Pros

I like that Salon Iris has an app that the stylists could use and book from their phones. And they could room reports from their phones, too without blocking up the salon computer.

Cons

I didn't like that the stylists couldn't book for other stylists from their app. Example: if a family comes in and splits between 2 stylists, they couldn't call 1 stylists to book the 2+ services. They'd have to call both

Overall, my experience has been very positive. The system is easy to use, reliable, and helps me manage appointments, clients, and daily tasks efficiently. It saves time, keeps my schedule organized, and supports the growth of my business.

Pros

I really like how easy and user-friendly DaySmart Salon is. The learning curve is very simple, so it didn’t take long to get comfortable with the system. Cons

### "Just Don’t Do It"

I used to “tolerate” them because they used to have good support. Now They don’t give a crap. The message on phone says we switched to fast efficient online support because it’s going to be faster and more efficient for you. It’s absurd. I am mad.

Pros

That you used to be able to talk to a human.

Cons

Support is horrific - they left me down and stranded for over a week with chat support not having a clue. Slow. Doesn’t integrate with accounting software unless you PAY MORE Access to app for employees yup. PAY MORE For each one. The cloud version is horrific and doesn’t work at all. Want to use your lap top at home to do some accounting. Nope. You have to buy a second version so PAY MORE Oh and the second license is ALWAYS down and never ever works. So it’s completely unreliable and a waste of money! This software has potential. But your pay a fortune and it doesn’t do anything more then acuity. In fact Acuity gives you unlimited everything for $17 a month and integrates with everything without having to pay. I am paying almost $500 Canadian a month. To date I have not switched because it’s a huge job. But now that you cannot get support and they have no issue leaving you high and dry. I am out.

i like that everything is in one place. my webiste, products, services, gift certificates, processing fees everything in 1 spot 1 simple payment. Day smart has changed my life for the better.

i wish there was a spot that you could block out for clean up time. I know theres a spot for processing ad finnishing but thats more hair dresser lingo. I am an esthetician and i love to block off time to clean my room up between clients or have a break. this would help my business so much

### "Manage your business all in one place "

Great, been using it for 9 years now. The salon I started at had it and when I went out on my own, I was able to transfer all the client information to my new account.

Pros

It is user friendly and all of my business is handled in the app from marketing, scheduling to inventory.

Cons

Texting feature, when I click on it, I wish I could text through my phone and not the app. It would be more streamlined

It’s really just been fantastic. It doesn’t matter if I’m on a vacation on a boat in the middle of a Lake and a client messages me, I can still easily and quickly book them appointment!

Pros

The DaySmart Salon app was a game changer for me and our Salon. Before we had a paper schedule and you had to physically be in the salon to book appointments or call the salon and interrupt a coworker (not great!). it was very easy to quickly navigate the app. We haven’t had any security issues. We pay once a year for the use the value for the ease of being able to book from anywhere is fantastic. It’s also awesome. You can make notes of what products your clients have purchased in the past so there’s no second-guessing a purchase. There is just so many great options with this app. it’s also great for clients who are booking appointments with multiple people you can look at just your schedule or select individuals schedules or everyone’s schedule.

Cons

I honestly can’t think of any bad things about this app. every once in a while, the system is down, but it always gets quickly resolved from what I’ve experienced.

If there is a problem it’s hard to get a live person on the phone also, wish there was an easier way to put our services in for our appointments

Throw away those smudgy appointment books and messy scratch-outs and hard to read re-writes. Perfection!

Pros

The learning curve was sooo quick. My clients all commented how much they appreciated the reminders and the ease of rescheduling was probably the most enjoyable. Also love the color identification of services and ability to book a whole year in a few seconds. The cost per month is very affordable.

Cons

I have absolutely zero cons and have been using this app for over a decade. I can book my clients for a year in advance in just seconds. Love it!

I’ve been using it for 13 years since it was salon iris! I am very comfortable and familiar with it. And I have used it from a stylist perspective, a salon owner perspective, and as a receptionist. And it is very easy to use.

Pros

Very easy and user friendly! I’ve been using the app for most of my career and I have no complaints.

Nothing really. Maybe just able to see a full weeks schedule in one viewing on iPhone. Instead of 3 days

Pros

I have been a customer for both of my business for years I find easy to use and I really hike the conscience of my mobile app

Cons

With anything there are glitches , I have had some issues with my confirming appointments via apt reminders as texts . My biggest complaint is there is NO way to call and get to a live person! I constantly experience issues with my cc flex machine not completing the transaction, which in turn for my clients that relay in using credit to pay for their services are not able cause of me to loose revenue for that day because now I have to wait to run the card or they pay in their next visit! I have multiple tickets open for this reason! I am considering changing my credit card processing if this can not get resolved because it is not reliable it is has been months this problem persist still.

