Overall, StartDate delivers on recruitment functions and provides reliable support, but it doesn’t always offer the level of efficiency or ease of use needed for larger or fast-paced teams. It’s a solid option for organizations starting to digitize their processes, though some improvements in functionality and user experience would make it far more effective.

Pros

The platform is fairly easy to navigate once you get used to it, and it centralizes multiple HR tasks in one place. The candidate tracking process provides useful visibility for hiring managers. And the customer support has been great, very responsive and even hands-on when it comes to training and brainstorming solutions.

Cons

Certain functions could be more streamlined. Reporting tools lack flexibility, and some processes require more manual work than expected. System integrations are not always seamless. Additionally, locating closed (but not expired) job postings can be cumbersome, as it requires manual searching rather than having them easily accessible in the history.

Overall, StartDate has made our recruitment function more efficiently and collaboratively. It is a strong, user-friendly ATS that supports effective recruiting. The customer service is outstanding and they respond very quickly to concerns or issues. We can't say enough about the support we have received over the years and we highly recommend this product.

Pros

We have been using StartDate for many years now, and it quickly became an indispensable part of our recruitment process. From its clean user interface to its thoughtfully designed features, StartDate streamlines every stage of talent acquisition. Our hiring managers and recruiters appreciate how easy it is to review candidates, schedule interviews and provide feedback - all in one place. We especially love that we can review candidate's resumes and rank the candidates, making it easier to identify who should proceed to the interview stage. Resume review is easy. One of the standout features is the customizable candidate pipeline, which allows us to tailor the hiring process to different roles and departments if needed. We love that you can customize screening questionnaires to attach to job postings, with the option to make those questions mandatory. We also love that they are continuously adding new features to make functionality better.

Cons

The main drawback is that StartDate currently does not offer direct integration with our ERP system. This means some manual work is required when it comes to syncing hiring data with our internal HR records.

My overall experience with StartDate has been positive. The platform makes it easy to create, edit, close, and re-post job applications, with convenient access to expired or closed listings. Useful features like customizable question formats and straightforward candidate management tools streamline the hiring process. However, the filter functions for identifying top candidates could be clearer and more effective across different roles and companies.

Pros

Easy to create, edit, close and re-post job applications. Jobs that are closed or expired are stored for easy access to data and prior listings. Useful features that allow you to create posting a question formats for a variety of job roles. These can be saved to be re-used again and again. Straight forward functions to move candidates through the vetting process.

Cons

Filter functions to bring best candidates to the top aren't the clearest and do not function well for all companies and job postings.

Excellent product, worth considering if you are shopping for a new ATS, your first ATS, or looking to save money.

Pros

Low cost, high customer support, not cumbersome and easy to use!

Cons

Basic - not a lot of extra functionality that you see in some of the higher end ATS's, does not link to our HRIS.

Pros

It is user-friendly for the most part and is easy to use with little instruction.

Cons

There are so many basics lacking with this software. Job postings don't have easily accessible job ID's. If you have multiple recruiters, there is no easy way to permanently filter to see just your postings. Takes several steps to do basic activities like send a rejection email to a candidate and then reject them. There are so many other options out there that this one just isn't worth it.

We are using it to funnel all of our resumes into one place for our Human Resource Department. Works very well for the purpose we use it for.

Pros

It is easy to sort through people who have applied for jobs. Very quick to post a new job. Nice that you can control the different level of access that different recruiters have

Cons

Dislike that we can only post a job in one location. When searching for an individuals name many times it will not consolidate all of the different jobs that one person has applied to, even if they have used the same email address. Can glitch when you try to add a note to a person.

HireGround's suite of products and staff are a local Calgary company that I would recommend to any company that is interested in purchasing an ATS and or a job board that yields many returns. As a native Calgarian I am always interested in supporting our local market and have utilized HireGround to thoroughly implement three ATS for Enerflex, Athabaskan Resource Company and Trican Well Service. When preparing a business proposal for all three of these former employers I had the pleasure and confidence that HireGround would not only exceed my expectations and budgetary considerations and the scope of our project recommending additional services and customizations for free and or at a nominal price. Secondly the HireGround team is proactive at producing new releases frequently, knowledgeable in the talent management arena, flexible and always available to listen and implement changes and most importantly customize fields that other vendors would not even consider. I would highly recommend HireGround and they will assist your company with maximum return on investment and man-hours immediately.
