Our overall experience with Cobalt has been excellent. From the very start, their team was collaborative and transparent, which made the implementation process smooth and stress-free. They helped us clean up our data during migration and delivered a system that works seamlessly for our needs. Since going live, we’ve found the system easy to use and incredibly effective in modernizing our operations. Their support team has been responsive and helpful, and the training they provided before launch set us up for success. Cobalt has truly been a great partner in helping us serve our members better.

Pros

Working with Cobalt has been a great experience. Their implementation process was so much better than what we’ve seen with other vendors. Instead of disappearing for months and delivering a finished system all at once, they kept us involved at every step. It felt like a real partnership. They also helped clean up our data during the migration, which made the transition so much smoother. On top of that, their self-service portal has been a game-changer—our members can pay dues online now, and we’ve cut down on all the back-and-forth with paper invoicing. We’re really happy with how everything turned out.

Cons

We don’t have many complaints about Cobalt. Their training before we went live was excellent, which set us up for success and reduced the need to reach out for support. On the rare occasions we do need assistance, their support team is responsive and makes things easy to resolve. Overall, it’s been a smooth experience.

Our overall experience with Cobalt has been excellent. From the beginning, they understood our challenges and worked closely with us to ensure a smooth transition to their platform. The system they built for us has made our processes much more efficient, and it gives us confidence in the accuracy of our data, which is something we struggled with before. Their team is responsive and easy to work with, which is a huge plus. They don’t just offer quick fixes; they make sure we have the right solution for our specific needs. We genuinely enjoy working with them and look forward to continuing our partnership.

Pros

Working with Cobalt to transition from iMIS was a smooth and straightforward experience. They made sure everything was handled efficiently, which helped save us time and resources. One of the biggest improvements we've seen is in the accuracy and consistency of our data - it’s all seamlessly integrated with our other systems, which has really built trust in the platform. Our staff loves the user-friendly interface, and our members have also found it much easier to interact with. Being cloud-based has made such a difference, too; we can now access everything from anywhere without relying on extra tools. Plus, the individual membership process is so much more streamlined. Overall, we’re thrilled with how Cobalt has helped us simplify our operations and improve our overall efficiency.

Cons

Honestly, we don’t have any major dislikes with Cobalt. There’s always a learning curve when switching to a new system, but Cobalt’s team made the transition pretty smooth for us. Occasionally, we run into small things that we need help with or that could be tweaked, but Cobalt’s support team is responsive and quick to provide solutions. Overall, it’s been a great fit for our needs.

The seamless integration with some of our key tools, like Braintree, ClickDimensions, Higher Logic THRIVE and Informz and CMR, has significantly improved our operations and allowed us to better serve our members. While there are some areas that require additional time and process for code changes, the overall flexibility, customization, and robust functionality of the system have empowered us to grow and adapt. Cobalt's commitment to understanding our unique needs and delivering tailored solutions has made them a valuable partner in helping us achieve our organizational goals.

Pros

After a decade with our previous AMS, we realized we needed a more flexible and scalable solution to keep up with our evolving organizational needs. Cobalt's Engagement Dynamics stood out for its ability to integrate seamlessly with other best of breed systems. We have integrations with Braintree, CMR for event management, ClickDimensions, Higher Logic THRIVE and Informz, and Zoom, as well as our website's content management system. What truly set Cobalt apart was their commitment to understanding our unique requirements. They tweaked the product and added custom solutions that fit our processes perfectly, allowing us to efficiently manage everything from event registrations to member engagement. The level of support and responsiveness from the Cobalt team helped make the transition smoother. We have a unified system that met our initial needs and continues to evolve as our needs transform.

Cons

One area that has been a bit of a challenge for us with Cobalt's Engagement Dynamics platform is the process of making certain changes. Occasionally, we reach out to their support team for adjustments that seem straightforward to our team, only to learn that these changes require code modifications. Since Cobalt handles code changes through formal projects, this means additional steps like legal documentation and regression testing, which can extend the timeline and increase costs. While we understand the need for these precautions to ensure system stability, it can be a bit cumbersome when quick changes are needed.

Our overall experience with Cobalt has been very positive. Their platform has significantly enhanced our member management capabilities, integrated seamlessly with our website, and improved our data handling processes. Moving to the cloud has been a game-changer for us, providing cost savings on security and access to continuous updates from Microsoft. While there are some weak spots, as noted in the dislike section—particularly around donation tracking and the integration of our foundation activities—we're optimistic about the upcoming improvements in these areas. We do feel that the cost of the solution is a bit high, but the value it brings to our operations and the potential for continued innovation makes it a worthwhile investment for our organization.

Pros

We've been partnering with Cobalt for nearly a decade, and their support has been instrumental in transforming our approach to association management. When we initially sought a new AMS, our goal was to move away from a disjointed system to one that fully integrated our public-facing website with our member portal, streamlined our data processes, and supported our growing community of cardiothoracic surgery professionals worldwide. Cobalt guided us through this transition and over time, moved us from their hosted datacenter to the Microsoft cloud, which has been a game-changer for our organization. Not only has it reduced our ongoing security costs, but it also provides us with access to Microsoft’s continuous updates and R&D capabilities, offering us more opportunities for seamless integrations and system enhancements. From migrating our existing data to building a cohesive member experience that now includes single sign-on across multiple systems, authenticated webform submissions, and auto renewals for memberships and/or subscriptions, Cobalt has exceeded our expectations. Their deep understanding of our needs and their ability to deliver a robust, scalable solution has made them a true partner in our journey to better serve our members. What’s even more fantastic is Cobalt’s support. We don’t need to explain our entire business and software solution every time we open a ticket. Cobalt will ask questions to make sure they provide the right solution for what we are asking for, instead of just pushing any solution on us. This is rare in the industry. We’re excited to continue growing with Cobalt by our side as we look to the future of our organization and the evolving needs of our global community.

