### "4 Star Review Paylocity"

February 26, 2026

Pros

I like the integration with Payroll and Time and Labor and how easy it is to start and submit payroll. I like the Community Page where we can communicate to team members.

Cons

Sometimes we have issues with garnishments going to wrong state or issues with E-verify during On Boarding.

### "Payroll Manager"

January 29, 2026

Poor. I am disappointed in the level of service we have received. We are able to run payroll, but the amount of error is unimaginable coming from a company that payroll was deemed invisible because errors never happened previously.

Pros

There was a couple people in the initial transition that actually cared but not all. We unfortunately had a few that couldn't handle our account and before they were reassigned quite a few things were setup incorrectly

Cons

We were promised many things that they were unable to deliver on. Time Clock restrictions, Payroll setup, Benefit setup and reporting to name just a few

### "Positive Experience with Paylocity"

September 26, 2025

4.0

Fairly positive. I've worked with several other platforms and this one is preferred for the cost. The client support has been the best.

Pros

Wait time for support is minimal and resolutions are generally found in a reasonable amount of time, the staff is friendly during interactions via phone and email. Most of the technology is intuitive and user-friendly. It is an all-in-one resource with features available for most payroll and human resources needs.

Cons

The PTO policy setup is a bit complex and requires consistent auditing and manual updates to ensure my employees have the proper balance. Would like to have this automated better and to be able to trust the calculations more.

### "Would highly recommend Paylocity (RG Team)"

September 25, 2025

4.0

is an excellent choice if you value responsiveness, compliance support, and integrated HR/payroll tools. Our implementation team was patient, responsive and professional!

Pros

Excellent customer service – responsive and helpful (usually same day or the following day vs having to wait 5-7 days in past experience with other payroll companies) All-in-one platform – payroll, HR, benefits, time & labor, and compliance tools integrated. Employee self-service – staff can view pay stubs, update info, request time off, and access W-2s online. Automation & accuracy – handles tax filings, direct deposits, and reporting with reduced manual work. Compliance support – assists with multi-state tax requirements, ACA reporting, and other regulatory filings. Scalability – suitable for small practices like ours but also supports larger organizations. Integration – connects with benefits platforms like Ease, retirement providers, and third-party systems.

Cons

Huge learning curve – robust features can feel overwhelming at first for smaller teams. Cost – tends to be more expensive than simpler payroll-only solutions. Customization limits – some reports and workflows aren’t as flexible as expected without extra support. Dependence on reps – while customer service is strong, some complex tasks may require escalation or manual intervention.

### "User-Friendly System with Helpful Support"

September 25, 2025

5.0

I appreciate that the platform is constantly improving and adding new features to help streamline workflow. While I primarily use for payroll, anytime I have a question about something else, our Service and Benefits Reps are just an email away and always ready to help

Pros

This is the second company I’ve worked for that uses , and I continue to be impressed. The platform is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. The "Help" feature offers a robust library of articles and guides, making it simple to find step-by-step instructions whenever I’m unsure about a process.

Cons

One area that could be improved is how time off information is displayed—such as accruals and balances. I found it a bit confusing at first, and it took me some time to figure out how to interpret the data. While I eventually figured it out, it's not very intuitive or easy to locate on the first try.

### "New to Paylocity"

September 25, 2025

4.0

My first rep that I worked with was hands down AMAZING!!!!! I've had some reps that just seem greener than I am which can be frustrating in difficult situations. Our integration into benefits the first year was a bad experience BUT they made up for it and we have been rolling okay ever since. I can't say that I would jump and move to another system but I have personally experienced other systems except Quickbooks. Researching it doesn't sound like there's a perfect system out there. Either there's problems with this on that one and problems with that on this one. Again, once I felt more comfortable just maneuvering in the system and how it integrated within itself I feel fairly good about it.

Pros

I stepped into after about 6 months of them using it. I was not trained or educated on the system very well and it took me some time to understand the dynamics and how it integrated with each other and I'm still learning some things. Over all I think it's pretty basic and straightforward for the day to day activities.

Cons

I would say that making corrections after the fact is pretty tedious and can be confusing (for me) AND I'm not a huge fan of the reports just yet and that could be the lack of knowledge and training. That being said I've found ways to still get exactly what I'm needing so I haven't been without.

