### "Responsive Customer Support & Robust Features Offsets Learning Curve and UI Challenges"

January 16, 2026

4.0

This vendor / product works very well, is reliable, robust, customizable, and has excellent customer support (better than competitors that we've worked with). We use the product for time & labor tracking, PTO balance tracking, and running payroll - it also offers features for HR document storage and employee performance reviews, but we haven't used those much yet. Due to the robust features and customizability offered, implementation was quite involved, and the UI isn't always intuitive; however, whenever I call customer support, they're very responsive, knowledgeable, and effective. I've been an admin for this product for multiple years, are there are still things I don't understand about pay types, cost centers, export matrices, PTO accruals, etc. The only real headache I've had with this product is the inability to change certain, specific things from my end. For example, editing PTO rules / accrual rates has been difficult in the past - they make me fill out a form with tons of questions (some don't even apply to our usage), and whenever I do that, I feel uncertain whether my responses will result in the effect I hope for. I've heard they're building a client-facing accruals team, which I'm sure will help bridge that gap. All that being said, this product has been very successful for us, and we plan to continue using it for the foreseeable future.

Pros

Customizability is definitely a huge win for this product - editing pay types, earnings, deductions, taxability, PTO accruals - it's really easy once you get past the learning curve. All the settings go quite deep and could be implemented in a vast array of use cases. Customer service - it's easy to get in touch with support, and the team has always been very responsive, knowledgeable, and effective. Time card approvals, time off requests, and manager / supervisor roles work very well. Managing teams is quick and easy (again, once you bridge the learning curve), allowing you to edit supervisors for time off requests, etc. Departmental mapping has been a win for us. Paylocity also seems to release frequent product updates, so they're definitely investing in the product's future with innovations. I love the "check calculator" feature, which allows us to input checks into payroll that we print outside of the software.

Cons

The inability to edit our own PTO accrual settings (or, at least, easily) was a pain point for us, and took quite a while to sort out through multiple attempts and form submissions. I dislike how often I have to switch between the "Time & Labor" section and the "HR & Payroll" section. I wish those two were a bit more seamless, as they work together closely - I often open two tabs at the same time so I can have one page open on each tab, just to reference info or accomplish a task. Lastly, I dislike how complex and vast the UI is. It serves its purpose well and can be highly tailored to any use, but I often find myself clicking around trying to find that "one page with the little setting on it." If I need a feature or setting changed, I often call support, as that seems to work more quickly than navigating the UI.

### "Paylocity review"

February 27, 2026

4.0

Overall, Paylocity is a very strong HRIS system and provides all the tools we need to support our organization. The onboarding module is especially impressive, as it creates a smooth and professional process that leaves a very positive first impression on our new employees.

Pros

Great HRIS system! It’s very user-friendly, and I appreciate that the team is always looking for ways to improve the platform. My favorite feature is how simple open enrollment is through the portal once everything is set up. The automated file feeds are also excellent — once configured, they eliminate the need to manually add information to carrier sites, which saves a significant amount of time.

Cons

The benefits support team has not been the best in my experience. However, when I call about other issues, the support staff are typically quick to respond and very helpful. Reporting functionality could also be improved, as there are additional charges for special report configurations, which can be frustrating when trying to access the specific data you need.

### "Where Paylocity Shines—and Where It Stumbles"

January 29, 2026

3.0

Overall, it has been a learning experience with Paylocity. It has it's ups an downs like most systems. They are expanding but are still in the early stages of the program, but Paylocity has come a long way since we first joined.

Pros

Friendly account managers that are willing to go above and beyond to help. The updates that are rolling in are addressing the issues that we had been having.

Cons

The integrations between modules are not as seamless as they should be. Examples are Time & Labor does not interact very well with time off in HR& Payroll. Recruiting module has its downfalls, such as not being able to extract all candidate data to a csv or xls file where the employer can better filter for candidates.

### "Excellent Customer Service"

March 9, 2026

4.0

Overall experience is great. Great customer Service. Whenever I have a questions that I can't find in the knowledgebase, I know I can call my customer service representative and get an answer right away.

Pros

I like the way Paylocity keeps you up to date on everything. They have great communication and articles that they post all of the time with all of the reminders you need and any upcoming actions we need to be aware of.

Cons

The leave time is a bit confusing for the employees. I usually have to explain how much actual time they have left to use because of the way it displays the Plan Year used and Available Left To Use. Especially at the end of the year.

