It is much easier than any of the products out there. My previous work place had one of the competitions and watching them struggle with learning program was horrifying. They had someone out for two weeks or more and we only had someone out 1day. I would pick Autometrix over any of the other brands out there. Pros It was semi easy, I had to have Autometrix walk me through some of the parts but after they did that I was good to go Cons Having to learn a new product, I am not computer literate sometimes Review Source AT Al T. Pros Once you spend a little time with the software, the workflow is easy to understand. Cons Sometime the software seems to be buggy and it's not always the same function. " June 27, 2017 5.0 Pros Pattern Smith has changed our whole operation. We can do more with less. The investment in Autometrix and Pattern Smith has proven itself an excellent decision in the growth of our little company. The time from concept to production has seen a huge drop in the first year. The software is easy to learn, start with the basics and expand every day. Cons Wish I had it years ago. There were a couple glitches early on that have all been solved. Pattern Smith is reliable; this program does not have bugs found in other programs. 2. It is very easy to use compared to other software. 3. 100% compatible with autometrix cutting machines. Pros with Pattern smith we have less of what we don't need and most of what we do need with out a lot of clutter. The functions that we use seem to be designed for the pattern that we need for our removable insulation covers. Cons some of the 3D programs could have more functions like a oblong to round saddle pattern and the nesting program could be included in package that comes along with the license. Cons There are a few bugs that need fixing, and the software crashes frequently. There has not been a new release in quite a few years. I've enjoyed using it so far. It gives great detailing on patterns. Cons The only con I've found is that is crashes alot. Design Engineer Oil & Energy Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Patternsmith Review" August 22, 2019 4.0 This software and cutting machine have greatly increased our production. We used to have to do all of the design by hand and this has drastically reduced out production times. Pros This software is very simple and easy to use. Everyone in our design team caught on very quickly and became proficient within a couple of days. Cons Being unable to make the same changes to every profile at once. We often need to add a 1" perimeter to every profile and to do this we must go into each profile to add the 1". August 25, 2017 4.0 It is easy to use. Pros What I like most is how easy it is to use. Having already used competitor's programs at other employers I found transitioning to PatternSmith was fairly easy to learn. The system is clean and straight to the point. Cons There are a few glitches but the one I dislike the most is the seam end tool is not consistent. If you need the cut edges to mirror each other it is best to convert the seams to elements. Pros The ability to store all of our ply patterns in one place makes it very easy to use for our ply cutting staff. It also nest the ply's with very little waste. Cons It does take some time to learn all the features that the software has to offer. But with some training it is easy enough to use. Review Source SN Scott N. Pros Importing of DXF files allow for a quick cut line identification. Nesting of parts is quick and easy. Cons Software continually has a "Not Responding" message that causes me start over if I'm not constantly saving data. Nesting of angled parts is sometimes frustrating when using the arrow keys to nest. For example, if I want the parts to go down and to the left, then the part may go down to the bottom, but it will slide up the adjacent angled when going to the left. August 18, 2017 3.0 It allows me to run the table. It is relatively easy to import images, all though it doesn't like ovals. Pros Relativly similar to other drawing software. I like the book is relatively easy to follow along in explanations. Cons No class's offered. The fact that I cant create different table widths, in the same fill. I wonder if there is a way to have pop up tutorials when you are in process of doing things, (IE- "To snap line do......."). Looking more like a current windows program. Previous versions looked out of date. Cons None of the commands follow other popular cad systems (autocad, draftsight etc..). Difficult to carry out simple commands like trim, extend. Software crashes regularly and freezes often especially when dealing with large/more complicated tables. When we first got the Software we had a long lost Patternsmith 2005 book that came with it. It is probably a long-shot, however, if there happens to be one of those old books in a dusty box some where at Autometrix we would be very interested in having one again. Pros We have found it to meet our needs. We still use the 2005 version and have never found a reason to upgrade. When we have periodically reviewed the features that the newer versions offer we have found the older version to be completely adequate and don't have a need for the upgrades. Cons We do most of our panel manipulation usinging Auto-Cad and MPanel so some of Patternsmith's way of selecting and right clicking is a bit awkward for us. Review Source TM Travis M. Pros Simple, easy to use interface. Nesting is pretty easy. I like using the trace feature to import patterns via photos. Cons It has been crashing more frequently on me lately. It doesn't tell me exactly why it crashes, but seems to happen when I am working with patterns that have a lot of points or bezier curves.
