Pros DeLorme XMap è un ottimo prodotto capace di mettere a disposizione dell'utente strumenti di mappatura per la navigazione GPS. DeLorme XMap è un prodotto abbastanza semplice da imparare ed usare e offre una soluzione software GIS all-in-one scalabile ai bisogni dell'azienda e a basso costo. Cons DeLorme XMap all'avvio risulta un po' lento rispetto agli altri software GIS concorrenti. Per il resto mi sembra un ottimo software. Pros XMap is part of a modular family(XMap GIS Enterprise, XMap GIS Editor, and XMap Professional) which is consistent, robust and very easy to use. Cons Sadly it's been acquired by Garmin that discountined it, so with age it's more and more difficult to integrate the XMap ecosystem with newer stuff(windows 10, newer map formats..) Alternatives considered [Manifold GIS](https://www.capterra.com/p/161102/Manifold-GIS/) [Map Maker](https://www.capterra.com/p/236269/Map-Maker/) Reasons for choosing XMap We used XMap and now newer Garmin products because of their straightfulness compared to alternative solutions. Discovered this phone app which connects to it and haven't used it a lot, but like the features which I suspect will come in handy on more complicated trips if we ever have them again. Cons I've always found Garmin a bit glitchy to fire up in general, but perseverance... Without a compatible device, I would only recommend it for light off-grid adventuring. Pros The Garmin Explore app is a great app for off-the-grid trip planning, and navigating. I am able to create and store my route plans for the trip before beginning my backpacking adventure. One of my favorite features is location sharing. This gives my loved ones peace of mind that they know I am ok when I go off the grid. Cons One disappointment that I had with the Garmin Explore Ap is that isn't compatible with my Vivoactive Garmin watch. I do not have enough of a need to purchase an additional device simply for compatibility with this app. This makes it not possible to use some of the features in the app and I can only use the smartphone capabilities, meaning that the smartphone needs to remain charged (definitely less battery life than the Garmin devices have). Pros Fantastic program that I used for over 15 years. Cons DeLorme was acquired by GARMIN and they have let it die. No support. Historical user forums are gone and there is no information anywhere on how to fix issues with XMap8 if you have recently (2019) installed it on a Windows 10 machine. So frustrating!