### "Paylocity - Buyer beware"

September 26, 2025

3.0

We find that the payroll side of is very weak. There are many functions that we were told by our sales consultant were available but quickly found out during implementation that he flat out lied. The functions that are missing are ones that were available to us in previous payroll systems dating back to 2013 so it doesn't make sense that Paylocity is so behind the times with their payroll module. It seems like it was thrown together hastily. Honestly, if it wasn't for the HRIS part of the system, I would be looking to switch already. My advice to anyone considering Paylocity is to get in writing anything the Sales consultant promises. Do not just take their word for it. Also, if you have more complex payroll needs, Paylocity is probably not for you. We hope they will make the necessary upgrades but who knows how long that will take.

Pros

We recently completed implementation services and so far we have found that the HR side of is very strong. Implementation would have been better if it didn't feel so rushed and there was more time taken to go over the intricacies of the system. We ended up having to hire an outside consulting firm to help us fully implement the pieces to the HR module since we have never had an HRIS system before. That was an added cost we did not anticipate. The other positive piece is our service consultant. She is always really responsive and resolves issues quickly.

Cons

Our payroll implementation was basically a disaster. Having gone through 2 other payroll system implementations in the past, I know how it should go and this one did not go well. Our implementation specialist was incompetent at best. She separated from right after our implementation was "complete" (not really since we had numerous outstanding issues). We were then moved to her supervisor who promised to resolve the issues but instead disappeared and stopped responded to emails. Finally, we were connected to someone who is clearly an expert with Paylocity payroll and has done a great job resolving the issues. I wish it hadn't taken an additional 6 months but at least it is taken care of at this point.

Great produce the training has been helpful compared to our previous system this in a big improvement

Pros

### "Overall great value and software"

September 26, 2025

5.0

I think is a great payroll software and appreciate the staff helping especially wanting to assist at conferences!

Pros

has many aspects that I like, just a few the note taking section for meetings with employees to keep track of discussions, the ease of use in all areas of the software, customer support is in chat on a minute notice, which is helpful when running payroll and need a question answered in a pinch, time tracking is not used by our company but was at previous job and was great. Payment processing is simply a breeze! Support through email is very productive as well. The value is above what I expected, as the basic includes cost includes basic employment perks.

Cons

's tracking of vacation and sick is great except when adjustments are made the columns are not in chronological order when done on the same day.

### "Great Payroll company that would be beneficial for any company."

September 26, 2025

5.0

From our need for an expedited implementation from our previous payroll processer has done everything they can to accommodate our needs in the timeframe we have given. We would and have actively passed Paylocity onto others who have been looking for a new payroll system. We have yet to have a bad interaction with them.

Pros

is very simple to use without being a simple system. The team at Paylocity is extremely knowledgeable, from implementation through ongoing support we have had a a great team to work with.

Cons

Because the system in so robust there are a lot of modules we are probably under or not utilizing at all. A follow up with after 6 months or a year to evaluate what we are using and are not using would be good.

### "Paylocity is the Perfect partner for us!"

September 25, 2025

5.0

Excellent from Day 1! From the minute we talked to our sales rep Jenny, to the implementation and troubleshooting with our client rep and team, it's been a win/win proposition!

Pros

is intuitive, easy to use and has features that our staff love! The customer support is stellar and the communication about product features and new add-ons is much appreciated! Employees appreciate the time tracking features and we appreciate how easy it is to run payroll!

Cons

I would appreciate more step by step guides that tell you exactly what to do when an employee terminates (all the things you need to do in , COBRA, Spending Accounts and Bswift). I feel like we don't have the whole work flow.

### "Paylocity- Pros & Cons"

September 25, 2025

5.0

I love and believe it has more pros than cons. I also believe any cons can be addressed and sent to the teams who create products based off of feedback as they have over the years.

Pros

The quality of the product is very good. The service people respond promptly and help with any issues that come up. The system is very easy to use when it comes to time and record keeping. does very well at sending newsletters out and providing training when things change in the system.

Cons

The only cons to are the retention scheduling of documents and not being able to delete Journals from the Company Admin perspective (especially when it comes to performance journals, which are no longer needed after the annual performance evaluation is completed).

### "All the bells & whistles!"

October 7, 2025

4.0

Overall. I think is a good bang for the buck. I have been hard pressed to find a system with all the bells & whistle offered as Paylocity at this price point.

