Overall, it's a decent software and company. Half of the issues that we face might be because of our setup. The "junk in, junk out" concept is true of any software!

Pros

I like how willing the Paylocity team is to explain their software, its limitations, and the ways that we can better use it for what we need it to do.

Cons

It does seem like there is a lot of functionality that is perpetually on the road map. I've also used other payroll systems that have more sophisticated, yet simple, ways to meet payroll needs. For instance, being able to accrue benefit premiums in the system while an employee is on an approved leave.

Overall, the system is intuitive and easy to use, but reporting is inconsistent and confusing. Depending on the report type, fields are intermittently available or missing, and labels vary (for example, some reports use "Job Title" while others use "Position Title"). Employee/people reporting lacks clear structure and metadata, which makes it hard to standardize metrics or trust results.

Pros

it's clean, modern, and highly intuitive. Navigation is straightforward, dashboards are customizable, labels and icons are consistent, and the design is highly responsive

Cons

The effectiveness of customer support when it comes to resolving issues. Although reps are responsive and quick to acknowledge tickets, they often lack the technical knowledge to provide timely or lasting solutions. this applies not only to account managers but also data support teams, which can be very frustrating.

Pros

Paylocity is east to navigate and customer friendly! There is nothing that this platform can't do. I love working with the Paylocity Team!

There is not anything that comes to mind. I'm pretty self-sufficient in the system and can navigate through the modules easily.

Overall, my experience has been good. It took me a few weeks to get adjusted with transitioning the system since my job starting using the system. Now it is easy for me to put my work hours in daily and ahead of time.

Pros

I like that the features allow you to save your work hours currently and days prior. Also, I like how you can see everything on one page such as vacation, sick hours, work announcements, employee's birthday and work anniversary date.

Cons

I dislike how you can not edit your hours if you make a mistake and that the home page is hard to navigate due to confusion because of the organization of where sections are located on home page.

Transitioning to paylocity was the best decision we made as a company - we get great service and a lot of flexibility with the product to meet our needs would never go back to ADP

Pros

Transitioned to paylocity from adp in 2020 and we have never been happier. The system is easy to use and met all of our customization needs. which was extremely important to us.

Cons

sometimes calling into service can be a bit wonky - get the wrong team when i am trying to reach someone else - but everyone is always happy to transfer me.

It's been a great transition to Paylocity for the past 3 years and we couldn't imagine going back to our former system.

Pros

Paylocity has more functionality with regard to employees who work in multiple departments and have a combination of salary and hourly designations. Time tracking is a breeze and has streamlined our processes.

Cons

Regular upgrades to the platform, which enhance the product, some of which require employee training and or education.

Overall, a good experience. Account reps are very helpful with getting things fixed or answered for me.

Pros

Easy to use and the reports are great! We have used other payroll services and Paylocity's reporting is the best by far.

Cons

The constant changes to the self service portal and Onboarding. we have been trying to get our employees set up on paperless for months now and it is just not up to par yet. Changes were made in onboarding and I had no idea how to assist my employees, need better communication , not just random emails that look like solicitations.

Using the platform is easy and user friendly. It's fully encompassing of the tools HR and managers need to be successful. However, the implementation piece was HORRENDOUS. Huge lack of communication from Paylocity, ghosting us on meetings, not returning emails or calls. Almost a year later we're still not fully implemented. I wouldn't really recommend moving away from a fully implemented system to go to Paylocity because it will never get fully set up and it's pulling teeth to make any head way.

Pros

Paylocity is a robust enough program with the capability of housing several disciplines in one place such as recruiting, performance, compensation, time and attendance, data insights, expense tracking, onboarding, recognition etc. I like that it is a "one-stop-shop" experience.

Cons

Implementation was terrible. We signed up with Paylocity back in September 2024 and we STILL are not set up all the way. The account managers that we've been assigned cancel meetings on our team regularly and half the time they don't cancel prior, so we're just left there hanging and waiting to see if the account manager will join. It got so bad that we've asked for new account managers TWICE and they all do the same thing. It's lack of communication or care, I am not sure but I have been extremely dissatisfied with Paylocity's implementation team. When we can finally get a response from someone, they ghost us. It's terrible. Paylocity, please improve this.

Positive! The ease of use and visually appealing interface is the best I've used. The Paylocity team has been responsive when any small issue comes up.

Pros

Very user friendly. Has everything I would need as a employee and admin. I love being able to toggle back and forth between timesheets, employee information and recruiting.

Cons

Constant updates keep changing the location of links. Wish there was some sort of heads up or follow up when changing the location of links to make accessibility better.

Cons

The frequent system/product updates are usually followed by system bugs. Not all are easy to resolve.

Overall, our experience is okay. I appreciate the one-stop shop system, but do not appreciate the amount of time I have to dedicate to getting issues with the system resolved in a timely, efficient manner.

