I would highly recommend TrakStar for any company's online appraisal system.

Pros

We have approximately 350 employees and started using TrakStar in the 4th quarter of 2008. We wanted to have the system up and running in approximately 3 weeks. The team did everything we asked and we successfully launched TrakStar within that time frame. I have found everyone to be extremely helpful and attentive to our needs. The system is very user friendly and we have had very positive feedback from our users, both employee and manager, in navigating the system. My biggest compliment to TrakStar is how customizable it is to our business. Everything we could hope for in an online appraisal system, we have found in TrakStar.

Cons

TrakStar is very user friendly for employees and managers, however, as the HR "power user" it can be a little tricky. But the TrakStar team is always available to help and get things resolved quickly.

I highly recommend use of TrakStar to evaluate employee performance. TrakStar has transformed the way OASHF assists with and meets the needs of its employees!

Pros

TrakStar will provide everything you are looking for in an employee performance appraisal system. The web platform provides the ability to customize position descriptions, create customized factors for positions and even includes a multi-rater function. TrakStar took our employee performance plans from paper format to a total electronic system that includes feedback from the employee, manager, and anyone else that is needed to appraise the employee. One function enables you to send rating requests to external customers, another enables you compare employee performance, and another enables the manager to provide coaching tips to the employee for them to be able to improve upon certain factors or goals!

Cons

None! I have experienced no issues in working with TrakStar!

Pros

Ease of having an electronic system. Very user friendly for Management. We are able to track outstanding appraisals and make sure they are being presented in a timely manner.

Cons

The process of building out the appraisals took awhile. Trakstar provided great material to help. Once appraisals were build, the process from there went very smooth.

I recently sent a file containing data for 76 new employees who we added to our staff as a result of a merger. This file was uploaded in a very timely manner, and the TrakStar system was available to the new users the next day. TrakStar is easy to implement and very user friendly. As the corporate trainer, all I have to do is send new employees an email with instructions that include a "cheat sheet" for logging on and entering and appraisal, and our scoring guide. We have been using it for almost two years and the transition from handwritten appraisal forms has been very smooth. Whenever I need support, the TrakStar support team is readily available, and always responds quickly. I recommend TrakStar for anyone who is looking for a fast and easy way to transition from a manual appraisal process to an online process.

Trakstar has allowed us to automate our annual performance appraisal process which was previously manually executed. It provides us with enormous flexibility to continually custom-design our metrics to match the culture and dynamics of our diverse workforce. Trakstar has proven itself to be user friendly software for our Employees as well as for the "Trakstar Managers" who are responsible for creating appraisals of their employees. The home page dashboard is intuitively designed and navigation throughout the functions is self-explanatory. Trakstar has improved our on-time delivery of performance reviews which has resulted in a positive impact to on-time merit pay increases. That has been a notable employee satisfier. As our employees master our current appraisal format we look forward to enhancing the appraisal experience by adding additional features such as the Multi-Rater function. We know ongoing enhancements and adjustments will occur seamlessly based on the prompt and responsive customer service we have become accustomed to from the Trakstar Support team and in particular, from Renee Kunce.

Measuring performance evenly and concretely for all our employees.

Pros

Customer service! Their CS representatives always resolve any issues that we experience and take the time to provide instruction on how to utilize Trakstar better. Trakstar offers flexibility. When employee changes occur, you can easily make the changes and begin the appraisal process of new hire at any point during the year.

Cons

It is practical but getting the set up started was the most difficult part. However, Trakstar was there to assist in the setup all the way.

Transitioning our organization from an Excel-based, manual system to Trakstar was a great decision that has produced great results. It allows us to get much more detailed feedback, greater consistency across the organization, and a standardized schedule for appraisals. We've tested and used other systems costing significantly more per employee that produced no better results. Pros: Excellent process automation, customizable reminder emails, ability to clearly define scores, outstanding and fast-responding customer service. Cons: Multiple ways to accomplish certain tasks can be confusing (e.g. goals), sometimes slow page loading times, slightly unrefined UI

I moved from a "normal" user to an administrative user and Trakstar has been amazing! It is very simple to explain to new hires, and with the videos and documentation available, navigating through the site is a breeze.

Pros

I actually like the majority of the features. I think that others being able to leave comments on your work is very helpful come review time; it makes what you are saying to your performance stronger. Another thing I like is how you can group topics together and write a reflection, but then not post it until you're ready to - very convenient!

Cons

When I wrote my first reflection, I had a little trouble in posting a reflection when I only wanted to take a note. Once I figured out how to do it correctly, it was no problem. If there were more detailed instructions on the difference between the two, that would be helpful.

I consider the decision to partner with TrakStar/Promantek one of the best decisions I have made since coming to work for the Tribe! I recommend it highly to anyone.

Pros

Performance appraisal has never been one of our supervisors' favorite tasks, but since implementing TrakStar in March, I am actually being told that the job is far easier, and, as a direct result, I'm seeing much higher completion rates. Supervisors and employees alike are telling me that they love the Notes function.