2 items l don't like 1- no deposit money on weekends couse some problem for my slow salon . 2- the receipt doesn't show the details for clients .spacialy when they pay cadh wr can not prjint the receipt.

Overall we have been happy with the software and hope to continue the relationship for a long time.

Pros

It is fairly easy to use. It is nice adding promotion codes to apply discounts automatically. Review management is pretty good, still a bit on the fence about it. two-way texting is also very convenient.

Cons

While there are a lot of reports, there are some limitations to them as well. When checking out, currently tips are not split and need to be manually done. and when doing so, it does not show the original tip amount. For example, if the tip was $22.50, as soon as you start changing it, the original tip amount is gone and the tech needs to remember what it was and do the math to adjust the tips accordingly. Also, tips can not be adjusted after the transaction is complete without voiding the transaction. No support on weekends has been a little challenging, especially early on in our implementation.

So far I am disappointed and hope that something comes to market with the features I need because this one is just in need of too many improvements

Pros

I like that the system allows booth renters to receive their funds directly and commissioned service providers can remain on a separate payroll. Not easy to set this up, but this was the only software/ POS system I could find that had this capability. This is important because it allows consistency in my shop and all customers can check out in one place.

Cons

There are so many things I don't like about this software; if another system becomes available that allows booth renters to be paid direct while commission employees to be paid through the shop payroll and has the other features I need, I will be switching again. Don't like: 1- phone/iPad app doesn't allow alot of important features that are only available on the desktop version 2- the system is slow and lags a lot 3- payroll is not included and you must pay a separate payroll provider (such as gusto or paychex etc) 4- System is expensive for what you get- on top of the monthly software cost, you need to pay a separate payroll provider and you have to rent or buy a credit card machine ($30 a month rental on top of the already expensive costs) 5- set up was difficult and you get very minimal help with it 6- there are too many separate departments, making it difficult to problem solve (ie. merchant processing is totally separate from the POS/software and communication between departs is awful) 7- bad communication- ordered a card reader, it was awful and didn't work, the new one was supposed to arrive weeks ago and we still haven't received it. If we didn't call, they would never keep us in the loop). 8- if you are not tech savvy you will have trouble learning this system- interfaces are so different from tablet to desktop and there are too many moving parts. This system has the potential t be good, but has a LONG way to go

Overall happy with software, would just like to see more capabilities after 8 years with company that fit the needs of day Spa business. We had trialed Meevo during and they had some great features, overall our experience was terrible with them, but some cool features they had were front desk profit focused. As example, pop ups for services notes about service to ask client when booking, service suggestion for similar services when booking one to suggest others. Product recommendation based on past purchases.

Pros

VIP support moreso when we were desktop version and dealing with \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] was amazing! Many thanks to her! The working and self diagnosis of problems is easy with this system.

Cons

Now being cloud based definitely want to see memberships updated so when a failed payment, you can make the payment and not have to cancel member and restart, have had many issues with that since moving from desktop. Also had to found a work around to let us make membership purchase, to be "until canceled" we have to first click end date then click back to until canceled and then it works. Would like to again see the ability to add a prepaid service on an account like we could in desktop. Would also like to be able to change client name on a ticket as we were able to "change client" on ticket in desktop version. For tickets, it would be helpful to have more edit capability once they are closed, to edit service/professional/payment and change/and do partial refund. For gift cards would like to see ability to auto populate a number. For reporting, sales totals for each employee for a week would love the ability to "copy" a table like desktop version instead of having to download and upload as we utilize Google sheets and not Excel. Online giftcar would love to be able to offer promotions and not have to pay a third party for to offer things like, buy $100 get $25 for free. I've sent quite a few things through to support already to ask for feature requests. One last one off too if my head is for text marketing when making a one time campaign, to send out for last minute opening deal to be able to just send "now" or immediately I stead of having to choose the next hour.

It is helpful for accounting, payroll, managements, and makes running a spa so much easier. It saves time with client confirmations, appointment changes and cancellations. I can look back on sales and see all the important data that I need I need to use for improvements.

Pros

How easy it is to run, viewing reports, appointment scheduling, accounting. Has everything I need to stay organized.

Cons

What I like least is just what the clients experiences through trying to book multiple services or add ons. I wish there was a way to separate categories on the booking website into their own drop down menus as well as group/ couples online booking.

### "Best app ever for salons"

Besides the user-friendly, it has so many things to choose from. For example, inventory payroll time clock. I especially like that each individual service has its own color so I can see in a glance. Oh I have three colors and three cuts. I love that part. I had this many years ago sold that business got a new business years later and found that I wanted an appointment app. I tried others because this one was under a different name. I had a hard time finding it after. I did find it a couple years later I was not sorry that I went back.

