### "Wish I had switched from Wix years ago"

May 14, 2026

5.0

My experience has been extremely positive. I switched from Wix and immediately noticed improvements in site performance, overall usability, and the ability to grow a business. Shopify feels like a platform designed around serious eCommerce rather than trying to be a general website builder that also happens to sell products. The ecosystem is strong, the checkout process feels polished, and it gives businesses room to scale without feeling limited. The migration took effort, but looking back I wish I had switched sooner.

Pros

Shopify feels purpose-built for eCommerce. After switching from Wix, the difference in overall performance, flexibility, and ecosystem became obvious very quickly. The platform is easier to scale, the app integrations are strong, checkout feels polished, and there are far more tools available for growing a business. Customization options are excellent, and there is a large community and support network around the platform.

Cons

There can be a learning curve when first moving over, especially when dealing with themes, apps, and advanced customization. Costs can also increase as you add apps and additional features. Some functions that feel like they should be built-in sometimes require outside apps.

We outgrew Wix fast and it was painfully apparent that Wix just isn't meant for companies doing over 6 figure revenue.

### "he Most Reliable and User-Friendly E-commerce Platform on the Market"

April 7, 2026

5.0

My overall experience has been very positive. Shopify is a "one-stop-shop" that takes the technical headache out of running an online store. It handles payment options and security seamlessly, allowing me to focus more on marketing and products rather than server maintenance. It’s a reliable, scalable solution that grows with your business, despite the slightly higher price point for premium features.

Pros

The ease of use is definitely the standout feature. Website creation is intuitive thanks to the drag-and-drop editor, making it accessible even if you don't have a coding background. I also really appreciate the 24/7 chat and call support; they are usually very quick to resolve technical hiccups. The platform is incredibly stable, and the vast app ecosystem allows you to add almost any functionality you need as you scale.

Cons

While the platform is powerful, the value for money can get a bit complicated. Monthly costs can add up quickly once you start adding paid apps and premium themes. I also find the payment structure a bit restrictive; if you don't use Shopify Payments, you’re hit with additional transaction fees, which can eat into the margins of a small business.

Alternatives considered

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)

Reason for choosing Shopify

I chose Shopify over Wix primarily for its scalability and its massive App Store. As my business grows, I want to be able to add advanced features like loyalty programs, complex SEO tools, and specialized marketing integrations that Shopify handles seamlessly. The ability to handle high traffic spikes during sales and the sheer variety of professional themes made it the better long-term choice for my brand

### "The Game of Shopping: Shopify And How E-Commerce Can Improve"

April 6, 2026

3.0

Overall, the experience with Shopify has been just OK, but trending more negatively the more I used it, and felt that ultimately it wasn't right for me both as a consumer and a user due to the cons, especially price, outweighing the pros. There was also little customer support and long queues.

Pros

I enjoyed the easy user interface, combined marketplace selling feature such as via social media, through third party apps, or even in person/point of sale, as well as the high performance levels of the app and its affiliates.

Cons

However, what I disliked about Shopify is the charges, fees, limited usage with other apps, and the "gamey" nature of the app, in that it sometimes feels more like a reward system than an ecosystem.

### "A lot to learn but a lot to give."

February 13, 2026

4.0

It has allowed our website to be more than it once was and because of that we have seen increased sales through switching platforms.

Pros

It is something we use everyday. It hosts our website as well as allows customers to place orders through it. They pay for their order through it either via paypal or debit/ credit card. We use outside IT support to help run the website. It is more complicated to learn the back end of the website than our past website host but it has allowed us more functionality at the front end, which was our goal in switching.

Cons

It has a lot to learn when you switch over to it. We have had to purchase/ pay for add on's to get the functionality we need. Having said that we couldn't have got the functionality with our previous website host.

### "Easy to set-up but requires additional time and knowledge for professional functionality"

April 19, 2026

4.0

Although I was able to set up a store quite quickly, I spent quite a lot of time trying to make the store function in the way that I needed. However, there are fewer issues and more functionality with 2.0 themes. I have yet to switch to the latest block-based themes and hope to maintain a stable 2.0 for a bit longer.

