"Neutral Satisfaction"

**Overall:** Neutral. With separate systems and teams, it takes more effort than expected to resolve issues involving more than one system or team. It feels as if Paylocity's system has plateaued in dashboards, benefits, reporting and overall system functionality. I'm starting to feel that other platforms can offer a more dynamic and supportive option with easier interfaces, insights and reporting.

**Pros:** Consolidating all services into one integrated platform. We use Recruiting, Onboarding, HRIS, Benefits (Bswift) to COBRA (WEX), including Section 125 spending accounts, and Compensation modules.

**Cons:** Annual Benefits process for Open Enrollment. The experience with a new team for our 2026 OE was the most challenging of my career, with multiple errors, workflow issues, incomplete work and many phone calls and emails to reach a resolution. I have no recourse to elevate issues above the team that is problematic. Reporting is challenging. There are many options but not always the ones we need. The report writer to create customer reports is also challenging to use unless you watch training courses. Account and sales managers change without advance notice. It is rare that an account manager will reach out to check in and offer support. Outreach is either reactive to an issue submitted, or to pitch a new offering.

**Alternatives Considered:** [ADP TotalSource](https://www.capterra.com/p/113109/ADP-TotalSource/) and [Paycor](https://www.capterra.com/p/133745/Paycor-Perform/)

**Reasons for Choosing Paylocity:** I implemented Paylocity 10+ years ago at my previous firm and recommended it to my current firm's prior HR Director. At the time, this seemed the best choice. It was more flexible and user friendly. Others like UKG and Workday did not offer services to smaller companies at the time.

"Responsive Customer Support & Robust Features Offsets Learning Curve and UI Challenges"

**Overall:** This vendor / product works very well, is reliable, robust, customizable, and has excellent customer support (better than competitors that we've worked with). We use the product for time & labor tracking, PTO balance tracking, and running payroll - it also offers features for HR document storage and employee performance reviews, but we haven't used those much yet. Due to the robust features and customizability offered, implementation was quite involved, and the UI isn't always intuitive; however, whenever I call customer support, they're very responsive, knowledgeable, and effective. I've been an admin for this product for multiple years, are there are still things I don't understand about pay types, cost centers, export matrices, PTO accruals, etc. The only real headache I've had with this product is the inability to change certain, specific things from my end. For example, editing PTO rules / accrual rates has been difficult in the past - they make me fill out a form with tons of questions (some don't even apply to our usage), and whenever I do that, I feel uncertain whether my responses will result in the effect I hope for. I've heard they're building a client-facing accruals team, which I'm sure will help bridge that gap. All that being said, this product has been very successful for us, and we plan to continue using it for the foreseeable future.

**Pros:** Customizability is definitely a huge win for this product - editing pay types, earnings, deductions, taxability, PTO accruals - it's really easy once you get past the learning curve. All the settings go quite deep and could be implemented in a vast array of use cases. Customer service - it's easy to get in touch with support, and the team has always been very responsive, knowledgeable, and effective. Time card approvals, time off requests, and manager / supervisor roles work very well. Managing teams is quick and easy (again, once you bridge the learning curve), allowing you to edit supervisors for time off requests, etc. Departmental mapping has been a win for us. Paylocity also seems to release frequent product updates, so they're definitely investing in the product's future with innovations. I love the "check calculator" feature, which allows us to input checks into payroll that we print outside of the software.

**Cons:** The inability to edit our own PTO accrual settings (or, at least, easily) was a pain point for us, and took quite a while to sort out through multiple attempts and form submissions. I dislike how often I have to switch between the "Time & Labor" section and the "HR & Payroll" section. I wish those two were a bit more seamless, as they work together closely - I often open two tabs at the same time so I can have one page open on each tab, just to reference info or accomplish a task. Lastly, I dislike how complex and vast the UI is. It serves its purpose well and can be highly tailored to any use, but I often find myself clicking around trying to find that "one page with the little setting on it." If I need a feature or setting changed, I often call support, as that seems to work more quickly than navigating the UI.

**Switched From:** [RUN Powered by ADP](https://www.capterra.com/p/185859/RUN/)

**Reasons for Switching to Paylocity:** ADP was admittedly simpler to use, but customer support (especially on important payroll dates) left much to be desired.
