Pros

Best features are flexibility, value and service. Pet care is very often a small business that is highly individualized. Having a program that can be purchased in sections (boarding, daycare, grooming) and then having a good amount of flexibility within the program to adapt to each business is a good thing. The entire program is a good value and can be purchased outright with just service as an annual investment. The service is outstanding and responsive.

Cons

The manual is the weakest. The manual is there as well as "help on this page". However, the help index rarely seems to actually help and most explanations are brief. Sometimes you need the long version!

Pros

I have a new boarding and grooming business and was looking for an easy to use software to keep client and pet records organized, create and modify bookings, send reminders to clients, and allow clients to request reservations. Petlinx has it all! I started with the built in tutorials which were very easy to follow along with for initial setup and getting to know the modules. Petlinx perfectly strikes the balance between being user friendly and customizable. It's very easy to access and update client information, as well as to customize lists and options. Employee setup is easy to use as well. Petlinx connects to Quickbooks. The online registration for clients to request services is user friendly and very easy for clients. Customer service/tech support is amazing. Any questions I had were usually answered via email usually within a few hours, and sometimes within minutes. The learning curve was minimal but it does take some time to get it fully set up and practice to become fluent in the program. I'm glad I had time to familiarize myself with it, customize all the data lists and options, create all my custom emails, and test it all before needing it.

Cons

Connecting my work email to send email confirmations and reminders to clients was not a tech skill I have done before and I needed quite a bit of help to find the settings in my email to allow Petlinx to connect. Thankfully there is a tutorial on the way!

Pros

RELATIVELY easy to use, though hard to train people on it.

Cons

It has quirks and reservations will often disappear. it's very easy to do the wrong day. it's hard to make corrections when things are entered wrong (payments, etc). it would be better if there were another way to notate the packages that clients have. the drop down is quirky when people pay in advance and have multiple packages.

This software is a reliable and easy to use product and, we believe, good value for money. It will take a lot to beat it.

Pros

Easy to use, clear instructions, easy to transition to, fabulous timely personal support, and not a "static" product - \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] and his team continue to improve, build and refine the software to include wants and needs of its users.

Cons

I would love more financial type reports without having to upload to my accounting programme.

i couldnt find a catagorie for my work (boarding kennel & doggy daycare) hence why i put Veterinary. we run a luxury dog stay (kennel & daycare) in our Castle looking over the whole of Wellington. we love PetLinx!

Pros

I like a lot of things about it. but if i had to choose would either be the range of reports you can read/print or how you can get the outstanding balances to pop up when the software is opened. and this was my google review: We use PetLinx at Woofington’s at it is great, especially after it’s latest update. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] is amazing and so easy to deal with and always has an answer to any problems we have and fixes it pretty much instantly, can’t recommend this company enough, if you have a kennel, doggy day care or grooming business I definitely recommend getting PetLinx!

Cons

We used to have more than one computer connected to PetLinx and when that was happening the software ran quite slow and would freeze regularly but now we have switched back to just the one and no network connection we have had NO problems with PetLinx. so i dont really have something a like least!

### "The best for your business"

After downloading all the demos for all the software out there, we looked at speed and ease to use. Petlinx was by far the best all around software out there. When we noticed a quirk in the software we emailed them about it and they fixed it within days, we had not bought the software at this point. They are quick to listen to our concerns and suggestions to improve and implement them. So in 2005 we purchased Petlinx and have seen the product improve, grow and expand just as our business has grown. You can now have multiple locations from a single database and have centralized booking with the network edition. All the reports and letters that can be printed out can be totally customized to meet our needs. Through the years we have pushed this software to see what it can do as we have grown and it has always done the job for us. We are looking forward to see what's in the future for Petlinx. We do highly recommend this software to everyone.

Pros

The ability to see your day in the calendar and to be able to just drag and drop appointments between groomer and even between days is important. There are reports for just about everything. Easy to use. Very quick tech support.

Cons

The retail end is a little lacking - but they are working on improving that as of the time of this review.

Its good, wont switch, but it could be better.

Pros

Easy to keep track of pets and clients, easy to keep notes on pets and clients.

Cons

Limited capabilites w/o spending more money to customize, ie reports, changing input fields, etc. New updates take away features that were useful in the past. System is a little pricey, especially for the renewal for multiple computers

There's a complete report editor built in to PetLinx. Adding new custom fields for you will of course invoke a cost as it involves development time for us. - Not sure which features you are referring to, to our knowledge we have not removed any features and have added many since you have been with us. - Your annual support and updates payment is only $229, which includes unlimited phone, email, and remote support as well as software updates with new features. We believe this compares very favorably with competitor pricing. Happy to discuss any of these in more detail through our normal contact methods :-).

layout and colorful design and ability to add multiple employees to the calendar as well as the right click and drop down boxes i also like that it integrates so well with cayan also the ability to make dtailed groom notes on every dog

Cons

unable to split tips between a bather and groomer on the same transaction a handful of technical glitches and i feel like an industry professional should be consulted on future updates