### "Ease of Use"

February 26, 2026

Almost always positive! The system is so quick and easy to use, their support network and environment are always on top of things and prioritize us.

Pros

Their support team has always been so helpful, when we cannot solve a problem they make sure the hop right in with us to help. Also all of their systems are very user friendly and easy to learn/teach!

Cons

Most things we used to struggle with are either being built or on the horizon. The most helpful would be a more intuitive reporting feature in some areas.

Its been a very frustrating journey to say the least. None of the modules seem to talk so it makes a simple task take 4 times as much effort/clicks as it should.

Pros

I like that It gives us the capability to set up carrier feeds for benefit providers, and I like bswift on its own.

Cons

VERY POSITIVE. JJ ZEARLY WAS GREAT IN THE EARLY PHASE OF THE IMPLEMENTATION/PURCHASE. VERY PLEASED SINCE THE PURCHASE.

Pros

EASE OF ACCESS EMPLOYEE INFORMATION - PAYCHECK INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYEES AS WELL AS TIME TRACKING ACCESS FOR EMPLOYEES WEEKLY AS WELL. THESE FEATURES REALLY HAVE HELPED EASE OUR HR/PAYROLL FUNCTIONS HERE AT PROPULSE. IT IS ALSO FAIRLY EASE TO CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT AS WELL FOR SUPPORT WHEN ISSUES ARISE.

Cons

### "Great Service!"

June 5, 2026

5.0

Overall, we have been very pleased with Paylocity. It is a great system with a great price and great customer service.

Pros

Where to begin? My favorite thing about Paylocity is the customer support. Every employee I've encountered here seems like they are genuinely happy working for this company. My second favorite thing is the ease of use of the product. We are switching from a different, more difficult to use product. I save so much time not having to teach everyone how to use Paylocity, because it's so easy!

Cons

There are a few options available for viewing certain things on thier webpage, like employee information. I wish there was just one, so it didn't switch back and forth, but not a huge deal.

### "Paylocity is easy enough, I'd recommend it."

January 30, 2026

4.0

Overall, for day to day use I like it. It's a lot better than some platforms other places I have worked used. It sends you a lot of notifications, so you'll know when you've missed a punch, or if you have a W2 ready.

Pros

It's very easy to use to clock in and out. Also, you can find you're company's calendar in it to stay updated on events. You can easily access your time sheet, or check stubs.

Cons

It uses your location to allow you to clock in. I don't mind that but it's a little wonky sometimes. For instance, I may be in the office trying to clock out but it says, I'm trying to clock out from an unauthorized location. Then I have to keep refreshing the app or walking around. Also, it's a little hard to navigate to certain information on the app compared to the website.

### "Don't wait, make the switch!"

February 12, 2026

5.0

We have been using the product for 4 months and I am happy we made the choice to switch. Knowing that I can call and get true support, when I need it immediately, is a huge relief. If it's not urgent, I can email my rep and I get a response relatively quickly.

Pros

Their customer service is far and above what our previous provider offered! It has taken us a month or two to get used to the system but I do find it truly easy to use and enjoy all the different features they offer. Their mobile app is great and my employees have no issues tracking time via the app or their computer.

Cons

There is so much to learn so the onboarding was a little overwhelming but eventually it all clicks! I tried to speed through the onboarding process, against my reps recommendation. It's worth taking your time as there is a lot to learn. I still have training modules that I need to complete, 4 months later.

### "User-friendly and easy to integrate "

February 26, 2026

5.0

Paylocity is very user-friendly and their customer support has always addressed my issues quickly and skillfully.

Pros

Paylocity is very easy to use for our complex and multi-funded nonprofit environment. It makes payroll a breeze and it also integrates with Employee Navigator.

Cons

### "Amazon Payroll System"

April 1, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Paylocity has been very positive. It has greatly improved our payroll and HR processes by centralizing everything into one platform. While there was a learning curve at the beginning, once familiar, the system becomes a powerful and reliable tool. I would recommend Paylocity to other companies looking to improve efficiency and organization.

Pros

Paylocity offers a very user-friendly platform with a wide range of features all in one place, including payroll, time tracking, and HR tools. I especially like the automation capabilities and reporting options, which help streamline processes and save time. The system also makes it easy to manage employee data and improves overall operational efficiency.

