For the money, TrakStar meets my needs.

Pros

I have confidence in TrakStar and am happy with the customer support I have received. My managers have no problem accessing information and are happy with the review process.

Cons

I would like to have the abiity to write reports. I wish the org chart was more user friendly - for me it isn't really usable.

Excellent! The ability to customize goals, factors and ratings is designed well.

Pros

\-The software program is very "user friendly." Our employees were able to "go live" with minimal training. -I decided to go with this performance management tool because of the unique ability to tailor it to our position-specific needs. It provides a common structure yet allows the competency design-differentiation necessary in each of our four distinctly different business units. -We have adopted this system at both exempt and non-exempt levels. -The program is not intimidating to those employees with little computer experience. Going live with TrackStar has actually helped some of our mature managers gain computer skills. -TrackStar technical support has never failed to respond when we needed them. -I researched and priced several other popular computer-based performance appraisal products, and undoubtedly, TrackStar is the most economical. We saved thousands of dollars going with TrackStar and are very happy with the system.

Cons

On occasion, the system has been slow due to heavy traffic. Lately we haven't had this problem. I think upgrades for capacity are managed pretty well now.

The implementation process was a bit lengthy in the beginning but this has turned out to be the perfect platform for our firm. The system is easy to use. The ability to customize the software to meet our needs has been a big plus. Customer support has always been very responsive and helpful. We are very happy with Trakstar!

### "2018 Review - Consultant perspective "

Implemented Trakstar as a Consultant across 2 companies with very different use-cases - interesting experience in getting 2 work with 2 firms where I play very different roles (Firm 1: acting as Administrator and Manager - latter of which necessitates a lot of changes as I cannot be the de facto Manager; Firm 2: there will be Managers taking over the actual role, Goals and Notes will be used, etc.)

Pros

Flexibility to be rolled out for HR internal and consultants working on Human Capital initiative Pricing model when considering getting multi-rater feedback from external sources Mix between preset competencies and allowance to customize Relatively user-friendly compared to other products Flexibility in turning on/off features My rep and the experience of the support team

Cons

a lot of hidden layers in compiling review forms the initial set up where nobody talks to you before you upload that excel spreadsheet outlining the cohort groups - this was confusing at best and was the first touch-point with Trakstar - even if you attach a quick recording being a bit more granular on what is required there lack of easy tracking capabilities of people completing reviews (as you get close to deadline and need to cat-herd individuals) reporting is bit complex (that could just be me though) would be great to get some guidance on resourcing this platform for perhaps a few different use cases

We haven't had the best experience. Customer service isn't really easily accessible, everything is learn--on-your-own and when the system was updated, we lost a lot of dated information about the usage of our system, which was critical. We are still under-utilizing it and it's extremely hard to navigate.

Pros

All in one place.

Cons

No personal customer service - always on the phone and remotely located. Also seems to offer features we don't know how to use, often has errors (dates are wrong) and it's not easy to make changes.

### "Simple, not overly-complicated interface, encourages participation"

Easy and fun to use, encourages MUCH more participation than any previous appraisal software I have used (which is usually associated with dread).

Pros

This software encourages you to input updates on your progress every month. This is an EXTREMELY valuable reminder because then you aren't racking your brain at the end of the year trying to remember your accomplishments. You can keep track of them year-round, and when your appraisal is due, the hard part is pretty much done. This helped a lot even for my 90-day appraisal. It breaks everything out among several competencies and it is a very user-friendly, dynamic interface that is kinda fun to use.

Cons

To be honest I cannot think of any criticism for this software.

### "Easy-to-use Performance Tracking Software"

Trakstar has been a very easy to use and interactive performance software. As a regular user (non-manager), I find it comprehensive enough to track all my goals and tasks but simple enough to update on an ongoing basis. My favorite aspect is the notes feature, which lets me add notes to my goals at any time, so that when I do my review at the end of the year I already have notes to reference. I can also share my notes with my manager, so she can see my progress.

Pros

very user friendly, lots of features, interactive feedback - can take notes on tasks at any time that can be shared with managers, can keep track of progress on goals in real time

Cons

sometimes while updating notes/goals the appraisal doesn't update immediately, but after logging out and back in again everything was correct

I have been utilizing Trakstar for the past 5 years and as an organization we have grown that this tool just seems to get better & better. I can't imagine having to do paper performance appraisals ever again. I love the notes taking feature (which we use year round) and the flexibility to design your own form, rating scale and approval paths.

Pros

Easy to use (administratively and as a user).

Cons

Reporting could be a bit better, but it meets the needs.

We are just implementing Trakstar now so I have limited hands on experience with the product aside from uploading our users and having an initial 'play' in the system while we develop job descriptions and template plans etc. So far I am really enjoying the library of competencies which will help us develop our plans. I also am finding the set up of the email alerts etc. Being able to set up a template for a particular position is invaluable in our business but obviously the need to tailor is important and driven off coaching conversations. Trakstar is allowing us both the structure and the freedom to tailor which is great. If there could be the ability to tailor for each employee reminders for the managers that would be great. For example if we have an employee who requires fortnightly catch ups then being able to set up a reminder for that compared to his/her peer in the same 'position' but who needs only quarterly catch ups.

