My experience with Shopify has been mostly positive. I have developed two e-commerce websites and have also provided support for another e-commerce site built on Shopify, and the software is pleasant. The only downside as a developer is that Shopify, not being open source, does not allow certain adjustments or customizations unless it is with authorization or direct support from Shopify. Another strong point is the payment options and Shopify Payments; it is usually very convenient due to having simple rates that can have benefits if contracted annually and paid monthly.

Pros

Scalability and hosting management offer speed and consistency as the business grows. The website adapts to continue processing all data and the front end for users in the best possible way.

Cons

The prices in relation to functionality can be somewhat extensive compared to other CMS software on the market, but once you start working on the platform, how intuitive and easy it is makes it possible to pay for the service.

My overall experience has been very positive. Shopify is a "one-stop-shop" that takes the technical headache out of running an online store. It handles payment options and security seamlessly, allowing me to focus more on marketing and products rather than server maintenance. It’s a reliable, scalable solution that grows with your business, despite the slightly higher price point for premium features.

Pros

The ease of use is definitely the standout feature. Website creation is intuitive thanks to the drag-and-drop editor, making it accessible even if you don't have a coding background. I also really appreciate the 24/7 chat and call support; they are usually very quick to resolve technical hiccups. The platform is incredibly stable, and the vast app ecosystem allows you to add almost any functionality you need as you scale.

Cons

While the platform is powerful, the value for money can get a bit complicated. Monthly costs can add up quickly once you start adding paid apps and premium themes. Overall, the experience with Shopify has been just OK, but trending more negatively the more I used it, and felt that ultimately it wasn't right for me both as a consumer and a user due to the cons, especially price, outweighing the pros. There was also little customer support and long queues.

Pros

I enjoyed the easy user interface, combined marketplace selling feature such as via social media, through third party apps, or even in person/point of sale, as well as the high performance levels of the app and its affiliates.

Cons

However, what I disliked about Shopify is the charges, fees, limited usage with other apps, and the "gamey" nature of the app, in that it sometimes feels more like a reward system than an ecosystem.

We have used magento ,volusion and cube cart. After switching to shopify I can say confidently that it is the best platform to build a site on. Building a website and combining all the apps and functionality can be very daunting. On shopify - everything is right in front of you, and presented in a way that is very much like the apple app store. You can really do everything yourself with little training or help.

Pros

one stop shop for hosting an ecommerce store. Everything packaged into one price, with varying levels of support available from Shopify. Instead of having hosting somewhere, POS somewhere else and website on a different platform - this allows us complete peace of mind.

Cons

Would be nice if there was a service level between my plan and the shopify plus plan. We definitely have identified features within the Shopify Plus plan that we would like to use but the total price tag doesnt make sense for us.

Pros

The value is certainly there. It is easy to add products and list different option for items. The set up is very easy to receive payments and take orders.

Cons

I found any customization to be more difficult. Trying to set up categories was a challenge. There is also a delay in receiving payments.

Overall if we list out pros and cons, pros outweigh cons. However the cons will be constant pain in the neck that will be impossible to solve. Example complex checout rules have rely on multiple external apps and are very difficult to manage and maintain.

Pros

Shopify takes care of many things for you such as hosting, platform and payments and wallets. Shopify offers an extensive variety of apps to help you extend its functionality

Cons

You are bound by shopify’s rules and it can be extremely difficult to ad bespoke functionality. And impossible to do that on the checkout process. Misconfigured product will be abused by bad actors using specialised tools for shopify and you will loose money if you fail to catch these orders. If you list on shop app it will overtake your checkout to scrape your customers.

My journey to an e-commerce world started with Shopify, and I can't thank this platform enough. 6 years ago when I was looking to start a dropshipping business, that's when I came across Shopify. I used this product to design and publish my first dropshipping website in no time. Honestly, I had very little knowledge about websites that time, however I was still able to design a decent looking professional website and launch my dropshipping business. Isn't that fun?

Pros

What I love most about Shopify is how easy to use and beginners friendly the platform is. You could pretty much launch your e-commerce website solely with Shopify without having to worry about any other platforms from getting a domain name and hosting space, to securing the website with SSL, everything in one place. Moreover, the cost for hosting your site is very minimal if you compare it with other competitors.

Cons

So far till day, I have no complaints about Shopify. It did fulfil all my needs and requirements with ease during my first E-commerce website launch back in 2019.

My feelings are mixed. If you don’t need live customer service or support it’s a good product. Better for larger businesses

Pros

I use Shopify because it is basically a solid platform that is easy to use and the themes that are included are nicer

Cons

I hate that unless you pay more you don’t have live phone support. Also the fact that they charge for things including other providers like ticketing, surveys, mass emails etc

Shopify has always exceeded my expectations. Easy, fast, intuitive, lots of free apps to support the growth of your online shop. My experience has always been pleasant.

Pros

Shopify's interface is the easiest platform I have work with. A new web designer or any person who has no experience designing websites can easily create websites in minutes. This is what I like the most about Shopify.