Cons

None worth mentioning. The only complaint I have had is that we have a handful of employees who either don't have access to a computer or are terrified of computers. We've designed work-arounds for the first group, but for the second group we've had to print out the appraisal form and let them complete them manually. This second group might include about four individuals, so even this isn't a big deal.

Since my introduction as both an Administrator and a User, Trakstar is too cumbersome and too restrictive. Having to identify dates, archive, and tie to the competencies that are already that are too cumbersome. We have made it work, but I will change products as soon as we choose to afford it.

Pros

Fairly easy once you know what you're doing.

Cons

Not much. It is easy to self score.

Pros: Easy to use and set up appraisals. There are great options to customize the appraisal to fit an employer's culture and workforce. We were able to customize appraisals for faculty, supervisors and non-supervisory staff. Any concerns or questions were responded by Kalley Anderson promptly. In addition, there are options either within Trakstar for help employees, as well as from the support website for employees, managers, and administrators to refer to based on topic or action. I appreciate that with my busy schedule, I am not always available to participate in the webinars and they become available later to access based on my schedule. We just purchased the option for single sign on capability and it is working well. Employees don't have to remember one more password. Cons: It is treated as a separate system as it does not interface with our employee database to eliminate additional data entry. Thank you.

Overall, the program does what it is intended to do. It is a good review tracking software. Administrators should have access to far more information without having to login as users. Would be much easier if we could see actual reviews from administrator screens. Approves should be able to make very minor changes to reviews without kicking them back to prior level of reviewer (i.e. shouldn't have to send a review back to fix a simple typo).

Overall, the experience has been very positive. Received positive feedback from employees and managers as it relates to ease of use.

Pros

Ability to set goals, and define what is important for our organization as it relates to the performance management process.

Cons

Would like to see a feature, similar to docu-sign. Once the manager reviews with the employee, send to the employee the review via docu-sign to secure both signatures for the employee file.

Pros

It's an easy and intuitive platform from setting up to implementing and training others to utilize.

Cons

Keeping up with the upgrades can be challenging. However, Trakstar does their job of notification and preparatory work.

Very user friendly. Occasionally things get annoying, like the pop-up video every time you login lately, that says "Welcome to Trakstar's New Look", but it's a minor complaint.

Pros

Anything I want to do, I can usually do.

Cons

Ad hoc reviews- it automatically sets the dates for a 3-day review period and I have to fix it every time.

The implementation, training and integration process was very simple! The system is easy to use, both on a user side and administrative side.

Pros

The ease of use. Many of our employees do not use computers on a regular basis and often complain about new programs. We had many compliments on the ease of use of Trakstar. The note taking option is a great feature.

Cons

Only formal reviews. We did an informal review, but there was no real ability to track the review.

Pros

TrakStar is good for our semiannually Employee Reviews. I am able to upload documents or screenshots to each employee's individual profile. I can leave comments for my managers to see privately without the employee seeing.

Cons

I wish there was a better tool for biweekly 1-on-1s. Sort of like a questionnaire I can send out each week to get feedback. It's not the easiest software to navigate either.

Trakstar has helped streamline our performance review process and provided an opportunity to rethink our evaluation structure. Trakstar has excellent customer service and make it easy to go live. It has been an enjoyable process and now our reviews are less burdensome for the supervisors and HR department.

Pros

Easy access from anywhere, ease of making adjustment or changes, incorporating organizational goals, employee input, on-going feedback, pricing is reasonable, access to training videos...

Cons

It will be nice if additional components are options such as compensation manager, tracking applications, those are what I can think of off the top of my head.

Moving our annual appraisals to Trakstar has brought us to nearly 100% compliance. Prior to Trakstar we had paper appraisals that rarely got completed and were nearly impossible to track. This is incredibly valuable to our employees.

Pros

Has helped us evaluate staff on their competencies. It has built in email reminders that are incredibly useful. Overall has a good flow that people can easily follow.

Cons

Not always intuitive for the end user. I've also accidently deleted an appraisal and there is no way to "undo" or retrieve it.

This is the first time using an online performance management software. It has changed the way reviews are done and has made it much more streamlined and user friendly. It also gives us more and more accurate reporting capabilities.

Pros

It's very user friendly for the most part. I havent been asked many questions about how to do things but we also put together our own training guides.

Cons

If you do more than one annual review a year it can cause some annoyances. For example, we have annual reviews open in addition to some 90 days and we had to create specific reports since the scores were being integrated. It's difficult to do anything outside of the structured process that is already setup. There is no way to export reports, just print. I also dont see a report that just lists name and final score next to it.

The ability to customize. We have a portion of all performance evaluations the same for all positions and then we customize the other portion to fit the position and the department in which it is.

Cons

I don't have anything I can think of to share. The implementation schedule was set but also allowed some work at your own pace items.

Process for addressing change in managers and/or positions easy to do. Well defined objectives help standardize supervisory ratings, Customizable to fit department/position needs Electronic routing between employee, supervisor and manager Spellcheck (Yes, yes, yes!) Cons - Database of competencies not as extensive as it first appears, as a result initial setup can be time consuming. System contains some quirks that are random and at times hard to understand
