I like that Therasoft is accessible from anywhere, and is a HIPPA compliant system for storing patient health information. However, I do not experience Therasoft as user friendly. Cryptic system functions and instructions are the major drawback to the online system, and a need to update system forms that are less pejorative and more sensitive to those served in mental health settings. Also, I would love if there was a way to have a task list for completing paperwork (e.g., reminders to complete progress notes/intake reports). This function was available with a different system I have used in the past, and it was so helpful for when things get really busy. It would pop up at log-in until all the tasks were completed.

I wish there was more ease of connectivity between the assessments and the other categories - notes, treatment plan, billing. Billing, overall, has gone well. I would love more website support and a drop down of options for forms to include on the website. Our name and info. could just be inserted to the forms. It would also be helpful to have a Psychological Report Writing software in place to be able to quickly provide Psychological report summaries. I would also love to see an easier way to develop quick invoices for clients where the numbers can just be typed in to an Excel type of experience. I have recommended the software to several of my colleagues.

It's a must have for any cousnelor or therapist that has private practives or treatment programs.

Pros

Therasoft is a awesome program for all counselors and therapist. It helps with monthly reports, billing, and it makes the intake process a lot easier. Being able to have your entire office every where you go is more than an awesome deal to have. It is also affordable unlike many of your other software providers out there.

Cons

The only disadvantage of the program is that it does not have the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) loaded onto the system.

Customer service is typically excellent with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I like that I can do my own billing and collections. I appreciate that the rate has not increased. Con: now that I understand the system (generally) I find some of the entries cumbersome. There are too many steps to add a date of service. I only have one location. Why do I need to manually enter location for each dos? Also we used to be able to check the box at the same time to post the dos. Now it's has to be done separately. I find this tedious. Likewise when entering payments. I would prefer less steps....as few steps as possible. customer service is what has kept me on board.

Overall a good comprehensive software program. Pros: multifunctional and a one-stop-shop for our practices needs (electronic medical record, treatment planner, billing software, client ledger/accounting); LOVE the drop down menus (which are also customizable) for treatment planning and how they coordinate/auto fill with the progress notes; GREAT customer service on all our questions during training and transition. Cons: treatment plans do not have great review / progress monitoring options; reminders/notifications for therapist are not customizable (would love to be able to turn on/off certain notifications for things like doing session progress notes etc).

Would recommend to others looking for consolidation of records, good security and ease of claims filing.

Pros

Cost effective, especially for what you get. LOVE the ease of filing claims. Good support by phone and especially email. Amusing employees--like real people!!

Cons

Can be complicated since it has so many components. Hard to track number of different session types (when a client has so many of each type as is often the case with Va Medicaid)--it seems to only track total sessions. There needs to be some sort of "warning system".

I was skeptical about entrusting my practice to a piece of software, entrusting important data to the cloud, about giving up my attachment to paper. I am so glad I took the leap. Therasoft is an excellent piece of software, complex and sophisticated. It has made my life a lot easier. There are a few glitches, but they are minor. Petra Vaughn, technical support, is a delight to work with. She is tireless and good spirited. She knows her insurance. She has always come to my rescue. When I enter appointments on the calendar they are simultaneously being recorded for billing purposes. Billing submissions are a click away. Highly recommended.

Therasoft is very comprehensive and somewhat complicated. But I prefer it over other practice management programs because of the overall comprehensiveness. From Patient entry and intake to termination. Listing of insurance and billing seem to be seamless. Therasoft could expand in areas of looking at multi-service behavioral health design programs to include online documentation i.e., : psychosocial rehabilitation services, basic skills services, outpatient intensive programing, in-home services and case management. To include other paraprofessional services that are provided in comprehensive community programming.

I have used this product for about 4 years. As a Solo Practitioner, I was looking for something that was not devoted to medical practice because I did not need the extras. This fit the bill. It has helped to streamline my practice, particularly billing. I am able to track my clients from beginning to end with the treatment tools. The only "glitch" is that my ERA's with UBH are not always available in the View EOB tab. That means I see the deposit and have to go to the insurer's web page to see which client was paid. It has been a interesting to be a part of the evolution of this product. The customer service is second to none!

Pros: Customer service is amazing. I feel like I can call anytime and get an actual person who knows me and will help me right then and there. The phone app is wonderful. I am a play therapist and being able to take pictures of art and sand trays for documentation that upload with the push of a button is priceless. I also love the dictate option. Cons: Hard to look up client overall balance without creating an invoice to total up all session costs. Individual session balances are easy but not monthly totals. it would be helpful to see money owed instead of deposit account balance when looking up client names.

Customer service is good, always polite. Program is some what difficult to use. I know I not using the program to its full potential because I'm not sure how. Power points to train how to use program would be helpful or a how to booklet for reference to look up how to use the program. Program should cost less first few months while building a caseload, maybe price dependent on number of clientele would be a good selling point.

Only a month in so I am not able to truly see all the benefits.

Pros

Once program becomes familiar; it will save time. Simple templates. Customer Support is good! Overall this software is a timesaver!!

Cons

Signature page is not convenient when you work out in the community and do not always have access to wifi.

I have been with Therasoft for over 4 years. They are a wonderful group to work with and I will continue using Therasoft. Their progress notes, scheduling, (different types of assessments) is excellent. Therasoft calendar easily implemented and offers an appointment reminder for your patient. Additionally, if you are a provider who accepts insurance, Therasoft can help you with submitting your claims. I would highly recommend Therasoft to anyone of my colleagues. including larger organizations (easy to train staff using this staff software) and for their therapist who are starting up their own practice.

\- I wish Therasoft would send us an email regarding the updates they do on the program. The only way I know about the updates is when I go to do something and it's changed. - I'd like to be able to go "Personal" to input something then be able to return to the same week I'm using instead of it returning to the current week. - When I'm using one screen for a client and I want to view a different screen for that same client, it takes me to the "A's" and I have to start all over again. - When I have an issue and I call Therasoft, they are very helpful, friendly and solve my program issues promptly.

I think when Jas et al designed the software the guiding principle must've been "make it work". In the seven years or so that I've been using Therasoft it has always worked. It perhaps isn't the most fancy, it doesn't do everything I want, or everything the way I want it to, but it does everything I need without fail. That said, when I do have an idea and I give them a call, they actually try to incorporate it into the software. Amazing! My point is, problems I have with the design of the software are easily outweighed by the responsiveness and competence of the customer service.

Scheduling appointments and insurance remittance is good, but customer service is quite poor, slow response time, incorrect information, lack of communication about updates, and several added features are not added to our system (we find out they exist long after being launched).

It would be quicker if after an appointment is on the calendar, when it is time to input the attendance, payment, notes and submit for payment if after each entry the next thing came up automatically. For instance, if after I put the attendance in for client A, the payment page showed up for client A. Then after I put the payment in for client A - the notes automatically came up. Then after the notes were put in - etc..... I have to go back to the calendar for each input for each client. It could much quicker. The software is fairly easy, it could just be improved.

Our client records are maintained on TheraSoft's sercure servers and our counselors have access to all client records via secure internet connection from any or our campus locations. We are able to query our data base to get infromatin about client outcomes, referrals, demographics, etc. TheraSoft has been able to incorperate some of their programs into our data base to ensure an audit trail for client progress notes and treatment plans. We are very satisfied with our relationship with TheraSoft.
