Pros I like the 3D as well as 2D. I like the tools for lineament mapping, ranging from rose diagram to lineation gridding. You can easily import file/data from .shp, .csv, .dxf etc. Cons All the features are great, there is absolutely nothing I dislike about the software. It has worked very well for our purposes. Pros This software is excellent for data management. The data can be updated quickly. It has very good mapping capabilities which can be modified in a number of ways. I have used Rockworks to prepare mine permit exhibits as well as day to day management of data. I found customer support to be excellent. If I have any questions or issues the response from Rockworks people is timely and patient. Rockworks is very cost effective! Cons The learning curve for Rockworks is relatively steep but this software does so much it should be expected. Alternatives considered [Surfer](https://www.capterra.com/p/106531/Surfer/) Reasons for choosing RockWorks We were a start up company the needed cost effective software for mapping purposes. This has worked out very well. We continue to use it for our ISR operations. Also your online support is great and really fast to answer questions. Cons When you go to export, say a cross section for example, the patterns and colors don't export out the way the look in Rockworks. I have tried several different ways including using report works, but I haven't found a great way to do this. In future versions, it would be great if exports would stay true to the way they look in the program. We just follow the instructions and watch the results. It was amazing how in a few steps we can have the hole stratification pattern for the construction site. Pros The software provides an environment to load all the field data associated to drilling field results and lab results. The software allows me to set up the whole drilling activities for any project, building or house if desired. Also I can update it with all results and prepare plans for the construction site were I could place the foundations and the sewer installations. Cons The software is kind of rough but it works really well, all I need to do is input all the data and this is not a secret, the key factor is the sequence and the best option to do so, to reach this we needed some projects to prepare on our previous system and over the software until we found out the sequence to get the best results. The software package, RockWare, was of great help to me. I got a high quality and accurate presentation of research results as well as saving time. Pros The entire software is designed to suit every engineer, as well as in a way that every user hope for. Excellent graphics solutions. Excellent computing solutions and numerization. Cons In addition to price, which is generally less available to the average student or apprentice engineer ; Sometimes format results not compatible with other softwares.
