In theory, we could have had more billable hours if we built sequencers in LabVIEW, but TestStand allows us to deliver solutions that are technically superior, easier to maintain and that reduces the lifetime cost for our end-customer. Pros Off-the shelf solution for all the stuff that it don't make economic sense to do yourself Ability to import non-NI code modules, making it agnostic of your SW preferences Good training available Plug-and-play compatible to skyWATS.com for test data analysis Cons TestStand is very comprehensive, and requires proper training. Large size of installers A bit lacking when it comes to off-the-shelf ability to capture all relevant meta-data (like UUT revision) Review Source BH Bill H. Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Excellent tool that is easy to learn yet as powerful as we need." July 27, 2017 5.0 Allows my team to quickly complete their work in an efficient manner. Pros It is not difficult to learn the basics of TestStand. If you have any coding experience at all, you shouldn't have any issues learning how to use it. My experience with the many people that have started using TestStand with our work over the last few years is that it can be picked up quickly, and has the capability for complex work when needed. Cons It is somewhat expensive, although when considering the benefits of using it, is worth the cost. The only thing I could think of to improve it is some type of zoom control for everything you have on your screen. I've found that when we are holding code reviews with TestStand displayed on a large screen, sometimes the resolution of the device we are projecting on is too high, and the text on screen is too small. System Administrator Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: 2+ years ### "NI Test Stand" December 8, 2019 4.0 I've been using Test Stand for years now when configuring our automated test fixture. It's worked for us and I dont think we'll be changing due to the specifics of everything. Pros Test Stand allows us to run our ATE system and test fixture which allows us to qualify our healthcare devices. It works well with Clinical Dynamics and Test Fixture. Cons There is a lot of work to do during setting up and getting to run properly. Even during new PC builds, its a pain. But tech support is awesome. Review Source BH Bill H. Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy to use yet powerful tool" January 13, 2017 5.0 We use TestStand to do Hardware-In-the-Loop testing of embedded systems controls. We've found that it is easy to learn, yet has very powerful capabilities. We've also gotten excellent support from National Instruments, both with issues and with assistance on ways to apply the tool to our needs. This tool helps to integrate different types of testing codes (including C++, LabVIEW, Phyton, etc.) into one sequence and control them in one environment. The UI is very intuitive, and the flexibility of the software is super high. Cons Even though the software is easy to deploy for simpler tasks, for an advanced implementation, a proper knowledge is required. It is so nice because if I already have a program in one language I don't have to rewrite it in LabVIEW just to use it. Cons There are a lot of great features that just take time to learn. It's suit person never have coding experience to coding for test. you can also make code module and custom steps to fit your work. The new analysis function is very good for debug issue. highly recommend!