Pros

Very user friendly. Customer support has been awesome. I especially love the different colored services so at a glance, you can just know what services you have.

Cons

My mobile app on our phones lag. I did have quite a bit of problems hooking up the credit card company that they use. I got it worked out, but I can’t use it on my iPad. I have to use my phone so that we gotta swap over that’s a little annoying.

I have been using the software for almost 6 years and it’s the best one I have used. I wouldn’t recommend anything else

Pros

I very much enjoy the software, it’s very easy to use. The appointment bookings are what you make it for time management which is awesome because some softwares can’t be altered for time. It keeps track of daily weekly and monthly reports. I love it!

Cons

I have yet to come across something I don’t like with Dayasmart everything I have encountered I was able to reach someone on the tech side for help

Your customer service is not priority. You can’t even call anymore. You have to email. Customer service has been outsourced and you have to wait to hear back from an email a day later or so. When you do finally get an email back, they ask you what the problem is. So then I tell them why don’t you look at my prior email and see what I told you. And then you have to wait another day or two for an email back. Really? Customer service is your priority? What a bunch of bull crap!!!

Pros

Their app is really good. More efficient than the cloud based version of the software.

Cons

Low quality care now!!! I’ve lost tons of money with my online gift cards because Daysmart hasn’t coded in an apostrophe. So like if someone puts in the message for the gift card, happy Mother’s Day…. See how the word mothers has an apostrophe? if your customer puts an apostrophe in the message, it tells them there’s been an error. So then the customer automatically thinks well I must’ve put my credit card in wrong so they go back and do that over again and then it keeps coming up error because there’s an apostrophe put in the message! I asked the company kindly to please code in an apostrophe!!You can put in an explanation or a period but you can’t put in an apostrophe. Why not! ? That’s been going on for years! So what happens in the end is that because someone can’t get through to get a gift card, they go to another place and buy a gift card!! Losing me money! And all over an apostrophe!! if you have DaySmart, try buying a gift card and put in the message. Happy Mother’s Day or a happy Father’s Day and see the error warning come up.!! They don’t even put a note saying don’t use these symbols. The customer just gets confused. And then they move onto the next place!! so stupid! I’m moving onto Meevo! Much much better software!! I’m in the middle of training now and already can see a huge difference. And it’s the same price!

### "Simple to use out of the box....but"

unfortunately customer service falls very short. it is generally 45min-90min wait. or they can call you back at a callback number, and sometimes that has taken 3-5 hours. and as mentioned, they're good for just giving you a tutorial on how to do something, but if something is broken, dont expect it to ever get fixed, or for them to ever give you an update. if they say theyll follow up, they never will.

Pros

Inexpensive, with a lot of features, and very simple to use. Also has an app as well, which a lot of times is better than the web application. text message notifications and communications both on the web and on the app are great. client support is good if you just need a tutorial on how to do something.

Cons

drastic inconsistencies in functionality of the app vs the web client. a lot of times the app has more functionality, which is odd. very limited in reporting. no customizable reports. cannot run a basic report of my clients appointments. cannot run a basic report of who have outstanding prepaid services or packages, so i just have to guess which clients have outstanding treatments and look up their profiles one by one. and they claimed they had no back end way to pull that information either, which i find difficult to imagine. a database must exist for this system to exist, and it would be next to impossible that they cannot query information from that database. so they basically just don't want to. and client support is useless when it comes to an issue. had many of these instances, but the most recent was the final straw, whne my app could not schedule an appointment, add to an appointment, or change an appointment for over 12 months. seems like a pretty major issue. i had to open 6 tickets with them over the course of 12 months, and i never received a single email, phone call, or update in that 12 month period. they said they couldn't recreate the issue so they dropped it. didn't provide any updates to me or even tell me they dropped it or tried to troubleshoot with me. 12 months is a long time for a scheduling app not to be able to schedule an appointment.

Reason for choosing DaySmart Salon

simple to use out of the box without being overly complicated, and had a good amount of features. good software if you're just a user and don't need to do any analysis or any more than just your total sales.

Overall, I am satisfied. The staff has been warm and welcoming. The system has been overall easy to navigate.

Pros

I love the customer service and email support. Whenever there has been a problem or server connection error they have done well at resolving the issues. Everyone is always extremeley professional.

Cons

Sometimes guests get a little confused with the drop down menu, if there is a way to showcase a description of each service on the booking link that would be great. At times it is very hard to get ahold of someone over the phone. At some points it took weeks to get issues resolved causing my guests to get double charged multiple times.

Reason for choosing DaySmart Salon

I used prior at my other salon for years.