Pros

Overall value for our non-profit dollars. Ease of use of most products and all of the various features that help streamline various HR processes.

Cons

There are times when customer support is not timely due to the number of Paylocity staff that get involved on matters and the difficulty to communicate to all staff involved is not efficient for our agencies time and resources.

Overall, I’m very happy with Paylocity. The platform is user-friendly, reliable, and makes it easy to manage payroll and HR tasks efficiently. It has streamlined many of our processes and saved us time, and the support team has been responsive whenever we’ve had questions.

Pros

The top two things I like most about Paylocity are how simplified the payroll process is and how little time it takes to complete. I’m also impressed with their customer service — I can always reach someone quickly and get the answers I need.

Cons

There was a bit of a learning curve during implementation, but it improved once I became more familiar with the system

Overall it helped so much that i never worry anout getting paid nor do i worry about my employees getting paid. The schedules print out easily and the notifications are immediate.

Pros

The easiest payroll time keeping system. I use it for my business as well as my employer for my job. They do get nack to you quickly if you have a question.

Cons

If i miss something they dont tell me. And at first they had a refresh error in the summary screen that is now fixed

So so. I think because we are dealing with charter schools, it makes our system unique, and sometimes it can be frustrating.

Pros

It's always improving. I really like the payroll system. It took some time to get used to the new way of doing it.

Cons

Sometimes when they make changes it breaks our system, and it takes a lot to fix it, longer than anticipated.

Wish it were more integrated like ADP iwIsh I didn't have to pay for module reporting that I used to get for free (ie employee voice)

Ease of payroll, some of the modules are very good. GL integration is good. Just wish they were more integrated

Cons

Benefits modules. I don't like that you can't see peoples benefits from the HR & Payroll module. Seems like a payroll system with a lot of non integrated plug ins that are completely separate from each other

Not too bad. It is nice that when you call or email that someone usually gets to you pretty fast. And if they don't know the answer, they will ask a specialized department and get back to you.

Pros

I like that it handles the municipality state sick time codes and verifies peoples tax set up, to make sure we aren't missing anything.

Cons

You can't create a recurring Expense. Sometimes you get 2 different answers from Customer Support (over phone & email).

Overall it's been a great service that has made both Payroll and HR easier, and I still feel like I've only scratched the surface of what it can do for my workflow, and for my team.

Pros

Their customer support is the best I've ever had. Easily reachable by phone with virtually no wait times. They do a great job of responding via email and clearly address issues professionally. The software is intuitive, easy to navigate, and has tons of features for both Payroll and HR services to explore. It's wonderful for tracking employee time, as well as for processing payroll payments, which has been made even easier with their recent update. Overall the service is an incredible value for the minor cost, even for small business.

Cons

The frequent updates are great, though there are times where the changes take some getting used to - but they have a large Knowledge Base, and support is great at communicating those changes and walking you through any concerns you have.

Pros

The mobile app is helpful for employees to access their timesheet and pay details all in a glace. Payment to employees and vendors is easy with automatic deposits and payments. System is easy to use in the basic areas like employee setup and termination. Reporting allows us to pull the data we need with some options for customization. Service rep is friendly and responsive most of the time.

Cons

Customer service can be an issue with inquiries responded to with a help article that many times is not helpful or does not even address the concern. Customization in reporting is lacking in some areas. Should be able to handle advanced queries and does not always allow for this to happen. Updates to system sometimes fee; more proactive than reactive. Bugs in the system can take months to resolve (if they are ever resolved at all).

I am extremely happy with Paylocity. I have used other platforms and find this to be far better. Our onboarding experience was very good, and the ongoing support from our account manager has been exceptional.

Pros

Paylocity offers great customer service. In addition to having a dedicated account manager, there are several additional account managers who can step in if your dedicated account manager is not available. The platform is also easy to use while offering a lot of functionality.

Cons

Sometime there are updates that are not conveyed in advance that impact how we use the system daily. I wish they were better about communicating small or minor changes.

Overall good experience thus far. First time using a payroll system so I don't have anything to compare it to. Speaks to how easy it is to use though - no experience needed.

Pros

Easy to use. Timecard keeping/updating and importing times to the payroll batch is very simple. Having direct support & communication with our customer service via email is convenient.

Cons

The survey feature is a bit clunky to use - our staff finds that it requires a lot of building to develop even a very short 2 question survey. It does cost extra to run an off cycle payroll, and it costs per check that is printed - not much, but it should be noted if you run off cycle pays for any reason.

Amazing. I really couldn't have chosen a better system. There is so much in this system i have yet to utilize.

Pros

I like everything about paylocity. It is easy to use and the support team is very prompt in responding. I would say we made the best choice with this system.

Cons

There are very few cons i have with paylocity. The biggest one is just that our team has to adjust the way we clock in to ensure we are managing taxes properly in kentucky.
