I'm able to create exactly what I need quickly an with minimum fabric waste. It also allow me to integrate with outer sail producers to build what I design in their facility. Cons As a small business owner, my biggest complaint would be cost. However, I do get what I'm paying for. Reason for choosing PatternSmith Patternsmith was a whole step above Plotter Pilot. It lays are the parts very efficient Help over the phone if we are having issues. Downloading files to it. Cons The time it takes to get a software upgrade to fix issues. Cons The program does like to crash. It could use a marquee selection as well as more colors for reference to keep things straight although the addition of layers might solve this. August 17, 2017 5.0 We are still learning, both Pattern Smith and the cutting table are only 10 days old for us. We have never used a cutting table, everything has been hand cut. We have a TukaTech system for patterning that we have had for almost 10 years. Pros Everything is clear and understandable so instruction to staff was effective and achievable immediately. Cons It would be great of we did not have to go into every piece and change the color of the test, If the program could take the information that is labeled text and could convert that to the green. In some designs that we are running for full orders there are 1800 pieces that have be converted one at a time. Our small orders have about 325 pieces so even that is labor intensive. We benefit by being able to cut patterns. Pros It doesn't take very long to learn the basic commands to start designing flat patterns. Changes are also easy to make to subsequent revisions. Cons Some of the commands are backwards when compared to other programs. For example, the user has to hold the Control key to select multiple items instead of the Shift key. It is not as easy to draw or design as other CAD programs such as AutoCAD and Solidworks. Review Source JO Jean-Pierre O. Wish there were other options that worked with the vendors cutting table. Pros In house use with vendor cutting table capability Cons Pain to get a quality pattern without tons of time spent touching up afterward. Not much for options or tools. If we're not mistaken, you're actually using CadShot Mobile without PatternSmith in the process. This means the output of CadShot is a DXF file containing a polyline. Polylines are difficult to work with for sure - one of the reasons we've spent so much time making better tools inside of PatternSmith to help our customers clean them up into something editable and, ultimately, "cutable". We'd recommend finding some tool to help with final design from the polylines - if you're interested in seeing what PatternSmith does in conjunction with CadShot, let us know - software@autometrix.com TW Tim W. September 6, 2017 4.0 Pros Relatively easy to use and the editing tools cover the basis of what I need done in the product for our uses cases Cons Some of the features could be labeled better. August 18, 2017 4.0 We are using it solely to run the X5 cutting machine. Pros Are well suited for the kind of work that should be done. When you get used to it is easy and fast to work with. For sure it a great tool to realize patterns as it has many CAD features. Cons There are no shortcuts, that when you need to work very fast can be annoying. August 18, 2017 5.0 Pros What I like most is the ease of use. Everything is straight forward and easy to understand. I love that I can create any sort of pattern I need in a fraction of the time that I used to do by hand. Pros It was easy to learn the basics, so now it's just a matter of fine tuning my understanding of the software to achieve what our company's goals are.