Pros

I was able to quickly create a professional e-commerce store with a free template, and there are many options for customization. Shopify continues to add functionality.

Cons

Shopify relies heavily on paid apps for functionality. Stacking subscriptions for what could be considered basic functionality can be expensive. Also, this requires additional time to research; the apps can slow down the site and conflict with each other.

### "Overall a good value"

March 31, 2026

4.0

For starter e-commerce sites and businesses this is a great affordable option, and allows a fast start up.

Pros

The value is certainly there. It is easy to add products and list different option for items. The set up is very easy to receive payments and take orders.

Cons

I found any customization to be more difficult. Trying to set up categories was a challenge. There is also a delay in receiving payments.

### "Great platform for simple and medium complexity shops"

April 4, 2026

4.0

Overall if we list out pros and cons, pros outweigh cons. However the cons will be constant pain in the neck that will be impossible to solve. Example complex checout rules have rely on multiple external apps and are very difficult to manage and maintain.

Pros

Shopify takes care of many things for you such as hosting, platform and payments and wallets. Shopify offers an extensive variety of apps to help you extend its functionality

Cons

You are bound by shopify’s rules and it can be extremely difficult to ad bespoke functionality. And impossible to do that on the checkout process. Misconfigured product will be abused by bad actors using specialised tools for shopify and you will loose money if you fail to catch these orders. If you list on shop app it will overtake your checkout to scrape your customers.

### "A game-changing platform for E-commerce business owners"

April 16, 2026

5.0

My journey to an e-commerce world started with Shopify, and I can't thank this platform enough. 6 years ago when I was looking to start a dropshipping business, that's when I came across Shopify. I used this product to design and publish my first dropshipping website in no time. Honestly, I had very little knowledge about websites that time, however I was still able to design a decent looking professional website and launch my dropshipping business. Isn't that fun?

Pros

What I love most about Shopify is how easy to use and beginners friendly the platform is. You could pretty much launch your e-commerce website solely with Shopify without having to worry about any other platforms from getting a domain name and hosting space, to securing the website with SSL, everything in one place. Moreover, the cost for hosting your site is very minimal if you compare it with other competitors.

Cons

So far till day, I have no complaints about Shopify. It did fulfil all my needs and requirements with ease during my first E-commerce website launch back in 2019.

Pros

Recently implemented Shopify for our D2C sales integrated with Netsuite and 6 3PLs. Very easy to use.

Cons

### "Strong platform"

May 4, 2026

3.0

Overall, Shopify is a capable platform with strong features, but my experience was impacted by billing confusion and a less-than-ideal support experience. While it works well from a functionality standpoint, I would be more confident recommending it if there were improvements in billing clarity and customer support responsiveness.

Pros

Shopify is easy to set up and use, even without a technical background. The interface is clean, and the platform offers a wide range of integrations and tools that make it simple to get a store up and running quickly.

Cons

Greater transparency around billing and clearer communication would go a long way. Felt a little bit confusing initially.

### "E-Commerce Near Perfect"

December 17, 2025

5.0

Shopify allowed us to quickly get a merchandise business off the ground and raise money for our nonprofit without a substantial cash outlay, all while being a relatively simple to use platform with good support.

Pros

As the leading platform in e-commerce, there was a ton of really accessible support and easy to set up systems. We used it primarily for on demand merch but it created a very simple web page and had widely accessible payment options. The ability to take payment via tap on the device is also very impressive and useful for pop-ups or mobile sales.

Cons

Sometimes the integrations with third-party partners were a little bit difficult to manage, and it was somewhat limiting in terms of matching the branding of our other media without expensive outside developers.

### "Shopify Review for Developers"

March 3, 2026

5.0

My experience with Shopify has been mostly positive. I have developed two e-commerce websites and have also provided support for another e-commerce site built on Shopify, and the software is pleasant. The only downside as a developer is that Shopify, not being open source, does not allow certain adjustments or customizations unless it is with authorization or direct support from Shopify. Another strong point is the payment options and Shopify Payments; it is usually very convenient due to having simple rates that can have benefits if contracted annually and paid monthly.

