Pros

It works well on 2D designs and is user friendly. I've enjoyed using it so far. It gives great detailing on patterns.

The only con I've found is that is crashes alot.

It has been good. When we first got the Software we had a long lost Patternsmith 2005 book that came with it. It is probably a long-shot, however, if there happens to be one of those old books in a dusty box some where at Autometrix we would be very interested in having one again.

Pros

We have found it to meet our needs. We still use the 2005 version and have never found a reason to upgrade. When we have periodically reviewed the features that the newer versions offer we have found the older version to be completely adequate and don't have a need for the upgrades.

Cons

We do most of our panel manipulation usinging Auto-Cad and MPanel so some of Patternsmith's way of selecting and right clicking is a bit awkward for us.

We're running and Autometrix table, and Patternsmith is the best tool that integrates seamlessly. When it works, it's very efficient. Once you get accustomed to the workarounds and establish a workflow, custom work can be drawn up very quickly. Customer service is outstanding.

Pros

The integration between the pattern editing and nesting is seamless. When it's dialed, it's very efficient. It runs on old computers because, well, it's pretty old. Customer service is awesome if you have a service contract.

Cons

Crashes frequently. No autosave function. When nesting a table, executing the undo command repeatedly explodes all the parts to random parts of the table you're working on, and sometimes replaces them with other random parts that weren't even in the table.... let's just say it has a revisionist approach to history. In 7.6, the labels for different nests magically trade places and generally pull random words from other nests, sometimes from other files altogether.

We have largely seen no benefit and frustrated the users who were accustomed to the earlier software

We reluctantly use this product only because the earlier Plotter Pilot has become unsupported

Cons

The downtime due to the software losing it's registration/unlock info at inopportune times

We use it daily. Overall it works well. We do run into glitches that we feel shouldn't happen, but PatternSmith seems open to working on them.

Pros

This is user friendly, offers many options.

Cons

Unfortunately there are random glitches. The base computer requirements have changed since the release.