Cons

While Cobalt's platform has brought many benefits to our organization, there are still areas for improvement, particularly when it comes to donation tracking. As a nonprofit with a dedicated foundation, it's important for us to manage both member information and donation records seamlessly. Currently, we rely on Donor Perfect for our donation tracking, but it lacks the ability to easily match members with their contributions, which means we're often cross-referencing data across systems. We're glad to hear that Cobalt is actively working on enhancing their donation tracking capabilities. We're looking forward to the new features that will allow us to manage our foundation activities directly within the same system, streamlining our processes and giving us a more comprehensive view of our members and donors. Having everything in one place will be a significant improvement and a valuable asset to our organization.

Overall, our experience with Cobalt Membership Dynamics has been highly positive. The system has proven to be both flexible and efficient, meeting the majority of our needs right out of the box. We’ve been able to seamlessly track our Account/Individual Membership, Certification, and Accreditation data in one centralized system, which is a rarity without going for a fully custom and expensive solution. Cobalt's training was incredibly thorough, and as a result, our team is more self-sufficient and doesn't need to rely on support as much as we did with previous systems. When we do need assistance, the support team is responsive and quick to address any issues. We also value how Cobalt took our feedback seriously, incorporating new features, like the universal cart, into future product releases. The integration with Microsoft products like Outlook and Teams has been seamless, and even small, but essential features like bulk record updates make our day-to-day work easier. Cobalt has given us a well-rounded, adaptable system, backed by a dedicated team, which has made a real difference for us.

Pros

I've been through four AMS upgrades during my time with the Urgent Care Association, and Cobalt’s Engagement Dynamics has been the most efficient and flexible system we've used. With our previous AMS platforms, like YourMembership and NOAH, we had to rely heavily on support for any small changes or issues. However, with Cobalt, thanks to their in-depth training and the customizable nature of the system, we rarely need to reach out for support anymore. One of the standout features of Cobalt is its ability to track Account/Individual Membership, Certification, and Accreditation data all in one system. Finding a vendor that can handle all three without requiring an expensive, rigid, custom solution is rare. Cobalt’s out-of-the-box product met most of our needs, saving us time and money during the implementation. There were a few features missing when we first signed on, but Cobalt was responsive to our feedback and incorporated those features into a future release. For example, the addition of the universal cart has been a great enhancement for our users, allowing them to easily add event registrations, membership applications, and more, with appropriate pricing for members and nonmembers. The integration with Microsoft products like Outlook and Teams is seamless, and we’ve really taken advantage of this. It’s so helpful to see historic communication, notes, and emails tagged to a Contact or Account to get the full context of our customer relationship. We've also benefited from small but important features, like the ability to update multiple records at once and send checkout links that do not require a login for someone to pay for that cart or order. It may seem minor, but it has made a big difference in our daily operations and productivity. Overall, Cobalt has provided a robust, adaptable system backed by excellent support.

Cons

Occasionally, a minor detail might get overlooked or an important intricacy is missed in a routine task for us, which can require us to reach out to Cobalt for assistance to figure it out. While this can slow us down temporarily, we appreciate that the issues are usually small and that Cobalt’s Support team is responsive and quick to help. Their eagerness to resolve problems ensures we’re able to get back on track without much disruption.

The custom-built solution is perfectly tailored to our accreditation process, and the efficiency gains have been significant. Tasks that used to require a combination of custom software, manual tracking in Excel, and other third-party software are now managed seamlessly in one system. Having a system built on the Dynamics platform has flattened the learning curve for our internal staff to operate day-to-day, pull reports, and extract information, due to familiarity and comfortability with Microsoft’s suite of products. It is easier to integrate with other Microsoft applications and their built-in tools that allow us to customize the system to our specific needs. The flexibility of the annual report forms has been a huge benefit as well, allowing us to collect program data we need from accredited institutions. While there have been occasional minor issues when upgrades impact custom features, Cobalt’s quick and responsive support team consistently addresses these problems with minimal disruption. Their in-house Project Manager and support team provide personalized service, making us feel truly supported throughout the entire process. The support team also goes above and beyond to provide us with knowledge on how to find solutions on our own, empowering our team to resolve minor issues in-house. Overall, Cobalt has made our work more efficient and manageable, and their dedicated team ensures we always have the help we need.

Pros

Cobalt’s custom-built solution has been a game-changer for our accreditation body. The system is tailored to our exact accreditation process, and the efficiency gains have been significant. Before switching to Cobalt, we were using a mix of custom software and Excel spreadsheets to track key activities like site visits and evaluators. Now, everything is centralized, and the entire accreditation process is tracked in one place. We also really appreciate the flexibility of the annual report forms, which allow us to gather program data from accredited institutions. The support we receive is top-notch—quick, personalized responses from a team that includes both our dedicated Project Manager, Consultant, and Customer Success team. It feels like the whole team is working together to ensure we have the best experience possible.

Cons
