Pros: I like that once you purchase a trading partner and template all updates to that transaction are included. There is very little turnover in this department so I'm usually able to work with the person who originally developed my templates. I also like that they ALWAYS answer the phone.

Cons: The only con that I can really think of is when I am trying to resolve an issue that involves the VAN. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what software needs to be updated. IQMS now offers VAN service which we are exploring.

Pros: Easy Implementation; Thanks to the experience of the IQMS Staff
Customization
Feature Rich
Robust

Cons: Learning Curve for End Users

Overall: Thanks to the experience and knowledge of the IQMS staff, EDI implementations at Monoflo have become easier and easier. We are able to get customers and vendors on board with EDI quicker and easier.

The one thing we would like is the ability to create our own templates; although this is possible, it is not for the technically challenged or novice user.

Overall, the robustness of the system and the ability to customize how EDI is translated and parsed makes it ideal for any environment.

The perfect addition to the EnterpriseIQ ERP system.

Thanks to IQMS EDI Translator, Monoflo Speaks EDI.

Integrated EDI is the key

Pros: * Integration is the key - there is no finger pointing as the translator is integrated into the system.

* Superior technical support - IQMS employs top notch specialists on the EDI support team.

* Ease of Use - From end user's standpoint, the process of converting incoming data into a sales order is fairly simple

* Flexible - when customer's data requirements suddenly change - scriptiing adjustments can be made quickly and efficiently, without long wait times

* Visibility - order changes are visible as quickly as you need - we are able to see customer front loads as soon as they happen

Cons: * Set up can be complicated, depending on the customers' needs - due to the nature of EDI, setting up new trading partners are not always simple and straightforward - there is usually a tweaking phase to get the set up working correctly. While this is a con, it is also a plus because IQMS knows how their sales order module works; so they can be nimble with additional scripting adjustments, along with various switches that can manipulate the data properly.

* Need transport software-We use a 3rd party software, specializing in data transmission, it offered the full range of options needed to connect to traditional mailbox providers, although IQMS has flexibility to directly connect, we utilized another part of the IQ package to directly connect to a customer, saving both sides transmission KC costs.

Overall: When we looked into purchasing IQMS back in 2003, we were using an ERP system that utilized a 3rd party translation program. I was hesitant to think that IQMS could do as good of a job handing the EDI side of the software; however, I quickly realized their EDI dept is second to none. We have confidently never looked back.

Due to the tight integration we were able to reduce expediting costs as we are able to see front loads immediately; our schedule update can see the impact within minutes of updating orders and we can react quickly.

If you are looking for an overall ERP package and you have EDI needs; I highly recommend you look at IQMS due to it's strong EDI translation package which is integrated into the system.

EDI Module

Pros: The IQMS EDI module provides much needed EDI transaction capabilities. The module provides wide array of EDI functionality including standard X12 and EDIFACT transactions as well as custom flat file import and export. The module is tightly integrated with the rest of the EIQ application to help keep data integrity intact and keeps users more efficient while performing EDI tasks. Customer service from the IQMS EDI group has been fantastic.

Cons: Module can be difficult to configure and scale up with large number of trading partners and transactions. Most transaction additions and changes require custom programming from IQMS at a cost per transaction and trading partner. Very limited documentation or tutorials on how to program or add transaction mappings yourself. The module does not come with its own communication tool for the actual transmission of EDI data, this requires an outside mechanism such as FTP or VAN supplied communication application.

Overall: For companies that need to be able to support EDI transactions, this is a must-have module. The heavy integration with the rest of the EnterpriseIQ application make it ideal vs. trying to use a separate, third-party application. Make sure to carefully calculate the costs associated with implementing this module as there are charges for each trading partner, each transaction set programmed and annual support costs calculated based on all these purchases.

Vendor Response

by IQMS on May 31, 2012

Flexibility and configurability are key with EnterpriseIQ EDI. Each customer's installation is unique so our EDI permits execution of custom business rules, allowing more freedom in employing business processes. Also, the same tools used for creating EDI templates and scripts are available to the IQMS end user. With training and knowledge, companies can create and maintain their own EDI implementations-many customers are doing this successfully. Moreover, we have highly trained EDI staff to assist with questions, training or handle complete implementations. IQMS EDI Trading Partners and Transaction Sets are purchased just once, utilized as often as needed and are then supported by IQMS at no additional cost via our standard maintenance contract. We partner with CLEO's LexiCom software to provide industry recognized Trading Partner communication packages for data transmission and receipt, thus granting the control and security necessary to function effectively in the digital world.