### "The program does more than I had hoped for."

We have been operating a successful boarding facility for 18 years with a database that we long ago outgrew. As my husband is an ex-computer engineer, we were reluctant to switch because we 'knew' that with any change of computer systems problems follow. Not so with PetLinx. I introduced PetLinx into our very busy business on the 1st January, so that I could link it with the financial quarter. So from day one, we made the program work hard and it hasn't let us down. We have found an astounding number of ways to make PetLinx aid us to save time, keep our customers informed and get on on top of repetition in the office. No more accidental overbooking, forgetting to get a deposit, forgetting to charge for a requested bath - or worse still, not doing a paid for a bath. Last night I even realized it could assist with a revamp of our fire evacuation plan for our pets. I believe that I have yet to reach the potential of this program. In addition, I would be remiss if I failed to mention the excellent customer service I have received. Trust a kiwi to be unfailingly kind, patient and always follow through. I requested quite a few changes in the program to meet our needs and each was done in a professional and timely manner. Thanks, heaps. We look forward to a long and enjoyable journey with PetLinx. Keep up the great work.

Ease of scheduling and a nice neat package to hold and store client information

Pros

There really isn't much that I don't like, so I would have to say that I like everything about the software, however I feel the customer support is top notch.

Cons

There is still glitches here and there through out the software. Most of them have work arounds, so it's never been a huge issue. One MAJOR thing I would like to see implemented, would be the ease of changing a client's information unknowingly. By using the FIND search option to find clients, if not careful, one can accidently change the client's info instead of completing a search.

I find Petlinx very easy to use and have been very impressed with the updates that appear after we have flagged a feature that we would like to see added in. The support has been fantrastic from Laurence and his team!

When printing daycare lists, they are not in alphabetical order for the dogs names!

Hard to get fluid in using it, especially entering in bulk data. Seems like it does a lot that I don't know about or make use of but is just too confusing to play with. Was also disappointed the email confirmation for customer appointments was not automatic.

Can't change the order of customer/pet/grooming information. For example, I don't take vaccination records so a lot of room wasted. Would like to be able to customize that space with things that are important to me.

Overall I thought the customer service has been great. We haven't been able to really use Petlinx to its full potential yet but when we finally switch over I am confident it will meet our needs.

Pros

It is customizable to your needs and the customer service has been very helpful.

Cons

Took a little time to get used to. We're still working on how to set up diet sheets like we'd like them.

I chose PetLinx because it was one of only a few pet service products that offered a desktop option rather than through the internet.

I feel this is a user friendly software that will help me save time and money in bookings.

Pros

Just learning it, the program is very powerful, I have been using a DOS based program for about 22 years, and it was a great program, but since you cannot buy a powerful 32 bit system anymore, I had to upgrade. I feel this is a user friendly software that will help me save time and money in bookings.

Cons

I have a huge database, and I need to input all existing clients, which will be very time consuming. Also, I wanted to keep my numbering system for the clients, once you enter a client, you cannot change the client number, but we will work around it. I haven't used the program enough yet to have most like or least like.

Trial does not allow you to see what will be offered upon purchasing and POS does not work for Canadian businesses.

It was relatively easy to learn. Still not using full modules as intended. Using program 15 hrs a week with limited time to invest in learning modules. Easily adapts to aviary services and day care stays. Instruction booklet easy to follow. I find some files are lost, or not easily retrieved. ... have to try several times to retrieve by pet name with no hits but yet it appears under customer name???? I would recommend this program to other avian service like business. ... but nothing is perfect so I rated it a 4 over all.

The data organization part - keeping clients information and grooming history - works well. It took me a long time to figure out how to check out multiple dogs owned by a same owner, and to make a sprit payment. I lost some money because of that. I couldn't figure out in front of the customer, so I ended up let customer go without paying. When I input the discription of services in Grooming tab, for some reason, duplicate information appears sometimes. It doesn't calculate in total price, which is good, but gets confusing when I look at the weekly sales at the end of the week. I still don't know why and how it happens.

With regards to duplicate services, there was an issue in an earlier version that we resolved so I suspect that you were using that early version. Helps keep track of bookings and accounts

Pros

Ability to invoice, email and sms clients from the package. Stand alone so no problem with data security. Easily backs up to external pen drive. No subscription fees. You own the product. Updates easily integrated. Easily see daily, monthly, yearly bookings.

Cons

Just needs a online booking code that can be put into a website(which is coming). I cant fault any of the product as it really does well at running a boarding kennel and our cattery.

We have tried several types of software to maintain data integrity to no avail. However this system seems better and the booking in system was a bonus and so we trialed both and are comfortable to use the booking system now.

A bit cumbersome when booking in at the moment but may get quicker when we get used to it.

I have used Petlinx since opening my business in May 2012. I started off with just the grooming package and then several months later added day care. I am not particularly computer literate and was concerned that without someone 'on the spot' to show me the ropes I would be confused but was surprised to find that I had no problems. It is a very user friendly system and Laurence is always available via email (bearing in mind the time difference) to answer any questions. The many updates over the years addressing issues that customers have raised is great.