Pros

Scalability and hosting management offer speed and consistency as the business grows. The website adapts to continue processing all data and the front end for users in the best possible way.

Cons

The prices in relation to functionality can be somewhat extensive compared to other CMS software on the market, but once you start working on the platform, how intuitive and easy it is makes it possible to pay for the service.

February 22, 2026

Overall, my experience with Shopify has been very positive. The platform is reliable, easy to navigate, and well-suited for launching and scaling an online store. It offers strong design options and secure payment processing.

Pros

How intuitive and user-friendly the platform is. It allows you to launch and manage an online store quickly without needing advanced technical skills.

Cons

One of the downsides of Shopify is that costs can increase quickly as you add apps, premium themes, or advanced features. While the base platform is strong, many essential customizations require paid integrations

### "no wonder most ecommerce runs on shopify"

September 20, 2025

5.0

i've been impressed by how capable shopify has been for someone with little to no web development or programming skills. like any SAAS worth it's value, some features you want are hidden behind paywalls, but it is flexible enough that there is almost always a way around it if you are creative, or it is inexpensive via 3rd party apps

Pros

shopify has been very easy for me to stand up a web store on short notice. i have a modicum of coding experience, but documentation is widely available and has allowed me to unlock a TON of value from the package we signed up for

Cons

there are some shortfalls of the API when it comes to managing inventory- the API only updates when available qty changes, not when reserved or committed qty changes. it is also difficult to split and combine orders

### "Easy to set up and convenient for tracking orders."

March 16, 2026

4.0

Overall, it works well. It offers extensive integration capabilities across various areas, and the integration with BC, in particular, makes ERP management much more convenient for us.

Pros

The product sales and integrated inventory management system is extremely powerful, offering comprehensive support for product management, inventory management, warehouse management, discount systems, user management, and more.

Cons

We rely heavily on this platform for promoting and selling our products. As a result, it makes managing our inventory and controlling discounts and promotions very convenient. However, the subscription fees and commission rates are somewhat high, which significantly increases the cost of goods; merchants must pay both the subscription fee and a commission on product sales.

### "Shopify Has Been Amazing"

February 19, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with Shopify has been positive. As someone who has little to no code experience, I was able to set up my shop all by myself and configure all the integrations. I've used several other e-commerce platforms and cannot say the same about their ease of use.

Pros

Shopify is one of the easiest shop platforms I've used. Setup was very simple and they offer integrations with all of my marketing stack.

Cons

Shopify fees are probably one of my only complaints, although you pay for what you get. The only other "con" I would say is that it seems they are moving away from real-life agents and starting to use AI chatbots for inquiries, which can be frustrating at times.

### "A Seamless Platform for Building and Growing an Online Store"

June 16, 2025

4.0

In general, I have had a highly favorable experience with Shopify. It’s an effective, easy-to-use platform that simplified the process of launching and overseeing my online store—even for someone with no technical experience. The design is straightforward, the customer support is quick to respond, and the variety of apps and themes provided me with the adaptability to expand my store as I developed. That being said, the additional expenses for specific features can be a disadvantage, particularly for small enterprises. Nevertheless, for the reliability and convenience it provides, I considered it to be a valuable investment

Pros

Shopify's user-friendly design enabled me, a beginner, to create an attractive online store quickly, utilizing customizable themes, app integrations, and reliable hosting for efficient e-commerce operations.

Cons

What I liked least about Shopify was the additional costs that add up quickly. While the main subscription is reasonably priced, many essential features like advanced analytics, particular applications, and connections with external services require extra fees. Some themes also necessitate a fee, and transaction charges will apply unless you use Shopify Payments. It may appear a bit limiting or expensive for small enterprises or startups looking to reduce costs

After my trial, I decided against using Shopify. The products my business offers is in a very small niche, and I rely heavily on SEO to draw in customers. Shopify couldn't provide this, and was also too expensive for me

Pros

Shopify is a user-friendly platform that makes it easy to set up a shop and sell online. The site functions well, even on mobile.

Cons

The SEO for Shopify is almost non-existent, you will need to heavily market your shop on your own to bring in traffic.