Cons

There is a significant learning curve when first getting started with Paylocity, especially for new users who are not familiar with HRIS systems. Some features can be difficult to navigate initially, and certain workflows are not as intuitive as they could be. Additional training or onboarding support would make the experience smoother.

Paylocity has great customer support, easy to use for both admin and employee. Our employees have felt the ease of use when clocking in and out, tax forms, and their paychecks. We value that as admins.

Pros

The customer support has been very helpful. When we use the AI tool we have solved a lot of issues, but customer support has been there to answer many questions quickly.

Cons

The reporting inside of Paylocity is difficult to navigate. There are many reports that we want to combine, but are unable to because the information is stored in different sections of paylocity and they don't speak to eachother.

### "Works Well...Until You Need Help"

February 17, 2026

3.0

Paylocity Recruiting works for the size company that we are; simply out of the box. However, as a recruiting team, we've learned that many of the functions that may exist, are not accessible by recruiters if they do not have the onboarding function. What I find most debilitating is that after having exhausted my search of tools/resources, but still have questions, I do not hear back from our designated representative. In fairness, I understand that we were recently given a new rep, however, leading up to just a few weeks ago, I would never hear back and when I did, she first went to another employee who is listed as primary contact (as to validate my question).

Pros

Specific to Recruiting platform, the ease in moving candidates through and effectiveness in message outreach.

Cons

The reporting. I feel that it is not intuitive, therefore causes a clunky process that leaves me questioning the validity of the data. Ease of using and sharing repeatable form templates with hiring stakeholders; specifically allowing hiring stakeholders to review recruiter feedback, then using the same form, insert their interview feedback so that it is one document of feedback that is retained for record keeping.

Pros

### "Efficient System That Gets the Job Done"

February 26, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Paylocity has been solid. The platform is easy to navigate, and day‑to‑day tasks like payroll, approvals, and employee updates run smoothly. It streamlines a lot of workflows and cuts down on manual work. A few areas like reporting, page load times, and the occasional inconsistent support could be better, but overall it’s a reliable, user‑friendly system that gets the job done without a lot of hassle.

Pros

Easy to use: Interface is clean and mostly intuitive. Good payroll automation: Runs smoothly with few errors. Strong self‑service: Employees can update info + view paystubs easily. Decent mobile app: Handy for quick approvals and time-off stuff. Customizable workflows: Approvals and forms are flexible.

Cons

Onboarding modules feel basic: Could be more robust. UI feels dated in spots: Not the most modern experience. Reporting can be clunky: Custom reports aren’t always intuitive. Slow load times: Some pages take longer than they should.

As this is my first time working with this company. I would not recommend it to anyone else. for the reason stated above.

Pros

The simplicity of the system itself. It is easy to navigate, and information is easy to find. The reports are detailed and easily accessible. The cost for services is a value as well. When a great rep is on the phone the customer support is nice.

Cons

Customer support is limited and there is never a manager available. There is no organization within the company. Everyone isnt trained to full client needs, meaning the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. Call times are longer than i have waited with any payroll company. I have been hung up on and spoken to rudely because i felt the right support wasnt being handled in a correct manner. Expediting critical matters have a very long lead time. 71 days is entirely way to long for payroll type of issues. Team collaboration doesn't seem to exist. Management doesn't like to speak with us and instead instruct the reps and tell them through it instead of being management and stepping up to the plate to resolve issues that are way past escalation, they leave management to the reps who are trying their best. Time tracking of important issues is not important. I like to be patient and let people do their job but there is no communication or follow-up.

### "Easy to Use and Affordable!"

February 26, 2026

We have partnered with Paylocity for 13 years, and our experience has consistently been positive. The platform has grown with our organization, and the service has remained dependable and cost‑effective. While there are occasional areas for improvement, Paylocity continues to meet our needs and provide solid value year after year.

Pros

Paylocity offers strong value for the cost, and the platform is intuitive and easy for our team to navigate. The layout makes it simple to find what we need quickly, and new users can get up to speed without much training. Overall, it provides a reliable and user‑friendly experience that supports our daily payroll and HR tasks efficiently.

Cons

The biggest challenge has been the limited ability to speak directly with certain setup or specialty teams when working through more complex issues. Having to go through intermediaries can slow down the process and make it harder to resolve questions quickly. More direct access would make the experience even better.