Some of the pros include more efficiency in the overall assessment process, greater control and oversight from HR, enhanced reporting features, ease of use, and electronic storage of historical data. A con would be the need for enhancements to some of the administrator's functions. It would be a great enhancement for the administrator to be able to select an employee's name from the Appraisal icon and then see the appraisal currently being scored. Also, when running a rater bias report you can see the scores for all direct reports to a supervisor, but when you select 'View Appraisal' it only provides a blank copy of the appraisal without notes or scores. Another con is when an approver declines an assessment the programs requests a note and then the note is then placed in the 'Send for Approval' section. The note would be more easily found if it was viewable when entering the Workshop screen. Overall, we have been very pleased with the Trakstar program, but additional enhancements are always welcomed.

### "Getting to a higher level with Trakstar!"

We have been working with Trakstar for a few months now. In this first period, we ran a first cycle of appraisals. All went very well and on the moments we needed help our consultant was always there to help. The software is easy to use and our users are very fond of the possibilities. The scoring of the appraisals went smoothly and I, as an admin, was able to pitch in where needed to help and guide an appraisal through the system. We are however still struggling a bit with the process of adding personal goals in relations to the bigger organizational strategic targets; that process and the follow up of those personal goals could be made a little easier for the user. Next to that it would also be great if we could allow our users to see the (anonymous) feedback they've received in their own account. Long story short; Good software, great costumer service and still some room for improvement to stay on top of the game!

### "Great customer service"

Great customer service through live demo to implementation and going live in Trakstar. Deadlines given were met and when a last minute change after going live was needed, customer service was able to get the mass edit uploaded before the time we were originally told so we were able to get back on track quicker than expected. That was greatly appreciated!

Pros

Easy to use, great format that is familiar to most everyone due to social media, employee folder having the ability to contain a multitude of uploaded files including past reviews prior to the electronic system.

Cons

Employee acknowledgement of appraisal does not actually show an electronic signature on the printed appraisal so unless the employee manually signs the appraisal it is difficult to show an employee acknowledged their appraisal for HR documentation purposes.

Pros

We used Trakstar for performance appraisal/reviews at my last company. It was very easy to use and painless for employees to submit their appraisals.

Cons

I'm not sure whether this was a setting that could be edited, but they sent out way too many emails to remind users to fill out their appraisals. I assume this could be changed, but the frequency was cumbersome in terms of cluttering up the inbox.

The employees complain about performance management; but not about trakstar. I always separate the two. They like trakstar. I do a training called "Tips for Better Appraisals" and integrate the use of trakstar into it and how easy it is to ensure that you will get an excellent review if you utilize the great features availble in trakstar such as the notes and goal tracking.

Pros

Ease of use; customer service. The set-up is extremely easy; changing forms is easy.

Cons

Extra cost for the added features - succession planning

Wow! Not sure where to begin.....From training all the way to day-to-day usage, our experience has been smooth & seamless. Our trainer, Kalley Anderson was awesome! She was very knowledgeable of the product, she delivered the information in a simplistic manner, and equipped my manager and I with all we needed to use this product with finesse on a daily basis. In the few instances where I've needed to contact your support team, their response time was an issue and even then a quick email to Kalley gave me the urgent answer I needed quicker than your support team could provide it. Overall, I love this product and your staff has been amazing!!! Note.....customer service rating above should have been 4 stars due to delayed wait times from your support team/help desk but I scored you 5-stars because Kalley stood in the gap for your support team and made it happen!!!

### "Easy to use performance management system"

Overall, I think it's a great system and so much better than the one we had before. As mentioned, it's easy to use and to navigate, and the customer service team is very quick to respond to any questions. As an administrator, I love being able to log in as others in order to see what they're seeing - it makes my life easier.

Pros

The best feature about this software is its ease of use. A few of our employees aren't very technologically-minded, and they have no problem navigating the system and completing their reviews. It's simple and straightforward and offers a lot of flexibility.

Cons

We're just starting to use the Goals portion of the software, and, as a company, we're a bit on the conservative side, and we'd rather not have the employees be able to create their own measurements. It's great to have that feature, but there should also be a way to turn it off if we don't want it.

Pros: The Trakstar system is an excellent user-friendly, cost-conscious, evaluation system. The software is extremely easy to navigate, both from an administrator and user perspective. The support training videos and learning bytes are excellent resources for administrators and users. Cons: Export of organizational charts, all or nothing contributor option, retention of historical approval/rejection comments, and the lack of an option to capture all goals entered by all Supervisors and Employees for the current evaluation period

It's a hard technical problem to solve with large organizations - big org charts, fonts too small and a printable page. Pros

I love that the accountability of my performance is in my hands - I can leave notes about wins I've had throughout the year to give my supervisor a look at my accomplishments. It makes reviewing a year more memorable rather than trying to remember how I contributed. It's also a win for company morale to be able to give and receive notes for other associates to describe a job well done that both that person and their supervisor can see.

I haven't run into anything so far that I like the least!

Pros

I like how it saves all my work. I've had a few times where my computer crashed, but I always come back to all my information. User interface is nice and it's pretty easy to learn.

Cons

I wish there was a bit more customization from a user standpoint. Set up was a bit time consuming too. Overall, I'm excited to have Trakstar at my company.
