual systems that we interface with.

Lack of in-built Lua functions, hence we have to write our own custom functions or rely on the support team

Iguana is an easy to use program that really meets our HL7 needs. The log system within Iguana makes it easy for us to resolve most issues when testing an interface. The support is also exceptional which is critical in this healthcare space.

Pros

I like the UI and the log system they have in place. It help me with my efficiency in diagnosing errors an HL7 message. The support is also important to mention because their team is very responsive and quick to assist.

Cons

I had issues with how it handles SFTP connectivity and the error log not being to clear, but that has been resolved in recent updates.

Many of things that were unacceptable in the Iguana 6 have been fixed in Iguana X : lack of GIT proper integration and awfully slow logging system. Especially under heavy load. According to the creators of the Iguana the lua language was chosen as the one which does not have to be updated a lot over long time. Instead they offer updating Iguana. Well done.

Pros

Fast pace of writing integration business logic. You can skip all of the programming good practices and make the sales team happy to meet the dates they offered to the customers.

Cons

lua language - it is too niche. Overwritting os.time() is not nice. lua language - it is too niche. Overwritting os.time() is not nice.

The Logs UI & UX was way better under version 6.1. The latest version does not easily show all messages and does not allow easy re submission.

We have been extremely pleased with the product, the performance, and the support. We are on Iguana 6.2, but are interested in moving to Iguana X.

Pros

The support we get. While we may have problems figuring things out with Lua, we can always contact support and get the help we need. Thanks again.

Cons

Lua, but that is just because I have no history in it. Syntax is one thing. Knowing what you need to look for to accomplish a task is another.

Switched from

This was actually Oracle Health Sciences Integration Engine, which was just a re-branding of Rhapsody sold at one point by Oracle. Rhapsody was too expensive and when Oracle stopped support, we had no choice but to find an alternative. Iguana was slightly cheaper than Mirth.

Overall I have had a good experience. The product is stable and handles my customer needs quite well. I think that moving to IguanaX will make thing even better. Treating shared lua files as Libraries makes sense however how to do it is somewhat awkward. I.e. building it in one component, then making it a library and setting up a new repository, etc. Providing a separate "Library" component would make more sense.

Pros

IguanaX looks much better than version 6. I am liking it a lot

Cons

I really dislike the old &.vmd and dependence upon Chameleon. Too complex and not user friendly. IguanaX is a much better approach.

All interactions have been positive. I've never worked with a product that delivers as intended and is stable right out of the box

Pros

Extremely easy to use, feature rich, and never errors. It is fantastic to basically click Start and everything just goes

Cons

It would be nice to have the popular/common connection properties and drivers to be part of the Settings page. Each system is different, but having folders for each Linux system base and selecting the connection method and enter the properties to support the connection would be much easier than managing them externaly

Favorable. I still consider myself a LUA/Iguana beginner even after 18 months of writing interfaces in LUA because there is much to learn but each experience gives me more knowledge.

Pros

What I like best is that its not as clunky as cloverleaf :D Im from a programming background so I enjoy the LUA scripting.

Cons

It would be nice to have more examples of codes in Help. There are examples out there but not examples I tend to need.
