“Best practical EDI solution in market”

OverallIt is a best EDI solution. It makes life easy with ease in trading partner setup, file processing and for troubleshooting.
ProsBelow are few Pros for Microsoft Biztalk from many. 1) BizTalk is great at mapping input files to output file (or input schemas to output schemas). It uses a pretty well designed mapping screen, and you drag arrows from one input field to the output field. You can also put all sorts of conditionals on the input to output fields mappings. That lets you change the output value based on more one input value, or if the input value has a certain value, or the absence of a value, you can set the output value to something else. 2) BizTalk is good at connecting to SAP, and allows you to download SAP Idoc schemas to use in Orchestrations which allow you to send and receive SAP Idocs. 3) BizTalk is really easy in showing actual EDI errors and for troubleshooting.
ConsI cannot think of any Cons for BizTalk Server. However, from system administration perspective, Microsoft can simplify application deployment since its minimum requirements are too strict. But this is not a show stopped!

“Titanic Integration”

OverallWe have had a fairly decent process of achieving massive integrations and updating mass data sets while providing securely encrypted deltas back to several massive customers using BizTalk. We are however understaffed with only 1 person operating BizTalk so it's been a constant struggle to assist and develop our BizTalk implementation in a way that does not cause a consistent impact to our production server up-time and often and impact to our customer's data. Overall, the tool does what it is expected to but is as complex to operate effectively as it is chocked full of features. I think that buyers should beware that this tool will meet ANY level of inbound data demand but ONLY if you have properly staffed it with 3 or more assets, deployed it on it's own stand-alone infrastructure including a stand-alone db server, and if there is ongoing version management. For these reasons I would not suggest this incredibly capable and powerful tool to any organization not fully aware of the cost of deploying and managing it and fully capable of satisfy those requirements.
ProsBiztalk is an absolute monster. The product itself is well beyond what most companies that buy it require. It's very engrained in the Microsoft ecosystem so it can be very visible and straight forward when used in a Microsoft Shop. The software is incredibly capable and chocked full of so many features it could take years to even become a true intermediate user of the tool. This tool is capable of processing enough data to meet the demands of any demanding customer and in our instance processes the data of more than half of the fortune 50 without issue. XSLT allows for converting inbound data sets into any intermediary data set and a database in SQLServer allows for companies running a Microsoft Shop to stay on one platform with a. very powerful integration engine. Encryption allows this tool to deliver secure data at an astonishing rate while conforming to many of the current security standards.
ConsI have yet to be part of a company with this deployed who also staffs correctly for it. Knowing that many firms attempt to get 2 people of work out of every single employee to meet the demands of modern business, this tool requires at least 3 dedicated team members to run at a bare bones minimum. The support for this tool is difficult and requires dumps that can be quite large and debugging diagnostics that can quickly impact servers very negatively. Often in older versions you're left troubleshooting at the packet level which can be expensive and costly. There is also not much monitoring built into this in a pro-active way. Many companies are running older versions and updates are not graceful when comparing SQL and Biztalk. Our current upgrade path requires us to upgrade Biztalk, to upgrade SQL, to then upgrade to the current BizTalk version as an example. You must run Biztalk's database independently so it cannot be mixed in with customer databases or BI databases requiring 3 db servers per environment. Lastly, and I cannot put enough emphasis into this. Biztalk is powerful enough to crash any production server if you've built site services into your production nodes. A bad call from a customer, or a poorly developed integration is a large cause of production downtime with regard to Biztalk.

“Complex deployment but incredibly good results. If you do it well.”

OverallEnabled companies to automate business processes, through the use of adapters which are tailored to communicate with different software systems used in an enterprise.
ProsYou connect on premises applications seamlessly. BT Server provides excellent tools and capabilities to do it. With the 2016 version, you are able to connect to your Logic Apps hosted in Azure, getting access to all the connectors like Salesforce, SharePoint, CRM Online. If you use BizTalk Server to take orders online, connect it to your Logic App, and update Salesforce immediately. Secure and reliable.

“Best EAI tool in the universe”

OverallI worked for 6 years using MS BizTalk Server. I found it useful and powerful when integrating between enterprise applications. It has lot many features to deal with all you business integration problems. Even you can customize pipelines to meet your requirement. MS has even come up with all possible adapters and pipelines where you may not need to customize them. it is fast and powerful in handling performance and security (with SSO). Currently windows Azure has added values to BizTalk server 2016 connecting cloud platforms. The graphical interfaces are user friendly and has minimal code. I would recommend this product to all those who looking for integration within their enterprise.

“Seems to be powerful”

Overalllimited
ProsI like the idea of subscribing to message types. (from an integration point of view), setting up these modules once and then send to applications based on orchestrations, so your system only gets what it wants, not all the things it doesn't (if that makes sense) :)
Consthe mindset and approach is different that what I was used to using the Mirth Application.