Pros

I find to be a good value for the money. The capabilities are great in comparison to many of the platforms that do not offer full fledged modules like expense reimbursement. It is relatively user friendly and we use it for time keeping, tax management, recruiting, onboarding, payroll, etc. I like that the emailers with system updates, etc. I truly feel that there are a lot of benefits to Paylocity.

Cons

We have experienced issues with a few things, notifications not working consistently, implementation of expenses and time & labor was almost completely done by us, lastly, customer service can be hit or miss.

Alternatives considered

[Paycom](https://www.capterra.com/p/130949/Paycom/)

### "Payroll & Benefits manager"

October 2, 2025

5.0

My overall review for is it is not like it was a few years ago when worked at another company. It was easier to use and the features were not all on their own dashboards. I do like Paylocity as it has made my job much easier than when I started HR/Payroll years ago. I appreciate the fact they are keeping up with the times and the technology.

Pros

The account manager is quick to reply and the standing meetings we have are very helpful. She takes care of any issues we have right away. The use of the program is super user friendly and if you have an issue their team is on it right away. I like the ACH aspects as it gives me one less thing to worry about. The features of the different aspects on the dashboard are helpful as they are easy for the leaders to understand and there is personable user access. Because we have Lockton as our broker our implementation costs for this HRIS were minimal. We have an outside ERP so we do not use the time tracking feature to track hours worked.

Cons

I do not like the fact that there is no file feed going from Cobra to our carriers. I was unaware that we were receiving payments and they were not going to our carriers for the coverage so the coverage was stopped and I received no notice of getting the payments from the previous employee for the cobra.

### "Working with Paylocity is an Amazing Experience"

September 30, 2025

5.0

My overall experience, which is over 5 years between my two companies, has been amazing - it truly is an all-in-one business solution.

Pros

I love so much that when I left my previous company, where we had Paylocity, I talked my CEO and CFO into getting the platform for my new company. I have never had anything but a positive experience with Paylocity. My favorite part is the customer service - there is always someone available to help you at any time of day, 7 days a week. The system does everything - Payroll, HR, recruiting, onboarding, offering a training hub, and more. It is an extremely intuitive system to use and there are trainings available on-demand if you need help with a specific topic. Everyone that was assigned to our integration period was extremely communicative and always available over the phone, via email and via zoom. You cannot beat the value for your money as it is an all in one hub and even takes care of all tax preparation. As the person that deals with Payroll, the time tracking feature is especially convenient and helpful for completing payroll in a timely manner. Highly recommend!

Cons

There is literally nothing I dislike about . It is hands down the most comprehensive system around.

September 25, 2025

4.0

My sales support team, the implementation team and the after-implementation team are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend them for your future HRIS and Payroll provider.

Pros

has the best customer support team of any vendor I have ever used. They are extremely knowledgeable and are very well versed in all aspects of Paylocity. Also, their system is very easy to use.

Cons

I think what I like least about their service is the benefits program. It wasn't able to support our multiple locations in different States. It took too long to get open enrollment set up and they relied on the customer to do most of the work. It was very frustrating.

5.0

I've used since 2018 and I've done everything from onboarding, payroll, and adding tax/deduction/earning codes. I've had a great experience overall and would recommend it to any business (big or small).

Pros

I feel like the customer support is amazing. Whether it be via email, chat, or over the phone, everyone is very helpful in resolving any issues that may arise. The knowledge base articles are also very helpful and answer most questions without needing to reach out. Also, the onboarding of employees is great with the customizing options that are available for that process. There are also so many services available to assist with items like garnishments and the like.

Cons

My least favorite thing about is the sick time accrual and refresh set up. I feel like I can never get it set up correctly. I'm sure this is something I can get worked out though if I set aside some time with our account manager.

We use for payroll, HR, Benefits, and Onboarding. The "one-stop shop" makes it easy to process each step. The intuitive features allow new users to become comfortable with it very quickly, reducing training time.

Pros

I really like the ease of use of . It is very intuitive, and if I do have a question, the vast knowledge base usually has the answer, along with step-by-step instructions. My service team is easy to get in touch with and is very responsive to any questions we have.

Cons

Our overall experience with has been very positive. I like many of the features it provides.

Pros

is easy to use. Our payroll process and recruitment process has been great. I love the new AI search feature and I even uploaded our handbook, into Paylocity so our employees can search it easier, using the AI feature. I love the data insights, and we have just started using employee voice.

