Pros

At this point, Destiny is ubiquitous in the school library world. It's a mature product that has deeply delved into its niche. It incorporates discovery of physical and digital collections in a way that's truly accessible to younger students. That's where it excels- there's a handful of good integrated library systems out there, but very few have so effectively zeroed in on the younger audience. When teaching children to learn to research, you need the right tool if they're going to have success, and this is it.

Cons

It could be less expensive, or, at least, the pricing could be more transparent.

Reason for choosing Follett Destiny Library Manager

Better fit for the elementary school environment.

We get great benefits for little cost.

Pros

I enjoy how budget friendly the software is, and it is easy for students to use. I also like how the cloud system updates itself.

Cons

I would like the website to be a bit more visually pleasing to students. Most of my students use the basic functions, and it does not look as flashy as other sites.

It was the one in place when I started work here. I would not have chosen this software.

Pros

about the only thing that I have found to be above average at all is the ability to include searches to other subscriptions within the interface

Cons

Way to many functions require too many 'manual' steps. Media Specialists / Librarians should not have to have the amount of technical knowledge that it takes to perform basic functions.

We have been using Destiny for 8 years now and find it very user friendly. Staff training is very hands on. Follett is open to suggestions for updates.

It enables the search for books and resources in the library easier and faster. It is also organize and user-friendly.

Cons

So far, the only thing I least like with Destiny is that some times, the server is down but other than this, it's all good.

It's very easy to access because it's web based. Aside from that it has the application that we can download through our gadgets to access our collections in the library. And also it has so many resources that are scholarly made and very interesting. It has a titlepeek which makes our searching easy because the title page is given.

For the database that it holds, it is quite a resource hungry system. Based on a Microsoft SQL server, it lacks the agility of some of the Linux based systems. The managed hosting on Follett's cloud servers tends to have lags which might interfere with day-to-day workflow of the librarians.

It's not the best but it's effective. Among all the LMS, Destiny is the one I prefer. It may not be the best but it answers the needs of the daily operation in the library.