Pros: We implemented EDI in 2010 when we were overloaded with tool transfers. Our legacy system was not integrated within EIQ therefore we had to manually input each shipment. The manual system was causing us to stay late past 10:00 pm and increase in clerical errors. After EDI was implemented, we were able to have the shipping department take full control of all outbound EDI transactions. The automation and removal of manual intervention directly impacted our performance. In addition, our purchasing department was able to spend more time on analysis and follow up rather than data entry.

Cons: The cost is a bit high howevert for a company that uses EDI on a daily basis, will see an ROI of less than 12 months if not sooner.

Overall: I would highly recommend the EDI module for any company who needs to use EDI on a daily basis. The support from IQMS and their EDI department is the best in the industry. We are asking more non-edi customers to get on board as this makes both companies more lean!!!

Customer Support

Pros: IQMS EDI Module has met all of our company's EDI needs even though we have a wide variety of customer industries, such as automotive, telecommunications, appliciances, etc. Each of these customer industries have their own EDI expectations and with IQMS EDI module we have been able to meet all requirements. Even with customers who do not use traditional EDI, we have been able to import their spreadsheets for orders via the IQMS Order/Entry Import feature. IQMS support, not only for their EDI module, but all modules, gets an A+ in my book.

Cons: The version of IQMS that we are using is not the most current so this may be fixed in the latest version, I would like to see more fields available in the sales order to store needed EDI information from customers.

Overall: IQMS EDI module will meet all of your EDI requirements. I would recommend using it.

Pros: The ability to have orders processed and entered automatically into IQ saves hours and eliminates possible keystroke errors. Besides traditional EDI files, we also import spreadsheet files into this module. The help support on this module is excellent.

Cons: The cost in setting up a trading partner and the transaction sets for them can add up quickly. Also, when updating IQ software versions, we have had to tweak the trading partners to get them to function properly.

Overall: Once the trading partners are set up this module works with little interaction from our personnel. With E-server running in the background, everything can be done automatically. This module is a must have.

Pros: Superior service from implementation to support.
Once set up, the program runs itself.
Low maintenance.
Only issues have stemmed from changes on the customers end.
Very professional knowledgeable support personnel
The time savings alone can pay for itself depending on the volume with the Customer.

Cons: The costs to add additional User licenses / trading partners can sometimes be a hurdle.

Overall: IQs EDI translator is top notch!

Purchased separately, a third party vendor is required to send and receive the files between you and your trading partners.
eServer is definitely worth the investment. it allows e-mails and file transfers to be automatic.

Pros: The EDI process is fast, efficient, and accurately replicates manual processes in an automated fashion. I have been thoroughly impressed with this module for EIQ.

Cons: The cost is a bit of a barrier especially if you are just starting up. However, the more customers / vendors you can get to utilize EDI it quickly recoups the investment. Depending on the volume one customer may be enough considering how much time is saved.

Overall: EDI from IQMS is top notch. The support team is fantastic and it is amazing what they can do to make a customized solution to fit your needs.

Pros: The EDI system is 100% IQMS. There is not a 3rd party involved. The EDI support staff is very knowledgeable. Whenever our customers' requirements change, the EDI group provides modified scripts, usually the same day.

Cons: We implemented IQMS more that three years ago. Honestly, I have not had any EDI problem that the EDI group failed to correct in timely fashion.

Overall: The EnterpriseIQ EDI module is among their best.

Pros: Once you are in production with the trading partner it requires very little interaction. The support that IQMS provides on EDI is phenomenal.

Cons: There is a bit of a learning curve for new users to implement a trading partner. Once you have done this a few times the process becomes much easier.

Overall: Koller Enterprises has over 15 trading partners and although the cost to create the templates seems high, it's well worth the money.

Pros: 90% of our Sales orders come in via EDI. This includes .csv and X12 format. Without the EDI module and its automated partner application ESERVER we would waste hours trying to get our customer demand into the system. With the EDI module information is updated in the system accurately and efficiently.

Cons: EDI does not perform electronic communications with trading partners. A third party vendor is usually required to send and receive the files between you and your trading partners. This must be purchased separately. Also, Transaction Templates and Trading Partner expenses can add up if you do not have a resource in house.

Overall: KI engaged the IQMS Professional Services Group to help facilitate our implementation of EDI. Their Application Specialists were able to help us with the setup, implementation and training required for a smooth transition.

KI continues to utilize the eServer functionality whenever possible. eServer allows for continuous background processing of inbound and outbound EDI transactions. E-mails and file transfers are automatic and require less manual maintenance.

Pros: Runs good with entire ERP package

Cons: When you have a customer that you need EDI templates for that IQMS hasn't done any for yet it takes some time to get it completed correctly

Overall: If your on the IQMS software system and you have a customer that requires EDI either via Internet or a third party van IQMS EDI can usually get it to work. This then saves you from data entry errors and TIME.