Cons

When there is a specific problem or question that may come up, sometimes it is hard to get an answer. It seems like general questions go into a queue, but then need to be escalated if they don't have an answer. However there are times when customer support gets back to us right away on something. 5.0

Overall, it's a good choice; I would recommend it. They have made some great updates to payroll, which have really simplified the process and reduced processing time.

Pros

Customer support is responsive and provides helpful guidance when questions arise. The platform is intuitive, making it easy for administrators and employees to navigate without extensive training. Features such as direct deposit, tax filing, reporting, and system integrations make payroll and HR tasks more streamlined. Overall, Paylocity combines functionality with simplicity, creating a well-rounded solution that supports organizational needs while providing a positive experience for both staff and management.

### "Paylocity customer who would recommend their platform to any other HR professionals without hesitation."

September 25, 2025

5.0

Overall, my experience with has been good. Reps are usually quick to respond and provide helpful information. I found that everything my sales rep said to me before we signed the contract to switch to Paylocity was true. Some companies and/or reps will tell you what you need to hear in order to get the sale. That was not the case at all.

Pros

We switched to a little over a year ago. Overall, implementation was smooth. There were a few issues to work out with the GL, but customer support was great with communication and making the changes quickly. We chose Paylocity for payroll, but having additional modules was great: recruiting, benefits management, ACA reporting, OSHA tracking, I-9 compliance, etc. Having all of these functions in one platform allows for greater ease of use. The customizable features throughout the modules is great!

Cons

The thing I like least about is that every additional module we have used so far requires you to purchase that modules for everyone. For example, the training module. The way our company is structured, I only needed about 40 people to have access to the learning system, but I had to buy for everyone. I will say, my sales rep did work out a cost per person that made it more manageable.

Reason for choosing Paylocity

Weekly cost, features, implementation cost was way less than others.

### "Paylocity Proves to be a Good Value"

September 25, 2025

5.0

Our overall experience has been positive. The system has features that benefit us greatly, even if they can be clunky to learn how to use at first. The reps are generally helpful, and always courteous. They have even helped me create videos and custom trainings for our staff on how to use certain features. I would recommend to companies looking for a good value HRIS.

Pros

is a good value for what we pay. It is much less expensive than legacy systems like ADP, but offers a lot of the same functionality. We have a bundle package that includes Timekeeping, Payroll, HR functions, Community, Compensation (market pay data and automation), and Performance Management. As with all systems, the buildout can be a beast, but the reps are helpful. It does what we need it to do. As a nonprofit, we definitely want a robust system that doesn't break the bank.

Cons

The build on the back end does seem to be somewhat compartmentalized. For example, from an employee's screen, I can't see everything about them. I have to go into another section of to see their timecard information and switch back and forth depending on what information I am looking for. That can be inconvenient. Another thing that can be strange about using Paylocity is that some things are not intuitive. It can be difficult to know where in the menu I need to go to access certain settings, and some settings are not even open for clients to update, they have to be done on the back end by Paylocity. That can serve a good purpose so that you don't make consequential mistakes in the way your system is set up, but I prefer to understand the settings of the system I am using instead of relying on representatives to do everything for me which can take longer.

### "A Paylocity Fan!"

September 25, 2025

4.0

Overall, I am a fan. I've worked with ADP, Paychex, UKG, etc., and would say that Paylocity holds the best value for what we pay overall. I've given a four star rating because I think there is a lot more room for growth.

Pros

I love that carries this new company energy, and is always striving to grow, enhance, and develop into better products for their clients.

Cons

There are several gaps in products that I wished communicated with each other more. As a basic example, I wish that there were more enhancements to Supervisor Timecard Approvals, where supervisors could see this as a task listed in Home. Better communication across products would lead to more efficiency and ease of access. I also wish that we could have more workflow capacity.

### "Not A Paylocity Fan At All"

September 25, 2025

3.0

is not a very user friendly software. I am used to being able to make updates to information myself. Most stuff requires a ticket. again that requires a long wait time.

Pros

It was a fairly easy system to use being that I had only used ADP. I utilized the learning modules frequently. I also love the product update emails.

Cons

The way the customer support it set up. I don't like that I rarely ever can get in contact with my account rep. Also, when i do they have to escalate my request to another department. Resolutions often take weeks even months. Half the time I end up resolving the issue myself.
