Pros Our company has been in business since 2000 and we have always been looking for a more integrated system. Our estimating was done on spreadsheets, proposals prepared in Word, and finally, the accounting was done in Quickbooks, far from a seamless process. Job costing was also difficult. While there has been a considerable learning curve, we are finding that the CSG software series is an excellent choice and becoming easy to use. The training has been very helpful, and while expensive, it has been worth it. I also find that there are fewer things that "slip through the cracks", increasing our profitablity. Cons While there have been a few glitches, CSG has been quick to resolve the issues. It takes a little time to get used to how the system works. About 5 years ago I purchased The Simple Series and this is the best software that I have ever used! True there was a big learning curve but their team was great to teach me through training sessions and today I am using The Pro Series. This is a very powerful program and you can upgrade, add modules as your company grows! I am also using the Web Portal which syncs with my computer which is another great feature! I would highly recommend this software to any contractor! Pros The thing I like the most about the software is that it is a fully integrated system from the first contact with a prospect customer , to estimating the project, to selling the job, to accounting, to scheduling. I always know where I am at with a job and how my business is doing. I believe by purchasing this software I have increased revenue. Cons I don't really know if I have anything negative to say about the software. There are bugs in the software from time to time but when this happens I just let them know and generally it is fixed in a timely manner. After that they wouldn't return phone calls or emails to work through misunderstandings of the verbal agreements the salesman made during the sale process. Pros Good Salesman :) and really that is about all the pros I can think of!! Cons The software is outdated and runs on Access. While it is workable softare, many users of modern software will likely be disapointed with the overall apperance and ease of use. General layout and software feels like stepping back a couple of decades. Online training videos or tutorials are nonexistant. Very much a niche market software. All our questions and needs were always taken care of in a timely fashion. We would highly recommend doing the training to fully implement all the software has to offer as with any new tool in your business Pros Fully integrated construction management software Take off Plus saves us a huge amount of time estimating and generating proposals Sales builder Plus helps us track prospects through job completion with an automated CRM - Our CRM was non existent until we started with SBP JAP Plus generates our payroll and helps us stay on top of our jobs with job costing reports Cons Learning curve but that's to be expected with any new software. With her gentle and compassionate help I was able to present our 2014 books to our tax accountant in perfect form. She was easy to understand and follow plus she went above and beyond to look at several issues I was having. She also provided tools to help me on the future. My support calls are now at a minimum, as I feel I can breeze my way through the system. Cons Screens are too busy and software does not seem intuitive or user-friendly. Because we're using a number of modules in a complex and holistic manner for all business and field operations, it takes time and understanding to integrate the system effectively. However, depending on your specific needs, the software can be used in a far less complex manner. Cons Some of the terms used within the software are brand-specific but not much more than that. One of the best things about it is the amount of detail that we can use as we go through the setup and learning process. I don't like boilerplate software or documents, and CSG allows customization. Cons In our ongoing training, it seems that more than 50% of the questions that I ask need to be researched or explored before I get an answer. This makes me feel like CSG maybe has less experience with real-life contractors than we had originally expected. Basic setup issues, like transferring client lists and attaching to email (Thunderbird), have been glitchy. To be fair, all of my questions do eventually get answered, and the people I talk to seem to understand the nature of my questions. I have used the software for a number of years now, and its much more efficient and more presentable than using Excel spreadsheets. Right now, I use the Take Off Plus software only for the remodeling, which is the only area I concentrate on. Learning the software took a few months, but once it was up an running, it began to save time and money instantly. The support is quick and very helpful.