Cons

If the price of the basic plan would be lower, that would be a huge plus. I think there would be more clients switching Shopify.

Overall, Shopify is very popular and it has great features. The more you use it the easier it is to navigate and that’s a big deal for my customers as well. So far so good.

Pros

For the most part Shopify is easy to use. It initially just takes some getting use to. I like the benefit of it offering 3 months at $1.00 for a small business that helps out a lot. I also like how everything is included you don’t have to use a third party if you don’t choose. Which makes it more convenient.

Cons

I’ve used Shopify previously and I liked how it allowed me to be on a plan at 5.00 a month without having to build a big website. When I tried to reopen it, it wouldn’t provide that plan again and that was very easy and more convenient for me as far as cost.

I’m glad I’m on the Shopify platform. It has helped me to be able to do things on my own and not need as much help from designers.

Pros

Easy to use and never have ever had a problem. With other platforms before I did have problems. Never once with Shopify. Also it seems relatively easy to figure out when I have questions

Cons

I wish the fees could be less per year. Would be nice to keep cost down ..but that’s my only possible concern.

i've been impressed by how capable shopify has been for someone with little to no web development or programming skills. like any SAAS worth it's value, some features you want are hidden behind paywalls, but it is flexible enough that there is almost always a way around it if you are creative, or it is inexpensive via 3rd party apps

Pros

shopify has been very easy for me to stand up a web store on short notice. i have a modicum of coding experience, but documentation is widely available and has allowed me to unlock a TON of value from the package we signed up for

Cons

there are some shortfalls of the API when it comes to managing inventory- the API only updates when available qty changes, not when reserved or committed qty changes. it is also difficult to split and combine orders

As a Language Instructor, it is important to reach more students online. I sell our digital study guides with it and maintain course enrollments. It is a very strong engine of e-commerce, however the monthly prices grow rapidly.

Pros

The usability of the site in terms of creating a website is incredible as our non-technical teaching staff have been able to open storefronts to our online language courses and are able to effortlessly take tuition in a variety of payment options.

Cons

The basic subscription and basic premium apps is not a good value to a small tutoring centre and having to use their outsourced call and chat services can be painstakingly slow when something important in the payment gateway breaks down.

Shopify has been incredibly easy to set up and run for my business. Adding products to the store was easy and strait forward and the platform is easy to navigate so I never miss an order. The built in shipping tools save me time and money and allows me to take care of online orders quickly leaving more time for my customers in store.

Pros

Shopify is an easy to use platform that makes selling to customers online incredibly simple! The built in shipping system is most valuable to me. I love that all I have to do is put the order into a box, attach the shipping label provided and the order is ready to be shipped to my customer.

Cons

I found the Shopify platform was not as easy to sell digital products or "experiences" on but there were some plug-in options which made it possible. Overall, I found Shopify to be the best online platform for selling multiple types of products.

I totally recommend to use Shopify for the people that have an idea but don’t know if it will work. After validate the idea you can decide if you want to continue paying the fees or you prefer to create something in another platform to save the fees.

Pros

Much more easy than create a woocommerce and you can start invoicing with a very good user experience from the first day.

Cons

Very difficult to customize some parts without expert knowledge and the language to develop (liquid) it’s no so popular so it’s more difficult to create plugins or apps than other more popular platforms.

Pros

What I like of Shopify is how user-friendly it is: the interface is very intuitive. You have a problem? There is the customer support that is going to help you in many topics. I actually used it for my own e-commerce and... I would absolutely use it again and again!

Cons

Nothing. Honestly my experience with Shopify has been very positive. If I had something to mention could be the cost of some apps and plans but... overall GREAT!

Pros

It's pretty easy to use if you don't go too deep. To do the main job -> super easy to do, integrated apps can also do pretty much everything at first

Cons

Finding the exact report you're looking for? -> can be a bit messy to find 3 months for 1$? 90 days is your time limit to make sales, otherwise the fees will takeover

Pros

The site building programs enable us to easily establish a store to sell our gift cards and local products without having to know any form of code.

Cons

The external gateways are costly in terms of transaction fees and slow to address urgent payment sync problems.

Now that I am up and running it is not as stressful, but drove me a little crazy at times during set-up. Now I am just in the tweaking stages.

Pros

I knew nothing about Shopify before deciding to open my own e-commerce site. just remembered the name from all the commercials. I like the fact that my store was fairly easy to set up, and it is a decent price.

Cons

The number of add-on apps you require to do business. There just happens to be an app for everything that you have to pay for separately. It would be a much better program if it were all-inclusive.

My wife loves Shopify she owns a small business and that is the platform she uses for her payment really love the payment options the way the website is created. Super easy to use. Customer support is great data management the value for the money do you Shopify is wonderful

Cons

Really wasn’t a fan of the hold it put on my wife’s account it took a while for the funds to get able to access other than that it’s a great
